While the demos didn’t ultimately lead to anything, I now have the confidence and skills 1) not to get discouraged, 2) to self-reflect and figure out patterns I may be trapped in that are causing me to be rejected, and 3) clear, actionable steps to continue to find leads and potential clients. If anything, you should take this course because it will teach you about yourself and help you to feel connected and confident in your career goals. There's so much content in this course, I will be referring back to it for advice for years to come. Each week is packed with concise and actionable content to get you laying the groundwork for your own music composing business. With Zach's content, guidance, and encouragement, I've gone from "Man, I'd really like to start taking on paid composing work this year" to scheduling several networking calls each week, publishing a demo reel website to share with folks, and making actual pitches for paid gigs all in the span of just a few weeks. If you're looking for a course to evaluate your scores, talk about advanced orchestration concepts, or learn about writing to film cues, this is not really the place. When I came across the Composing Career Bootcamp by Zach Heyde, I was skeptical that it would be helpful for me. You see, I primarily compose music for choirs, not action scenes 😁. Purchasing the Composing Career Bootcamp was one of the best decisions I made in recent years. I’ve wanted to become a full-time media composer for a long time, but I never knew how to meet the right people in the industry. I realised as part of this course that it's not who you know that counts, it's actually about who knows you! With this course, Zach has made networking, marketing and working with clients much more accessible to those who find the business side of composing to be a confusing hassle! Within the six weeks of the course, I have made a showreel and resumé, created a YouTube video, discovered how much I should charge, made connections with several game developers and animators, and already started working with a couple of clients.
