Lease accounting isn’t just compliance: it drives real estate strategy and portfolio value.
I’m excited to share that I’ve completed the Certified Global Lease Accountant (CGLA) program! The course, designed and taught by Matt Waters, CPA, CGLA covered the full lifecycle of lease accounting under ASC 842 and IFRS 16.
As many of my colleagues know, effective lease accounting is essential in every phase of the deal, and especially once the ink is dry. This program covered practical applications of lease accounting, from lease classification and amortization schedules to complex areas like remeasurements, modifications, and impairments. It also reinforced how lease accounting directly shapes real estate strategy, deal structuring, and portfolio insights. It was a great opportunity to sharpen technical depth while staying aligned with the evolving needs of finance and corporate real estate teams.
