When we bought home our working cocker spaniel puppy we decided that we wanted him to start puppy classes in order for him to be a well behaved, obedient and happy family member. 

As soon as I found Mark's website I knew that this was exactly what Gunner needed. We don't intend on 'working' Gunner but Mark and Tori both have the skills and knowledge of how an excitable cocker's mind works!!! 

The classes are friendly, small and very informative with lots of tasks you can use at home. Gunner has without doubt picked up a lot in the 7-8 weeks we have been going as well as us on how to handle and nourish his growing personality!!

I had been training my three year old Labrador since he was a pup, but like many owners I hit a plateau with our training and wanted to get some expert advice on how to progress our training further. 

After much research I came across Acer Gundog Training. Oscar and I joined a weekend class, and so glad I did. Mark and his team are exceptional trainers, very knowledgeable and intuitive to each handler and their dog, pitching the class so that everyone progresses at their own pace. 

The classes are relaxed and fun and you come away with lots of knowledge and things to practise for the following week. 

I have attended many dog training courses, classes and workshops over the years where you have been training alongside a variety of breeds, but there is something very special when you are in a group of just gundog owners where you can chat, share tips and advice and talk about the highs and lows, the joys and frustrations that only another gundog owner would understand. 

 I would highly recommend Acer Gundog Training, definitely a five star training group which you will not regret joining. 

I’d been following the Acer Gundog page for a few months prior to getting a dog, so when Bentley came home it was only natural for me to contact Mark in regards to training sessions. 

Starting training with Mark and Tori was the best thing I could have done for both Bentley and myself. Acer Gundog Training uses positive reward based training which has really helped Bentley to excel. 

I’m surprised every week at what a clever dog I have and it’s thanks to Mark and the team that I’ve been able to bring out the best in him. We have just graduated from puppy to beginner training and I can’t wait to see us progress further with our training.

We heard about Mark and Acer Gun Dog training from a friend, who sang his praises. We had a new black lab puppy, Teal who we were finding a bit of a handful.... but it was us who were out of practice! 

Mark was very helpful and patient when we had a couple of 1 to 1 sessions with him before joining his Wednesday puppy class. Teal was 5 months when we started so she was a bit older than the other pups, but the small group made it quite easy for us to fit in and both owners and their dogs made us all welcome. 

Mark is a great trainer and makes everything fun. In fact the hour goes by almost too quickly....although the “tea break” is a welcome interlude for dogs and owners alike to have a chat. Teal loves the sessions and has made good progress in all the aspects we have covered. 

We try and practice as much as possible with her so that each week hopefully Mark sees an improvement in us both. 

A well trained dog is a joy to handle but without good guidance from a trainer it is hard to achieve on ones own. Teal is first and foremost a pet but hopefully will eventually attend shoots in a year or so. However what ever she does we know that she will be disciplined and well behaved thanks to Mark’s help and encouragement.

My little Lab has just graduated from puppy class and we will certainly be carrying on with gundog lessons! 

Really well organised classes, with small dog numbers so you always get lots of help and support. Nicely keep things moving through the hour so the dogs don't have a chance to get bored. 

Tea break is a perfect time to socialise the puppies and have a chat about any problems you may be having with the new addition to the family.

Our working cocker spaniel puppy, Hunter and I are just loving our classes with Acer Gundog Training. I'm so thrilled to have been recommended the classes via a friend of a friend. 

Each class is so different and stimulating for both Hunter and me, with SO many clever techniques and ideas. Although Hunter is just a pet, and not going to be a working dog, these classes work to his natural strengths and are really fantastic!

Have had some great training sessions with my puppy Paisley since taking her to Acer Gundog Training since she was 11 weeks old. Now at 6 months old she has just graduated from the Puppy Class and up into Beginners, and I can see all the things we have learnt along the way have really started to pay off. 

The classes are really enjoyable and I can highly recommend the Acer Gundog Training classes for dogs of any age.

My cocker spaniel, Ivy, loves training with Mark, she has learnt a great deal and has improved so much since we started. 

We started off with 1-2-1's and they really helped us achieve the first steps of our training, then we progressed to join the beginner gundog. Ivy loves this as she finds it great fun being with other dogs in the lesson but also focussing on what she is learning.

Having never owned a GSP before we wanted to make sure little Poppy had the best start possible so we signed her up to start as soon as she had completed all of her vaccinations. She is now 7 months old and with huge thanks to Mark, lots of patience & positive reinforcement Poppy is growing into a really well behaved little lady.

We have worked and bred Golden Retrievers for nearly 40 yrs and our latest youngster has got off to a super start alongside her 3 brothers,having just graduated from puppy class at Acer Gundog Training. 

They respond to the whistle well ,stop and recall,and the loose lead walking is coming on beautifully. 

Marks methods gain focus and pleasure to puppies as they learn methodically to achieve new goals,and develop into the gundog you enjoy a relationship with.

Primarily our puppy is a family pet and companion for when I go running. Mark's instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow. He sends a great new starter email providing information on what to bring and expect? 

We've been attending classes around 3 months, met lots of lovely people and made friends. Classes are fun and relaxed, in coffee breaks we share puppy training concerns, such as nipping, how to judge what is 'acceptable' puppy play? 

There is a real sense of fun, community and wanting everyone to succeed. We've learned so much together, such as getting your puppy to make eye contact for permission. Isla and I started off with attending 1 to 1 classes and now we are attending group classes. Mark's ways of teaching are fantastic and are always very positive, Isla, my Cocker Spaniel enjoys these classes very much( Wednesdays have become her favourite day). 

She has improved with her steadiness, recall, retrieving and much more, especially her heel work!!!

Having kept two puppies (Hattie and Lewis) from our latest Golden Retriever litter, I knew that we needed specialist help with training, in particular in getting them to focus on us and not each other. Luckily we found Acer Gundog Training and my husband and I started classes when the puppies were 18 weeks old, just in time to save my sanity. 

Mark is an exceptionally patient and knowledgable trainer. He explained that there is no fast fix and that all successful training is built up in layers. There is no use of force to make your dog behave but by the dog being focussed on you with positive reward and recognition. 

The classes are held in a beautiful location and are outside (sunshine or rain) therefore in a real life environment. This is particularly helpful to achieving steadiness, your dog is unlikely to spend much of his future life in a village hall but more than likely to be out and about with wildlife and other dogs. 

The one hour classes are fun for both owners and dogs with a tea break midway which tends to be a clinic for those little but irksome niggles. The sessions are varied and therefore do not allow your dog to become bored, but each little bit is part of the jigsaw to having a well behaved Gundog. 

My biggest want when joining the classes was to be able to walk with my dogs on a loose lead and already Lewis has achieved this, a first time that we haven't resorted to using a harness or a type of halti but just an ordinary collar and lead. Despite having owned golden retrievers for nearly 21 years, I have learned so much through Mark’s training sessions. I have now started to use some of the training methods on my older dogs – it is certainly never too late to teach an old dog new tricks or indeed the owners! 

I have no hesitation in recommending Acer Gundog Training to anyone with a dog, whatever breed, age or ability. When we joined in February 2017 I was doubting my judgement in having kept two siblings. Anyone will tell you that you should never ever have two litter mates or indeed puppies close in age. I had two puppies who jumped at me when I prepared their meals, played constantly and basically ignored me and I wondered what an earth I had done. With Mark’s help we are coming through the dark side and getting real focus back on us and not on each other. Of course as puppies they are each developing at different stages, just like the owners understanding but Mark allows for that and makes the whole thing a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

Whole heartedly recommend mark. Calm, relaxed nature with well structured training. Training not just your dog but you as well. The positive, reward basis for training keeps your dogs interest and enjoyment levels high.

Completed basic training when Kenda and sister Ziva, 2 Welsh springer spaniels, were little but due to various circumstances had no formal training for about a year after resulting in 2 lovely but naughty teenagers. 

We were recommended to Mark at Acer and on day one I could not even lean away from kenda let alone try a stay com and. Now after a couple of months, with Mark's patient and knowledgable tuition there's a great improvement, she is responding to a whistle and can almost manage a minute stay at 20 yards. 

Training in the real world, in the lovely countryside adds to the enjoyment of lessons for me and the dog.

I thoroughly recommend Acer Gundog training classes. Mark's gentle but efficient training style is great – and his humorous approach puts everyone at ease. 

I travel 40 minutes to get there (with a fair wind) but it is absolutely worth it. As a bonus the location of the classes is beautiful! Aside from enjoying watching my dog developing and putting to good use all his spaniel skills, the training has really helped me bond with him. I now understand much better what makes him tick. 

A daily 20 minute session practising our newly-learnt skills at home has resulted in a calmer, more settled dog (and owner!). My dog is a family pet, and I don't plan to use him in his true "working" capacity, but the Gundog training has benefitted us in so many ways. Wish I had discovered Acer sooner!

Mark's classes are excellent, based on positive reinforcement and very sociable (for both dogs and owners). Mark has taught me some useful techniques to improve our dog's calmness, control and general obedience. 

The classes are not too big so that it feels like personal instruction and we have seen tremendous progress. The classes are well structured and provide a good level of challenge to the dogs.

I decided that my Sons springer, Loki, needed a Purpose rather than running around like something possessed. What could be better than gundog training? We started with Mark at Acer and almost immediately, by following Marks instruction and advice, both Loki and I we seem to be well on the way to becoming a "team". 

I have had experience of other trainers and must say that it is great the way Mark tailors his instruction for both the dog and the handler. I think that Loki is probably easier to train than me but Mark perseveres. We both look forward to our class each week.

I enrolled on the puppy class with my 12 week old golden retriever pup Tiggy and can thoroughly recommend it. 

Mark is great at making everyone feel relaxed and has a nice, calm, clear way of teaching. As well as the more formal training, it is great to be able to ask (even silly!) questions, for the puppies to be around other young dogs and to talk to the other owners! 

Your first puppy can be somewhat overwhelming even if you have grown up with lots of dogs and animals, Mark's classes have been great for helping me to get over that initial feeling and gain confidence with Tiggy. Tiggy thoroughly enjoys the class too and I cannot wait for the next one!

We got in touch with Acer Dog Training as we were about to get a new puppy and felt that we needed some help with our 5 year old Hungarian Vizsla, Vinnie who was very nervous around other dogs. We wanted to help Vinnie and also make the introduction between Vinnie and the new puppy as positive as possible. Mark suggested Acer's Good Dog Programme which offered us a full review for Vinnie and six 1-1 sessions of training. 

Over the 6 sessions Mark helped me learn how to support Vinnie when around other dogs by teaching me how to read Vinnie's body language and the signals he was giving me which I had been missing. We worked at distance at first and progressed to much closer work with other dogs. I learnt to understand what Vinnie had been trying to tell me and this continued to improve with each session. Mark also helped me to reinforce Vinnie's recall and taught me a whole bag of other tricks to use in different situations.

 Mark gave us advice on introducing Vinnie and our new puppy Freyja and supporting them in a positive way in our home so that they learn to settle together. Freyja will be attending Mark's puppy classes in the New Year and Vinnie continues to grow in confidence around other dogs and I now know when he is happy to play or when he is not. 

Thanks to Mark I now have a whole range of tactics I can use and Vinnie's confidence continues to grow, as does mine! Vinnie has made amazing progress and is now able to have positive and playful interactions with other dogs when it's right for him which is such amazing progress. 

I would highly recommend Acer Dog Training. Thank you Mark - we now have a happier dog and a very happy puppy as a result!

I have been attending Acer Dog Training for about 5-6 months now with my Working Cocker Spaniel Mickey. We rehomed him 2 year ago (he is now 4 years old) and he had his issues - being nervous towards dogs and humans and pulling on his lead were top of the list but there were many more. 

We tried a number of different methods to try and help such agility classes to try and burn his energy, puppy classes to try and social him and I also tried a dog behaviourist but none were very successful. I found Acer Dog Training on Facebook and went for a 1-1 with Mark. 

Mickey came into his own - he loved it. It was amazing seeing him do what he was bred to do and loving it. Iv never seen his tail wag so much and using his brain tires him out more than I thought! He is a great little dog and it's the best feeling seeing him so happy. 

The classes have helped with his general obedience and he now walks to heal (except when dummies are flying 😉) he even likes the other dogs. I would highly recommend Mark and Acer Dog Training. He has transformed Mickey into a well behaved treasure of a dog 😊.

Before finding Mark we took our Springer Spaniel puppy to two other trainers but were really looking for a trainer for gundog breeds so we could train Forrest in all the skills he is bred for. 

In just 6 months we have progressed from complete beginners to the intermediate classes and have seen a huge difference in Forrest. His steadiness, retrieves and hunting skills have come on leaps and bounds and we have learnt how to increase and decrease difficulty in training. 

Mark teaches how to mentally stimulate your working breed and he comes home much more relaxed than he would after an hour of just running around.

As first time dog owners, we needed as much training as Murphy and Mark has really helped us all. Murphy was very "bouncy" when out on the lead meeting other people and dogs, but Mark has taught us how to keep Murphy steady and give him some manners! Every Sunday, I attended the puppy classes. Mark has really helped establish a strong bond between me and my Labrador, Harley. Mark's positive reinforcement training has helped us a long way. 

I wouldn't have know how to start training Harley due to his over excitable behaviour. Harley is brilliant at his recall, is quick to look at me when I ask for his attention and waits perfectly by the back gate until I open it and tell him he can walk through. We are still working hard on our heal work but I've seen a huge improvement in him! 

A big thank you to Mark for all his help with training Harley and the advice. Every week is different and exciting for all of the dogs! I definitely recommend Mark to all dog owners wishing to train their new puppy's or would like their animal friend to become a gun dog

Acer dog training is fantastic. In a lovely setting with plenty of space to work. Learnt so much from how to heal my puppy as well as now onto more advanced things such as memory retrieves. 

Eden has come on leaps and bounds and I'm really looking forward to carrying on all the way through. Eden is 5 months old and can heal off the lead. Sit, stay, retrieve, recall, and steadiness. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Just had a training session with Mark and my young working cocker, Spider. Mark was great, he explained everything clearly and we learnt loads. He made me feel welcome and relaxed. Spider also loved it as he put no pressure on her and went at her pace! He lowered the criteria when she struggled and upped the criteria when she needed to go up a gear. 

We will definitely return and join the group classes and more 1 2 1's. Would highly recommend him.

I had been taking my springer spaniel puppy to local puppy classes and found that they were no longer challenging her. I looked around for other things to mentally challenge her and found acer gundog training. Mark managed to fit us in really quickly and Luna and I have loved going. 

We have seen great progress with her loose lead walking, stopping and recall which we were really struggling with before we went- this makes taking her out on walks so much more enjoyable! 

Mark and Tori are really friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable and are always able to mould the training to make sure your dog succeeds. Luna really enjoys the sessions and they are challenging for her. Having an extremely active springer spaniel, we are so pleased to see how tired out she is after training! Can’t recommend enough for people with pet gundogs who want to improve their obedience and stimulate their minds!

I always knew that I wanted a Working Cocker Spaniel so when I brought Murphy home, finding the right training was very important as my aim is to work Murphy on local shoots. 

I found Acer Gundog Training on line and after reading nothing but positive reviews, I contacted Mark and was lucky enough to be offered a place for Murphy at gundog puppy classes which we both thoroughly enjoyed and learnt so much thanks to the expertise of Mark and Tori. We now attend the junior gundog class and we are both still learning so much in an enjoyable environment with like minded owners. 

I can’t recommend Acer Gundog Training enough. Mark & Tori are so knowledgable and the classes are well organised and we look forward to them each week.

I stumbled upon Acer through Facebook and immediately started following as I love my gundogs and hoped one day I would be able to train with Mark. We then rehomed a 6 year old cocker spaniel who although fairly well behaved I wanted to feel more in control on walks as she would go quite far ahead of me. 

I contacted Mark to have a few one to one sessions particularly focusing on recall to the whistle but also loose lead walking. From only having three sessions spread over a couple of months I already feel much more in control which makes walking her so much more enjoyable. 

We thoroughly enjoyed our sessions and hope to join a group class in the near future!

I have a young Bracco- we were recommended acer gundog training by a friend. The first class Hugo was a nightmare... noisy and wouldn’t even sit! 

Within just one course he’s come on so well - his retrieving was weak but he now loves it! He focusses on me and it’s genuinely a joy to train him. They only use positive methods which I love and it’s proof they work. We both love Sunday mornings! 

Mark and his team and understanding and never once made me feel like a failure even when Hugo was just being a noisy oddball who just wanted to play with the dummy. I’m proud of my puppy now! There are few places that have such a good understanding of each individual breed and can tailor it accordingly.

We came across Acer by chance whilst using trusty google to find a trainer for our 15 week old cocker spaniel. We were keen to get started quickly and take advantage of his young age and although Acer were fully booked straight away, they were able to accommodate us within a couple of weeks of enquiring. 

 Genuinely the best thing we could have done. Ben has come on amazingly since we started 11 months ago and progressed quickly from puppy class to beginner class. We are looking forward to the next step. He loves his classes and he and I have learned so much. We are still learning and each week we take away something new. 

Mark and Tori are fantastic and have a great mix of intense training as well as making the class fun. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

We have been taking Daisy, our German Shorthaired Pointer puppy, to Acer Gundog Training classes since she was 13 weeks old. As first time gundog owners we have found the classes invaluable - both as a learning curve for us, for Daisy and for strengthening our bond. 

We have noticed a transformation in her ability to listen and focus as well as her general obedience, which is making her a fun dog to own. It is clear that she benefits from the positive reinforcement techniques advocated by Mark and his team as well as the interaction with other dogs in the class environment - we have become very fond of our Sunday morning group! Now she is 8 months old we are greatly benefiting from the foundations we have established through the classes and can see she is developing into a well-rounded and responsive dog as a result. 

The classes stimulate her mentally as well as physically and we look forward to progressing further.

We found out about Acer gundog training through a recommendation (in fact I think the exact words were ‘Mark is a dog whisperer’!). 

It was very important to us to have a content happy dog, and although we aren’t planning on working him I liked the idea of him having the mental stimulation and learning the activities he was bred to do. 

The classes are excellent. The exercises are varied, and gives us the tools to practice the training outside of the class. The tea break allows the puppies to socialise with each other and for the owners to ask any questions. 

The trainers always have tips and ideas about how to deal with any unwanted behaviour. We can absolutely see the impact the classes are having on Jet, he has learnt so much in a relatively short space of time. We are delighted that Jet has now progressed into the beginner gundog class and can’t wait to see his development. I would highly recommend acer gundog training to anyone who owns a gundog.

I picked Acer Gundog training because they seemed to really know what they were talking about on their website and seemed just what I was looking for. I wanted a class that trained to a high standard and I could take forwards to any level I wanted using a positive reinforcement technique. 

I have not been disappointed. The training is excellent and I am amazed at how well we have come on. We have had Dougie for 3 months and he is now so well trained I get comments from other dog walkers. 

I would recommend Acer to anyone no matter what level they want to take their dog training to.

We signed up to training classes by Acer after a recommendation from a friend, and couldn't be happier with our choice! 

The classes are enjoyable, informative and Arro learns so much, all whilst having fun! 

Tori's knowledge is vast and her enthusiasm is infectious, and this shows in the results in such a short space of time. I'm a huge believer in positive reinforcement training and look forward to continuing with our training classes for a long time to come 😀

Lovely informative and understanding trainer, everyone is so friendly and a good place to work outdoors learning skills to help achieve a well behaved dog. 

Everything is explained thoroughly and help is there when you need it, it is great to learn in such a positive way, whether you want to work your dog or to achieve a pet to be proud of.

Personal visits are always going to be more expensive than group classes (which we will also be starting) but the knowledge and advice and peace of mind that Mark gave me in those 2 hours was absolutely priceless. 

I was feeling a little overwhelmed and nervous - I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and not accidentally causing problems in the future. Now I feel really confident and so much more relaxed training and playing with my little one in the proper way! 

Mark answered all of my million questions, and gave me really important tips about things I hadn’t even considered, even after reading all of the recommended books. 

If you are getting a new puppy, I really recommend you book yourself in for a home visit and get started on the right foot in that precious time between picking the puppy up and starting puppy classes when vaccinated! You don’t get that time back - it’s an important investment!

Had our first session with Mark and our 16wk Hungarian Vizsla. We chose Acer after a recommendation from our obedience trainer due to their Positve+ only methods and techniques. we were not disappointed. 

Our 1-2-1 session consisted of Mark finding out all about us, and what our current challenges were with our dog and understanding of his currently capability. Mark identified the need to help us teach the dog to settle, sit and begin eye contact. We practised in the field and he then set us easy to follow homework on these topics. 

It has been really fun working on the training and we are seeing results! If you are looking for supportive, step by step, patient and kind gun-dog training don't hesitate.

We have got an 18month old working English Springer Spaniel, and even though he is first and foremost a family dog we realised quite quickly that for him training could not end after puppy class, so ever since we got him last year we kept searching for an opportunity to take him to gundog training. 

As first time dog owners who don t go hunting we were a bit anxious about ending up in a traditional gundog group with people with years of experience in that field though.. After doing lots of research we then found the Acer website, and it sounded like this might be exactly the kind of reward based training that could work for us. 

We contacted Acer and got booked in for a 1-2-1 session with Tori, which was fantastic! Her understanding and knowledge of the way Springers behave is amazing, and I went home with so much incredibly helpful advice on our specific situation! It suddenly made sense why some things I had learned earlier in classes and from books did not completely apply to our dog, or had to be modified so they could work. 

We have since joined the beginners gundog class, again being trained by Tori, and so far our dog has loved every single session, and we have both learned loads and always go home happy and as a better team. We will certainly continue!

I've been training my 2 sprockers with Acer for a few months now, and always really look forward to our sessions on a Saturday. The team have got amazing knowledge on dog psychology, and we feel like we understand a spaniel brain better as a result. 

Our dogs are always excited to get to training and enjoy the sessions so much. 

We couldn't recommend Acer more, their positive approach to dog training makes it fun and enjoyable for both dogs and humans! Our only regret is that we didn't start our first dog sooner! John

I've been really impressed by the professional nature of the training at Acer. Russ and Gemma are great at explaining clearly how to work with your dog, and it's an encouraging and fun group to be in. 

It has given me so much confidence in how I interact with Rusty. Will definitely be moving on to the next class to continue the journey.

We contacted them for help training the basics for our labrador pup. The time that Mark spent with us in person and on email helping to guide and reassure us in the early days was hugely appreciated, and so was the whole team's patience in the face of a bombardment of questions. 

Both Russ and Tori have been amazing at class - genuinely showing an interest in how we’re getting on and they are always happy to chat through any new challenges we have. Classes are really fun and because they are outdoors, it challenges the pup's concentration in a more realistic environment. It also gives them the space they need to learn without distractions close by. 

Acer have really helped us build our confidence with little Luna after a tricky start and we're looking forward to progressing with her training now that we've navigated through the first few months of chaos!

A work colleague told me about Acer when I mentioned that I would like to train my Labrador puppy (Leo) firstly to be obedient and well-mannered and secondly in the future maybe train as a gundog. Looking at their website they came across as being very professional and knowledgeable. 

I booked a puppy home visit and my first impressions were elevated when Mark and Russ arrived. Chatting away over a drink we discussed what I wanted out of the training and they even gave me some useful information on what food I maybe should be looking at for Leo. We finished off the home visit with a mini training session in the garden putting Leo (and his handler) through their paces and going through what sort of exercises to expect at Puppy Gun Dog training. 

 I signed Leo up without hesitation and we started our first class a week later. We have now been going for around 3 months working with Mark, Tori and Russ on a weekly basis, the training is informative and fun, and the class sizes are just right. 

Both Leo and I enjoy taking away the exercises to perform the following week and we try and fit them in to our daily routine. We have now graduated from Puppy class and have moved up to Beginner class. 

I would recommend Acer in a heartbeat whether you want to do basic training or if you want to train to gundog level.

Great news for Tsar and myself , we have gained promotion to the adult gundog classes. We have really enjoyed the puppy classes and learnt so much , I can't recommend it enough as a starting platform for yourself and puppy.

We did a lot of research when looking at where and how to train our puppy Walter and despite not 'working' him we're so glad we chose to train with Acer Gundog Training. 

We've learnt there's a lot more than meets the eye when owning our beloved working dogs and Acer provide the training and support to suit their needs. The trainers are fantastic, great fun and super supportive, with no question being too daft or asked too many times!! 

And not only that having a weekly forum to speak to other owners has been an unexpected added bonus. I cannot recommend training with these guys enough.

Just finished a series of 1-2-1’s at Acer Gundog Training and highly recommend them. 

It’s been so useful to get some breed specific training, delivered in manageable and understandable chunks. Sometimes the whole training thing becomes overwhelming with too much information to take on board. Having a few clear objectives to focus and practice on each week has made training fun again.

Highly recommend Acer Gundog Training! 

After doing two rounds of obedience training with our dog we wanted to do some specific breed training for him and Acer were the best place for them. We’ve completed two courses, foundation and improvers course, over the last 12 weeks wanting to focus on fun stimulation for our dog and heeling and recall for us. We can see a massive improvement thanks to all of the lessons and guidance from the experienced trainers at Acer. 

We have learnt how to heel properly, retrieving dummies and recall to voice and whistle which is amazing. Our dog used to just want to zoom around on his walks running everywhere, now he takes his time to sniff around and actually explore his surroundings also we now play retrieve with the canvas dummy while we are out and he loves it. 

Thank you for all of the lessons, advice and guidance, I am so proud of our boy with his progress and even more pleased he passed his first exam! Really looking forward to returning in the future to do the next set of courses.

It’s not a question about what my dog can do but the understanding that I have to be patient and take baby steps with him, not to skip training process, slow down. I really enjoy the videos, very easy to follow. I also love reading what other people’s dogs are doing and how they learn. Definitely join Acer Gundog Training, the techniques are fantastic and precise.

I had a fantastic experience with the six week private gun dog training. Hellen was incredibly patient and explained everything clearly, making each session easy to understand and follow. My dog is older and can be quite stubborn at times, but Hellen always had multiple approaches to achieve the same result if one method wasn't working. Her knowledge, flexibility, and calm approach gave me confidence and made the training enjoyable for both me and my dog. I would highly recommend her and Acer to anyone looking for professional and effective gun dog training.

Started our puppy at 6 months old less a week or two. At 7 months we had a family reunion in Poulsbo, WA. and puppy had first experience in a tourist town with lots of people. She was well behaved, and would settle at my feet when i would sit at one of the benches and just relax while scores of people walked by. We even had lunch at an outdoor restaurant that allowed dogs. She was settled the whole time we sat and ate. That was a big win for only 4 weeks of training.

Bilbo and I have thoroughly enjoyed this course. It has been fun with engaging games and lessons which Bilbo has responded to very well. His recall has really improved and when we are off lead the elastic walking activity has meant that he does not stray too far. I love the instructional videos plus the write ups below them which help me to get the most out of the course. I also find that Mark responds personally to you regarding the training with helpful tips and advice to keep you on track - that can take the form of a message or a video. It is reassuring to know he is there to help and guide if you have any issues. I paid for the beginner gun dog training and got that plus the improver course. I consider it very good value for money for the content plus Mark’s personal involvement and guidance. I wouldn’t hesitate to use acer dogs for training.

I have really enjoyed Marks program, it’s split into many different disciplines and very easy to follow. I will continue to refer to it even though the course has been completed. Keep up the good work.

If you've found Acer Gundog Training because you would like to do something special for your dog then you're in the right place. I found Mark because I was struggling with my black lab bitch puppy, Grace. I hadn't had a pup in 20 years and I felt I was failing her. I lacked the confidence and knowledge to be able to train her in a way that would give her the very best life and us the perfect companion. 

The Acer Gundog course has been life-changing for both us and Grace. I have grown in confidence and Grace is living her best life. The skills that we've learnt together are relevant to every area of our time with Grace, from walks, car travel, meeting people and other dogs, quiet evenings in front of the TV and a visit to the local pub. I very quickly realised that training happens all the time, not just when completing a module, but in pretty much everything we do with her. Consistency is key and remember, it's a marathon not a sprint. 

The support given to us by both Mark and the Acer community is excellent. I was dubious about doing this online, but I needn't have been because it's actually pretty perfect. You can work through the modules at your own speed, revisit things if you think a bit of a reset or reminder might be useful and watch the module videos as many times as you need to. Help is just a message away and the Chat Forum has an excellent search option so you can see if an issue has been raised before. It's also very reassuring to look back at what other people have struggled with if you're feeling a bit discouraged and in need of reassurance. The community is lovely and very encouraging. 

The course has deepened our bond with Grace and really made dog ownership fun and enjoyable. I can't recommend Mark and Acer Gundog Training enough. It's absolutely the gift that keeps on giving; for today, tomorrow and all the other tomorrows.

This time last year Desmond Lab was 8 weeks old. He is intelligent , quick to learn & desperate to please. The structure of junior gundog course helped us to learn, practise succeed and bond in a fabulous way. I have completed the ACER Gundog Puppy Course and it is exactly what I wanted for my 14 week old puppy Jake. It's well-structured, bite size exercises, using positive methods and the videos are just super. I particularly like the explanations on Lowering Criteria and Raising Criteria at the end of each exercise. The experience of doing the Gundog Puppy Course has enthused me to carry on learning with Acer by doing further courses and I am looking forward to giving my puppy a solid foundation to build his gundog journey on. This course was exactly what I wanted and I will be recommending it to my gundog friends.

It's the small wins that matter. Sitting when asked (and now sometimes without!), waiting whilst I go over a stile, coming through when called. The training works for me and my dog because we work at our own pace, sometimes backwards, sometimes forwards. But whatever the direction, each time we have fun, learn, make progress and strengthen our bond. The online training is easy to understand, delivered in digestible chunks that explain and show you what to do. Because they're not too long I'll watch a video 3 or 4 times to be sure I understand before trying with my dog.
