First, let me say that I consider it a privilege to convey my experience with Toby Rice. My journey with aviation started in the 80’s & I soloed at Murfreesboro airport May 29, 1987. The week afterwards I was transferred to Ohio & put my training on hold. It turned out to be a 29 year hold. I picked back up in 2017 & that’s when I met Toby who was training for his private along with me. I think we soloed around the same time and then Toby ran off and left me. It seemed like every week he would stop by my hangar and tell me he’d passed another rating! We became friends as we both had the common love of aviation. Toby has been an inspiration to me as a pilot, but even more as a Christian and a true friend. We’ve flown a lot together and he keeps me current and on my toes. Fly High Toby! I’ll keep chasing you!

Toby has been my go-to flight instructor for the past 5 years. While I’ve been flying more than 30 years, Toby is the BEST instructor. We do instrument proficiency work, basics including stabilized approaches, emergency drills, IFR work, and all the other important areas that keep me sharp. He makes me a better pilot every time we fly. Toby does a great job making sure our instruction time together is efficient (always comes with a plan based on things we have previously discussed), and we de-brief after the flight and discuss my piloting strengths and areas for improvement. Toby is a constant - he’s not looking for his next piloting gig and is reliable and dependable as an instructor who will help you achieve your flying goals.

I used Toby’s services to acquire my instrument rating. As my instructor, Toby showed up to every lesson ready to do what he loves. He was not your typical instructor racing to a certain hour count. He is a master of his craft and is passionate and knowledgeable about all aspects of aviation. I would highly recommend Toby’s services to anyone looking to advance their flying skills and career.

Before working with Toby, I was anxious like an 8 outta 10 and if I saw clouds or any kinda weather, I’d cancel. I didn’t have a real process and I was always second guessing myself. Thought I knew how to fly but after flying with him I realized I really didn’t. After 3 days, my anxiety dropped by more than half, my planning confidence doubled, and my emergency confidence tripled. He taught me detailed planning, how to execute it, aircraft control, advanced control, and how to handle unexpected stuff. He gave me a process built around me so now I can think like an experienced pilot and actually be certain of a good outcome. Before if there was even a little rain or towering cumulus I’d call it off. Now I actually know what I’m looking at and how to make a call. I get to fly for work and with my family pretty much whenever it's possible now thanks to Toby. If you’re like me (hesitant and anxious) pick Toby. He builds your confidence and makes you stronger.

I started working on my pilot's license in 1999. Life happened but I recently started getting lessons again. I had a couple instructors prior to contacting Toby. The difference between the teaching styles was a huge factor in my understanding and comfort with my new piloting skills. Toby really understands how his students see the lessons and offers insights and techniques that make the information easy to absorb and retain. When I purchased my current airplane, Toby was my first choice when I wanted to get transition training so I could fully understand and fly my aircraft safely.

Toby's AQP flight review is the best safety training and new private pilot can do. Full stop. It was a rather grueling two days, but I finished a far better pilot than when I came in. We didn't talk theory, he showed me tons of practical ways to keep from dying in an airplane and then made me fly them. If your goal is to just pass the test or do the minimum, don't come to Toby. If you want to be a better, safer pilot then he is "the guy"!

Considering taking up flying? Well, you can easily acknowledge the obvious, you will be opening yourself to whole new world of travel and adventure. Learning to fly truly puts meaning to the phrase of “the journey is half the fun.” Learning to fly will permeate so many areas of your life and be a life changing experience that teaches lessons that far exceed those learned in the cockpit. Embarking on such a journey necessitates instruction that you can trust and build a report with. With this, I can provide no higher commutation than to Toby Rice. He is patient, kind, thorough and most importantly provides exemplary instruction that is highly customized to the individual. There is no other instructor that I would rather have in my right seat. With myself being a pilot and aircraft owner, I can attest that Toby was essential in guiding me in making the best decisions for my own airplane purchasing experience. He made a process that feels daunting easy and manageable. Here’s to your next $500 cheeseburger!

Being a low time tail dragger pilot, I needed an instructor to help me build confidence in landing my Sportsman TD. Toby is one of the very few instructors in the area qualified in TD instruction. Toby is not only an excellent pilot, his insights as an instructor are amazing. He knows how to convey his wealth of knowledge and ability to his students and his passion for teaching and aviation in general is off the chart. He figured out my bad habits instantly and improved my landings 100% . I hope to be flying with Toby again soon and will say, anyone, no matter their experience will learn and enjoy time with him. We are lucky to have him at M02.

I cannot thank Toby enough for his guidance and dedication in helping me complete my private pilot certificate. His knowledge, patience, and teaching style made every lesson both productive and enjoyable. Toby tailored the training to fit my learning pace while always emphasizing safety and precision. Toby’s flat rate service is the ticket. It took me twice as long as I expected due to weather, work, plane issues etc yet he never charged me a single penny more. I highly recommend Toby to anyone looking for a skilled, supportive, and motivating flight instructor. Thank you, Toby, for helping me achieve this incredible milestone! On to IFR!

Toby has been and continues to be a "go to trusted" resource for not only myself but my family when it comes to private aviation. Everyone at home and the office knows I have something called the "Toby test." If it involves questions with safety, best use of our time, or even a future aviation plan he's going to be one of the top choices I go to! I look forward to working him and his team more as my need for private aviation grows!

Toby was my flight instructor for my private pilot certificate. I cannot explain how grateful I am to Toby for all his instruction. He went above and beyond to make sure I was well prepared for my exam. Beyond that he wanted to make sure I was well prepared to be an excellent pilot. It is very clear that he genuinely cares about his students. He has an obvious love for aviation which he enjoys sharing with others. I cannot recommend Toby services highly enough. He was truly a blessing to me in my aviation journey.

I cannot thank Toby Rice enough for his incredible IFR Mastermind program. The depth and quality of the content provided me with more than enough knowledge to confidently pass my IFR checkride. Toby's expertise and teaching style made complex concepts easy to understand, and his commitment to his students' success is unparalleled. The program's comprehensive coverage of all IFR topics, coupled with practical insights and real-world applications, was instrumental in my success. I highly recommend Toby Rice's IFR Mastermind to anyone looking to excel in their IFR training. Thank you, Toby, for an outstanding program!

As a student, i would’ve LOVED having Toby at my disposal from the start. As a CFII student, having Toby (and the Mastermind hive) at my disposal, is worth the cost when you factor in $50+/hr grounds or $100+/hr flights. Toby (and the hive admins) teach in a way that truly captures leadership: he’s there with you, sharing what he’s been taught and passing knowledge on, in a manner that isn’t degrading or hurtful. Even better, IFR flying becomes fun because you get to see the results from the time Toby has devoted to impart his IFR knowledge. Doesn’t matter if it’s approaches (and the types), departures, Arc’s, VOR’s, holds, regulations, he knows it, and wants you to also.

The moment I found Toby's social media page explaining a lot about how to brief approaches, how and when to activate approaches or suspend, when to set timers for holds or enter into a hold, I feel that it was a blessing given to me to prepare for my IFR checkride that's coming up in a few months. Without Toby and his IFR Mastermind program, I probably would have struggled on this more and cannot wait to learn more as I continue my training for IFR.

In the short time following Toby's insta and now joining this IFR Mastery group, I've learned more information for a much cheaper price than I ever had versus spending $50/hr on ground lessons with my instructors at my flight school. The amount of experience Toby has with teaching people really shows through every topic he expounds on. Sitting in on his live zoom call sessions has been awesome because he lets us ask him anything we have questions about and he beats it down in a timely manner until it's understood. He truly wants you to understand what he's teaching and I can appreciate his educating style and technique. He doesn't try and act like he's smarter then you. What he does do, is try to change your mindset to make you realize you to can know all of the stuff he knows if you just relax and look at the bigger picture. Alot of things in life comes down to your mindset and the fact that Toby incorporates that philosophy into his teaching method to ease folks minds and anxiety towards learning aviation is just pure gold. Thanks so much and I'm looking forward to crushing my aviation goals while being apart of this group!
