But after getting a feel for the group you are about to become a part of, it becomes a close team of peers all working on the same goal - to excel in your role and support your internal team and ultimately the client. You are provided tools to help become more organized and strategic. Don't hesitate to communicate with the GenuineShift team or your other team members throughout the course and beyond. There is so much knowledge to gain from another perspective and find solutions to your questions. The biggest take away for me is communication is key. Be clear and concise with your fact finding and responses to your client. They are looking for someone to lead them through and be a partner in this benefits relationship!

A key part of the process involves understanding what both the client and the producer/sales executive consider to be successful engagement. I was worried this would feel like another dry CME course, but it turned out to be the opposite. I looked forward to our weekly meetings, with engaging videos, practical tools, and immediate takeaways. I liked the real-life examples and practical advice to make the situation better. I used the “Ask A Coach” feature via phone or video messaging a few times. It was easy to explain the problem, and getting a response from several coaches helped get other points of view. Use the techniques offered - Avoid the swirl. These are things that you can do and put into practice on the same day, and it makes a difference in your work and mindset. I’d encourage ALL leadership to allow staff to go through this program. I’ve been an account manager for over 15 years and learned a lot during this program. Plus, the availability of my coaches and the live open group forum were most helpful if I had an issue. Not to mention, I was able to share what worked for me in the past to help others in my cohort.

The insurance world is a tough industry to navigate. Learning on the go can be challenging. From day one, I thought the program was excellent. It's a little of everything from the newest account managers to those on the senior side. The program discusses a variety of topics from stress management to client communications (my highest priority), and even gives you the opportunity to see what other account managers are doing throughout the industry at different firms.
The program also helps put real-life situations to practical use by having weekly assignments that are direct and to the point and then can be dissected and briefed the following class. Hearing from peers from different places, different walks of life, and different levels of experience was incredibly valuable. I appreciated learning from experienced pros and my peers who experience similar stresses and challenges. The live sessions allowed us to learn from each other and offer suggestions for real-time issues/problems we were facing. The coaching helped me get more organized with my approach to managing my workflows and my calendar. I learned the importance of focus time, both for big and smaller tasks. I appreciated seeing that I am not alone in the challenges we face such as having too much to do in one possible day, but that we have tools at our disposal to help get things done. The fact that my company values my work and is investing in my growth as an account manager means a lot to me. I am looking forward to a much less stressful "busy season" with more tools and processes, and a better understanding of the flows of the renewal and sales cycles.
