Although my membership just started recently, I can say that the double bass drumming program has already helped me a lot. Before joining the DTA, I knew neither what to practice nor how to practice properly. I used to follow the "all at once" approach, meaning I aimed to learn the ankle technique motion by playing at the kit. Needless to say, it was a mess, and I did not make any progress at all. Now, after 17 days of practicing the two initial exercises, including two rounds of feedback from Marthyn, I finally know what and how to practice. It was a bit frustrating to see how little I was able to do in the beginning, but I also realized it had been the right decision to join Marthyn's program. Regarding my progress so far, I have become better at just using my calf muscles while relaxing my upper leg and my shin muscles. My beater swing has increased a bit, and the number of consecutive strokes (swings) has roughly doubled for my left foot and tripled for my right foot. I’m a very slow learner when it comes to motion sequences, so to me, that’s a tremendous success for such a short time! Of course, this flat learning curve plus 30 years of “practicing“ the wrong techniques are no small obstacles, so I know a long, bumpy road is still ahead of me. However, my experiences thus far with the exercises as well as with Marthyn's advice have reassured me that his program really works and will help me reach my goals! I’m going back to practice now. ;) Greetings from Oldenburg André

So far so good! Only 2 weeks in and really starting to understand the correct muscle groups I should be using and feel like I am turning the corner towards performing the ankle technique properly. Very excited to continue!

Hi Marthyn! Despite that I have not asked for any reviews so far,I can certainly tell that I have improved. Awecourse there's still room for improvement but I'm motivated. Summa summarum: the course worth every penny! Cheers! Gábor

Hello DTA-Family, when i startet a phonecall with Marthyn, i stucked playing clean doublebase at 130-140 bpm and was not able to play consistant patterns. My goal was to reach the 190 bpm clean and consistant. After the first month of learning and practicing all the stuff from the DTA course i was already able to have a constant beaterswing at 170 and learnd to use the one and only musclegroup to reach my goals. For me it was not a 28-Day thing, because if you played for a long time drums, you first have to change your habbits - that was my key to get the ankle technique solid. After 8 month i was able to play the 190 bpm with ease even short patterns were a walkover. Thanks to Marthyn for helping me to get to this big progress in this short time...btw i tried it with all the stuff on youtube for 3 years without a result, so I startet with the DTA. I am very happy joining to the Drum Technique Academy. Marthyn gave me essential tools to improve my double bass drumming. This journey just started, but I am seeing the firsts results learning the ankle's technique.

I really like this academy, beacause MARTHYN sees our videos and gives us always feedbacks on what I need to focus every new weeks. Right now, I'am working each foot separatly at tempo 180-190bpm. I made progress, and saw some problems that I had, like to far from the pedals or the Seat height. And I had directly some results. So I think, that I'm close to my objective and in a few days, I think I'll be able to play with both feet. I don't regret to be here. And I'm excited to see all the other chapters. And for all the New drummers on the family, BE PATIENT! A New technic takes Time to learn 😊 Greetings from Luxembourg. Romain Gruselle

I joined DTA 6 months back and it’s the best decision I’ve made when it comes to drumming. Before DTA, I used to be pretty sloppy when it came to double bass and I couldn’t even play a consistent single stroke roll, but after learning under Marthyn, what I couldn’t achieve in the last 8 years, I did in the last 6 months. Through the course, all my doubts were cleared right away and Marthyn is the most technically proficient drummer & teacher I have ever encountered! Thank you so much for reigniting my passion and helping me take my drumming to the next level. Cheers from India -Mukund

I knew Marthyn‘s work from his other products, but the DTA is really the top of it! The coaching is great and productive so far. The best for me are the tricks and hacks in the double bass challenge to solve the problems in constant motion and different tempos. I‘ll keep on training to reach my goals. Thank you!

Drum Technique Academy has impacted my drumming journey by doing three things: 1. It has helped me tighten up my double bass by deliberately focusing on where my weaknesses are and improving them. 2. It has helped me learn deliberate practice needed to learn new techniques. 3. It has improved the power and dexterity of my hands and feet behind the kit. I’d recommend this program to new and seasoned double bass players.

I am really happy to be a part of DTA family. It is not my first technically course, but it is the first one that did my progress flow. I started to focus on specific groups of muscles to become better in the foot playing. Thank you Marthyn for your coaching, support and feedbacks. No time to talk, keep calm and practice!

I genuinely like the personal approach you can get in the Academy. I could get answers to a lot of questions that had raised during my independent practice sessions, and the possibility to have an experienced second opinion on those has helped me advance further!

1) All good at the moment. Video materials are concise and on-point. Questions are being answered really quickly. 2) I think the best thing is weekly video-reporting and personal feedback. It's not only a technical aspect, but a mental one - some important extra confidence when things go shitty or not as expected.

It really focusses on the basics and when you trust that progress, the results are coming in. I have tried a lot of different methods and had no success because i was doubting everything because of lack of progress. The exercises are really good to focus on the fundaments ! It was an eye-opener for me and i will continue my work !

Double bass has always been my achilles heel, despite having fast hands - double-bass is something I never really knew how to even start with. I'm now at a place where I'm able to not only understand the fundamentals of fast double-bass drumming, but I'm applying those fundamentals - which has enabled me to actually feel confident and as a result - progress is coming fast. The personalised feedback I get from Marthyn on my progress videos is excellent, it's exactly what someone like me needs - who wants to learn, I just need to be shown properly.
