[MED-SURG MINDSET] Hannah's task list is a game changer. I just got a new job as a medsurg nurse in an LTAC. I am usually doing well at the start of the shift, but I tend to lose track of the things I needed to do in the afternoon around lunch time, and long after all the scheduled morning medications have already been given to my patients. After I made some modifications to the task list to specifically address the routine tasks I have on the floor where I currently work, the form certainly helped take off the pressure I often felt prior to discovering this very effective and handy tool. I truly appreciate this section, and I am also fully grateful that I purchased the full dose program. Every course is worth so much more than what I paid for. Thank you so much!
Great course! Very comprehensive course that addresses many of the common concerns of a new med surg nurse. I have returned to the med surg floor after a 9 year absence, so this has been very helpful. This a great course for a new grad or nurse returning to the field, highly recommend! I’m not sure how to receive my test score though and CE credits. No email received.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] I absolutely loved it, it is a long story but in short, this literally changed my nursing life and myself. I am a baby nurse who is about to start working as a nurse in 2 weeks! I used this course for like 3 weeks to 1 month and I absolutely loved it. What's special about this course, is that it's touching and very educational. I was not ready at all even though I passed with 75 questions on the NCLEX; I can surely say this course prepared me to be a successful nurse (maybe more than my school...). It literally runs through from A (once you wake up to get ready for the shift=mindset) to Z (sign off and report to next shift nurse). The details that this course contains is AMAZING, it touches on everything (it is the perfect course for future perfect nurses). Honestly, I don't feel I am alone in this journey and have Katie in the background talking and encouraging me when I am down. I really really loved your course so much and am definitely looking forward to trying other courses. This course got your back!
I really appreciated the personal anecdotes and recommendations on substance use disorder, discharge planning for complex cases (ie., patients without an address), and end of life care, especially because these topics were not thoroughly reviewed or taught in nursing school. You provided real world experiences as bedside nurses that provided more context into what med-surg nursing is all about. The whole course was thorough and I learned new things that I will definitely apply in my nursing practice. The end of life care really hit home for me, especially because I have had several comfort care patients and my grandfather is currently on hospice. I wish I had completed this course before my first year as a med-surg nurse. Overall, I feel more prepared in having completed this course. Thank you so much for creating this website and developing these courses so thoughtfully. I am so grateful!
[MED-SURG MINDSET] Wonderful course with tons of important information.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] This is the BEST online course I've taken. I was working as a psych nurse (international graduate). I recently got a job as a med-surg nurse so I was looking for online course or material which could help me in my new role. I found this one and It was exactly what I needed. I really enjoyed the course and learned a lotttttt from it. The content is well organized and focused on practical situations. I highly recommend it!!!!!!!
[MED-SURG MINDSET] This course does make me feel more prepared for a soon-to-start med surg job because I certainly missed a lot about how hospitals run during clinicals.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] This course fills a gap in the new nurse education market. It’s insider knowledge that I didn’t get from my preceptors. Also, being able to play or listen to areas multiple times was really useful to me. I use as a refresher when I haven’t seen a particular case or dx in awhile.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] I found the course very helpful to my newbie nurse practice especially after losing time in clinical from COVID during school. My orientation was very quick paced and having the time away from patient care to properly digest and review important material was key to developing my confidence and skills. The emotional support and normalizing of how stressful those early months can feel was good for me to have a realistic perspective on where I should be, and to not hold myself to crazy standards. Being able to take that deeper dive and have a better understanding of the types of patients I may care for, and how to organize myself was invaluable. Thank you!
[MED-SURG MINDSET] A very thorough course for a new RN like me who started on a med-surg/telemetry floor.
[MED-SURG MINDSET & TELEMETRY BASICS] Tomorrow I begin a new position on a MS Tele floor. I have been a nurse for quite a few years, but due to some pretty crazy things I have only worked in a clinic (triage phone nurse, minimal direct patient care) and a year in a county jail (my best job thus far!!) I am lacking in detailed clinical skills that I learned many years ago in nursing school, so in addition to the tele course I am enrolled in the med-surg mindset, and am so thankful for it! This telemetry basics brush-up gives me great ideas of questions to ask my new preceptor, and a beautiful introduction to the world of telemetry that I am walking into. Instead of being overwhelmed by the monitors and questions I will have, I am grateful for a frame of reference and foundational understanding of the reason for their monitors, what kinds of things I will want to keep track of and chart for the purpose of communication with the providers, etc. I am grateful and, if/when I reach my dream of being an ICU nurse (specifically neurocritical care d/t a severe TBI I sustained in 2012!!) I will be enrolling in further courses from Fresh RN! I am so thankful for this resource!
[MED-SURG MINDSET] Great course for a newer Med-Surg RN!
This was a very thorough course for a new RN like me who started on a med-surg floor. I appreciated the great detail that went into making this course. I loved the handouts and will continue to use them in the future for quick reference.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] I found this course to be very helpful to me as a new grad. It pointed out and helped me better understand the important aspects of nursing care for a medsurg patient. I'm already a busy mom of two kids under 12 while navigating through a new career, so I appreciated that this course was self paced without any pressure to complete by a certain deadline.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] This course has been so helpful for me. I show up to each shift more knowledgeable and less stressed, which is priceless!
I earned my CMSRN because I felt like I was stagnating in my specialized field of the elective post-op ortho world. However, despite passing that certification exam (and for some reason this class is advertised as *not* being a prep course for cert exams, but it *totally* would have helped!), I felt like I had just memorized ideas & facts for it, and I knew I'd forget much of the material afterward. However, working my way through the Med-Surg Mindset course afterward really help me better conceptualize and internalize what I had studied previously, and I was able to float to med-surg units with much less anxiety than I had in the past.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] I love the program. You're helping fill in the holes I missed due to COVID.
[MED-SURG MINDSET] As a psych nurse new to medsurg this course has been a lifesaver. First as an overview and then for references.
