The 1st two months develop you abilities to plan your novel, so the writing in month 3 is more focused. The staff are fun, irreverent, and supportive. My goal was to finish writing and editing book 1 of my planned series and I did. I spent a portion of the time in the hospital with my daughter. The text messages made me still feel a part of Novel90 and encouraged me to jump right back in once I was back home. I like the sprints and the deadlines for planning/writing/editing.

Trying to single out one thing as the best is very difficult. I guess it would be the fact that it kept me focused on my writing every single day. Well, first and foremost is because it will help you become a better writer. Second, it will motivate you to apply yourself toward writing that novel that's inside you. I signed up for this challenge to write the next book in my series, which was a 55k word romance novel. The challenge was broken down into ideation/Drafting/Revising and editing. It was nice to have a community writing together no matter where you were in the process. The pep talks were wonderful and so were the text messages from the team Coach. If you want to write your first book or your next book or even your 50th+ book, this challenge is perfect because you have a community and a coach to cheer you on. And they take the frustration out of getting started and keeping going.

I've had a novel idea forever and Novel 90 not only gave me a goal to finish it, but support with springs critiques, classes on craft and AI editing tools to make the end result better. Thank you, AutoCrit!

My goal was to finish the first draft of last novel90 (summer). Though real life caught me in a pinch, I appreciate the check-ins, not feel pressured, and atmosphere from all coaches and other participants within the community.

My goal was to finish an old project and set myself up for a series based on this first book. Novel 90 gave me the perfect opportunity to give up excuses and get busy writing! I love the group sprint calls and the check-ins from the coaches. Writing can be a lonely experience sometimes and having access to this community and the coaches changes that!

My goal going into the Novel 90 Challenge was to stop procrastinating and write my first novel. I honestly can’t believe how motivated I was - I finished a first draft for the first time ever! The text messages from AutoCrit were encouraging, and I loved tuning into some of the zoom check-ins and being with a group of people who were all tackling the same goal. I don’t think I would have finished a draft without this challenge, and now I’m excited to move forward on my own and polish it up!

- No particular goal other than to finish editing the damned book and not hate it when I was done. - I felt encouraged. I loved dealing with actual people. - I discovered AutoCrit! - It feels like the people running the program are real writers who understand the struggle. - Because it delivers on its promises. (I submitted another one before I realized I hadn’t answered all of the questions. And the picture is of my constant desktop companion.)

I’m not sure that I had a goal, other than to find a substitute for NaNoWriMo. But I loved the encouragement and getting to deal with real livepeople! And I LOVED discovering AutoCrit! Best writing program I found so far and believe me, I’ve tried most if not all of them. YES, IT’S A PHOTO OF A CAT. Because who can write without a cat to lie on the pages to approve what you’ve written?

My goal was to progress as far as I could through the process. I knew from the start that I wouldn’t have enough time to complete the challenge. The best aspect of Novel 90 is its flexibility; being able to choose a team that aligns with my writing process, along with a tailored structure for each group, is incredibly beneficial. I believe fellow authors should participate because writing together and cheering each other on creates a joyful momentum for our writing sessions. The published authors who guide us provide invaluable insights into the writing process and publishing industry. I especially appreciate that the autocrit team is understanding of introverts and allows us to lurk and learn 😎

My goal and my challenge was to write a complete draft. Novel90 helped me achieve my goal by always being there if I need it, helpful with information. The best thing is the constant attention that Bekah and Kat give. I think others should participate because because of all the information that is freely given by everyone in the organization and the kindness.

My goal was to be more efficient with my writing. Novel90 helped me stay on task better. The best thing is the community and communication within the challenge. Others should participate to help with accountability and inclusion as this job is very lonely.

I did my first novel 90 about a year ago. My novel is over 178k words, so there is no way I was able to get it written and edited in 90 days. Instead, I wrote it and edited it over 3 novel 90s. That seems appropriate, seeing as how my project is probably 3 times the size of a standard novel. Without the novel 90 challenge, i never would have been able to stand where I am now, which is with a completed and edited novel. It forced me to set aside specific times for writing. Without the time goals, I never would have become organized enough to finish.

I joined AutoCrit in the summer challenge and had an amazing experience. When it came time for the fall challenge - I was eager to get started again. I have already signed up for Spring too! Goal: finish my book including edits. Outcome - almost but a lot closer than the summer project which still needs full edits. How did Novel90 impact this goal? Free resources: Routine check-ins, tons of resources in the Novel90 Forum, free writing platform. All the Team Leaders bring their life experience. As a Pantser - Katherine D shared words of wisdom that spoke to me. I also learned from Team Planner’s Kat and Team Plantser’s Bekah. But don’t worry they even have a team confused if you are not sure where you fit in the writing process! Best of all, if you want more time - you can attend multiple teams! I added in some optional classes (paid) which were totally worth the money. My opinion on the “best thing” is the community! If you want to engage, you can engage. If you have a week where writing has a lower priority that is okay too - there has never been negativity in my Novel90 experience. In January 2025, I was an aspiring author. By the end of 2025 I was able to write “the end” for two stories - both over 50,000 words. Why join- you have nothing to lose except progress towards a writing goal.

This is my second attempt to work through the Novel challenge, both times interrupt by a heavy work schedule. But I have learned more and more through each “failure” and am excited to sign up and be a part of the Spring Challenge. This time as a retired manufacturer of Sharpies And S-Gel pens my focus will be on the end product of the ink flow rather than its assembly. I look forward to writing the first draft of a project special to my heart and could not recommend the passionate and dedicated members of AutoCrit more highly. Novel 90 challenging ride, so strap your seatbelt on your favorite chair and prepare for the best roller coaster imaginable.

My goal was to complete a first draft of a novel. It helped motivate me and I was able to complete about 90% of a first draft that I have been thinking about for YEARS and now I can refine it and perhaps submit it to a publisher in a free months. I loved the check Ins and the support throughout the challenge, it was a wonderful community. Even if you don't submit your manuscript, it's a great motivator to get words on the page. I won't be submitting my manuscript but it helped me so much!!!!

My goal going into Novel 90 was completion of a manuscript ready for final edits. The encouragement, education and coaching provided was superb. The best part was the gracious hospitality of the coaching staff in being so open and willing to help me achieve my goal. Everyone who has ever thought they wanted to write a novel should participate. The sincere encouragement and assistance provided will help make your dream a reality.

My goal going into Novel 90 was to get my writing spark back and try to figure out a writing practice that worked for me. Novel 90 got me writing again, and the support from the coaches was invaluable as I worked toward my goal. Whatever your author goal is, this challenge will help you grow in your craft.

For this challenge, my goal was to write a novel in 30 days which I’ve done successfully every year since 2011. I also wanted to edit, but not the novel I wrote as I failed to follow the plan (never put away what you need to follow when writing). I had something which did need to be edited and I worked perfectly. The tools are amazing and being a lifetime pro member is so worthwhile. As an author, having these tools can really make a difference in what you get done.

This was my first finish and second attempt at a Novel90 Challenge. My goal going into the challenge was to get this book done (I started in Summer Novel90). Novel 90 kept me to the grindstone and I was able to complete the novel and began the revision process. I still have a ways to go as it needs a bit more work than I thought and yet wasn't the dismal failure I figured it to be. The best thing about Novel90 is hard to say--there are such great wins as the faburlous coaches, the teams, all of the lessons that are introduced for our benefit and so much more. The Fall 2025 Novel90 was my first challenge and first exposure to Autocrit. I signed up because Nanowrimo had gone the way of the dinosaur. There are so many options for November challenges, but Novel90 drew me because of the format; drafting, writing, and editing. My goal for this challenge was to start and finish a book, to learn more about the craft of writing while doing so, and to enjoy the process. Novel90 helped me to meet and, in many ways, exceed my goal. My ebook is live on Amazon! I am a chronic starter. I’ll get an idea, start writing, then when I get in the weeds, I set it aside. I finished a book from start to finish, including outlining, writing, editing, and formatting. It is finished. The absolute best thing about Novel90 is not a thing. The people. The wonderful group of authors who take time to teach, to mentor, to answer questions, and to give you the pep talks and the tools to get your book written. There are so many free resources that Autocrit offers during this challenge. You don’t have to get the Pro membership, and there is no pressure. The people who make Autocrit wonderful is the absolute best thing about Novel 90. Why participate? Why deviate from the way you may be writing your book? To get it done while having fun and learning. Participating in Novel90 is free and valuable. Why pay for courses or masterclasses when you can get all of that plus get to meet other like-minded authors for free? The cost is a bit of your time and taking a chance. For me, it was hitting the jackpot. I learned to format my outlines and character bios, write in a way that didn’t bog me down, and edit the book. The rough draft was way messy, but she cleaned up well. Participate, follow the three-month structure, and if you're not satisfied, walk away. You’ve lost nothing but time that you may have spent writing anyway.

I had already completed a “skeleton” of my novel (beg, mid, end) but I signed up for the challenge to stay motivated to fill in the story. Although I cannot say I am finished yet, Nov 90 helped me tremendously to 1- keep going 2- stay motivated and 3- hone skills. The best thing were writing sprints and online course videos I could watch anytime. In fact I am still watching them and I appreciate that I continue to have access to them. I would recommend the challenge to any writer who needs some outside motivation to persist. Thank you.

I've been writing a 50k word story every year for a decade and moving on. This year I wanted to write and edit a 50k word story. I went one step further and published it. Thanks for the support.

My goal was a more consistent daily or weekly writing routine. As it turned out, the planning and problem solving handouts and videos wound up being more important to my process than setting a schedule. What I hope is that now I have a better feel for what to do when I hit a stumbling block, it will be easier to keep my routine going. I enjoyed the team support and check ins and found the Auto Crit team inspiring and supportive. I think the challenge is a great idea for anyone struggling to start or commit to a new project

I set a goal of 20,000 new words in addition to revising my novel. The check-ins and daily assignments helped me tackle revision without being overwhelmed. I'm signing up in February.

My goal was to write every day and to not only finish my novel, but edit it and get ready for publication. Coach Katherine is extremely supportive, kind and encouraging every step of the way. She, along with Kat Campbell and Bekah were fantastic coaches, mentors and teachers. The team support and feedback is priceless. Everyone needs someone in their corner at some point in this journey. AutoCrit fulfilled all its promises to help me be accountable to myself. Wish I had found it years ago!

This challenge is the missing piece to complete your novel! Instead of my normal scattered, unfocused approach, Novel 90 gave me a strong yet flexible schedule to guide me through the process to finally, FINALLY finish my first draft! I plan to use AutoCrit’s array of tools to edit and polish my draft, but I never could have reached the finish line without the ACCOUNTABILITY offered by the program and particularly by the coaches. This has been a great exercise for me. While I did have a draft of my supernatural thriller , what I realized is I spent way too much time on character and world building and not enough time on integrating plot / story with characters ., also I realized it was more of a coming of age trope which I hadn’t intend ( it’s adult not YA) so I changed up the first few chapters which has changed up the whole story to something much more dark and powerful like good versus evil and search for karmic justice and dark academia and developing out a whole detective like agency theme set in Los Angeles where I live (lol) and I changed the title so I really feel like this embodied for me shedding what wasn’t working and getting on the right path and talking myself into taking risks with my writing .. . to be continued .. thanks for all your great coaching Bekah ! And thanks for Autocrit doing these marathons !!

I’d done other challenges before, but one month isn’t enough to write or even edit a long book. 

During Novel90, I’ve gone from incomplete draft to edited, super close to publishing but I need cover art and author site! The challenge wasn’t just about getting words done, but getting those words to deserve being on the page. 

Sprints and workshops and clubs were amazing, although I couldn’t join them all, the ones I did gave me the nudges I needed to continue and eventually finish with something I’m proud of. So, thanks coaches! I was in all teams so wooo!

My goal going into this challenge was to complete another creative challenge. That's a huge feat in itself given my severe physical and visual disabilities (Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus and visual impairments). I use assistive technology (dictation and a screenreader) and have taken part in many AutoCrit challenges and also NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo. I loved those but was searching for an alternative now they do not exist. 

The best thing about Novel90 is that it's a supportive environment and there are a lot of resources. I liked how interactive it was and how helpful the coaches were. I'd encourage fellow authors to participate in Novel90 because it's fun and a new challenge for anyone.

The content and coaching provided for free is absolutely amazing. Coaches were available for feedback requests, for free, that’s unheard of in the writing world.

This was amazing! I’ve never written so much or got so far on one project before! Through writing sprints and advice&tips from coaches and fellow writers, I was able to stay motivated, excited and focused on the one project and make more progress than I ever have on my own.

I loved the setup for Novel90. I was team plantser so Bekah was my coach and she was awesome. Love the coaching meetings and the occasional sprints. I started the challenge off strong but then work got crazy so fell off the wagon.

Novel 90 helped me throw caution to the wind and start a brand new shiny project that I'm STILL writing on! I haven't been keeping exact track but I'm somewhere between 20,000 and 50,000 words. Best of all, I'm having fun with writing again.

The best things about Novel 90, the coaches were always positive and encouraging and quick to answer questions. The platform that analyzes everything is a great learning tool allowing me to learn if I am hitting my marks for Genre, Tropes, consistency, marketing. plot holes, something I never knew how to check before. All that Analyzer information without having to pay thousands for a coach! And not just getting my writing fixed but learning how to fix my writing.

I have had this novel idea taking up brain space for a decade. I had no idea where to start with marketing or building a platform, either. AutoCrit gave me the motivation to start, all the tips and tricks to market and the tools for building a platform. And that doesn't even touch the editing and developmental assistance for the actual mss. Could not recommend AutoCrit enough!

My goal for novel 90 was to finish a novel. I loved that it gave me a deadline and a ton of motivation to complete the book in 90 days. I loved this challenge, although I didn’t finish. I still made progress and was very pleased with the coaches and the resources.

I had a wonderful experience! I am very shy and had never been part of a writing community before and I feel like this has helped pull me out of my cocoon. The genuine encouragement from the coaches and other writers has been amazing. And I was able to learn sooooo much about who I am as a writer and about my process. 

I didn't get a book completed, but I feel so much more confident that I will be able to at some point!

Having the support of a coach makes the task less scary. You provide tools and support having a deep understanding of the craft. So much is out there on the torchered artist, but the coaches keep the craft real and super fun. So far, I have had two friends join and working on a few more I know have projects in place. Not looking for anything, I just think AC is that good. You are providing cheerleading and knowledge for people to tap into their creativity. Storytelling is as old as humankind. Thanks for keeping us inspired to keep it going.

I came in with a book that I was stuck on. It was going nowhere before Novel90. With the sprints and coaching provided, I was able to turn this book around and it's now at 49k. I will continue with it in the Fall90 to finish.

However, I will be working as much as possible before Oct. 1st as I'd like to complete this one and gear up for book 2 in the series or at least have notes and an outline for that second book by the finish time.

 I appreciated all the advice and coaching that was given on each team as I couldn't make up my mind which team to join. I finally settled on Planner for Fall as I want to see what planning would be like for my writing.

Coach Bekah was awesome! She showed me that my ADHD was a superpower and that tapping into it can become successful.

Before Novel90, my writing was sporadic at best. I would create an occasional poem or short story as inspiration dictated, but never had the drive or discipline to apply myself toward writing the novel which had been festering in my mind for nearly 30 years. 

Novel90 provided the incentives, encouragement, instruction, and feedback that took me from being an occasional, unfocused writer, to a daily work ethic which advanced my debut novel from inspiration to the first 30,000 words of a well thought out and completely plotted novel. 

I not only learned how to write much better through their instructions, but was constantly encouraged to apply that knowledge to what was to become a daily writing habit. 

What I'd hoped would be an adequate replacement for the now-defunct NaNoWriNo, turned out to be many times better. 

Novel90 not only gave me the platform and encouragement to put words on paper, it directed me on how to make those words professionally-crafted into something that a reader would love to read. 

I signed up for the Novel90 Fall Challenge in order to finish my novel and revise it into a finely-polished, publishable work, ready for submission to a literary agent. But I'm not waiting for the new Challenge to start. I am daily adding to, and expanding, my current draft and expect to have another 30,000 words finished before that challenge starts. 

Thanks to the Novel90 Challenge and the phenomenal support team and coaches that come with it, I will soon be a published novelist!

What is almost as amazing is, it didn't cost me a dime!

Summer Novel 90 was the impetus I needed, along with the information I was missing. I was able to take my novel to a point where it’s ready for a developmental edit, which I will do this fall.

Utilizing writing sprints, and keeping up with the challenge zoom calls, my word count was higher than it’s ever been.

I learned more knowledge about the writing, editing, and publishing process than I knew existed! Also, I learned knew writing processes and techniques that help me get words on the page!

My goal was to make a big impact on my story if not finish it. I did make progress on two stories and began planning three more. I loved getting input on my work and suggestions to make the story better/more relevant. I think is a great way to connect and get positive (or helpful) critiques from fellow authors and the coaches.

The encouragement and advice was beneficial. I had honest opinions and help in areas that no one previously could give me. You all helped my "covid baby" shine.

To write and complete my novella that I've wanted to do for years. Novel90 have me the push to do it. Novel90 provided the structure and deadline I needed to complete my work. Writers should use Novel90 to give them the information, support, and goals to finish their writing project.

Novel90 added a well-needed structure that guided me to hone my craft. I've learned a lot, and mainly it helped me see my work through different eyes with AutoCrit analysis tools.

I really enjoyed having the community motivation to complete another novel this year. I've been writing November novels forever, and this is the first time I've completed a second novel in a year. I also learned a ton.

I had joined the AutoCrit community earlier this year, but I really didn't know how to use the tools, when I joined Novel 90, it really helped me learn about the tools in AutoCrit, how to get help, and how to get involved in the community.

Lots of help from staff and classes to learn how to use analyze, overview, backwards blueprint which was extremely helpful to get immediate feedback while writing. Make a big difference then just writing without feedback.

I found very friendly coaches and great camaraderie. My stupid questions were always answered. And I love Autocrit 101, YouTube, and other classes.

I enjoyed the whole process. Many thanks to all the coaches for sharing their expertise and their encouragement.

I loved having access to the coach who gave me amazing advice.

I loved the competition of the teams, the support of the coach who was also a participant and the weekly motivational text messages.

I learned multiple hacks to keep moving forward. I learned about the writing process. Before this challenge, I had some words on paper I hoped would flow. Now, I have, and know how to use the tools to make a cohesive story.

It was an amazing, supportive community led by incredibly knowledgeable teachers who communicated in a way that informed and inspired us all. Truly a great experience.

Kat's the best. No, I mean really. When I mentioned my concern of trying to outrun a draft, she gave wise words that are now posted on the wall in front of my writing area.

All the coaches were fantastic but Kat won me over with the Late Night Sprints and the sharing of what she knew to make a book better and how to progress.

My goal going into this Challenge was to finish a 20,000 word novella. Novel 90 helped me complete a nearly edited 47,300 word novella. The best thing about Novel 90 is the challenge. I love to push myself to complete something within a time frame. It helps me set goals, get down to real work, and I know if I have a question, all I have to do is ask. I think fellow authors should participate in Novel 90 because of the challenge to write along with other authors who are right there with you.

The support and community are amazing. It inspires you to keep going even if you stop for bit.

Katherine has a wealth of knowledge about the writing craft, and is very personable and inspiring to all of us wannabe authors. It's a great combination that makes it easy to be on her team.

Team Panster Coach Katherine is kind, supportive, and very knowledgeable. I appreciate her support, as it is a struggle for me to find time to work on writing with other responsibilities.

My "day job" is very demanding as I have been working in the court system for decades. I recently turned my focus to writing the fantasy book(s) that have been trying to get out of my head and into the world. I didn't know how to write a book correctly. I am learning as I go. 

 Luckily, I discovered Autocrit and am already a lifetime member. I began entering recent challenges to further hone my writing craft. After entering the challenges, I came to appreciate Katherine of Team Panster immensely due to her expertise, constant support, and encouragement shown to all challengers. 

As a "newbie" writer, I was encouraged to participate without fear of ridicule. Autocrit and the coaches provide a safe space for participants, and I am signing up for the next challenge! Thank you, Katherine!

I had a great time using the resources that were provided. I especially appreciated the outline of each step with suggestions and worksheets that were provided. The challenge was a great way to get my writing blood pumping as I analyzed the story I was planning to write.

I think it is a great challenge and all the support is amazing. I did not have as much free time as I thought I would but I can hopefully continue to chip away and make progress on my book.

These challenges get me really excited to write. I start strong and those lingering doubts creep back in and I slow down. The coaches (Bekah!) were all amazing and supportive. 

The doubting voices living rent free in my head have been there a long time and are hard to evict. BUT I did start a new work and spent more time writing than I have in the past several years. Thank you all for that!

The coaches were super nice and supportive. I enjoyed quite a few of the YouTube lives. They definitely gave me more knowledge not just about writing but about the whole process.

It has been a great experience! Coach Katherine is amazing!

I was incredibly busy during this challenge, juggling my "day job" and life events in general. However, being part of this challenge was very motivating for me. I appreciated the support from the Autocrit.com Novel 90 Coaches, which enabled me to complete my novella (although not to a final edited stage).

The encouragement from the coaches has been fantastic. I didn’t get as involved as I would have liked, due to some family commitments, but hope to remedy this during the fall session.
