I recently began my PhD journey, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have Professor Emmanuel Tsekleves as a mentor during this important phase. From the very start, he has been generous with his time —meeting with me regularly, reviewing my work in detail, and patiently answering my many questions. The detailed feedback provided by Professor Emmanuel Tsekleves exceeds expectations because it both challenges me to develop critical thinking skills and helps me enhance my work. His dedication to spending extra time for meetings and listening, and providing guidance has substantially impacted my academic growth. Starting a PhD can be overwhelming, but having such a supportive and knowledgeable advisor has made a world of difference. I deeply appreciate his dedication, and I look forward to learning more under his guidance and continuing to work with him.

He always inspires and motivates me in a most possible way which helped me a lot during this period. I would like to extend all my heartfelt gratitude to him.

Emmanuel's insider knowledge of hiring committees was invaluable. For the first time, I understood what they were actually looking for instead of guessing. The 75-second rule completely changed how I wrote my applications. I realised my cover letters were burying the key information committees needed to see immediately. After learning about the hidden psychology of academic hiring, I stopped writing generic applications and started addressing their real concerns about fit and sustainability. The difference was immediate. Within two months of implementing the 6P system, I had my first interview in over a year of applications.

The 6P Framework gave me confidence and clarity. I finally had a roadmap instead of just hoping for the best. What impressed me most was how Emmanuel broke down exactly what hiring committees discuss in those closed-door meetings. Understanding that they're looking for the 'safest choice' rather than the 'most brilliant researcher' changed everything about how I positioned myself. The research identity work was transformative. I can now explain my work clearly and memorably in 60 seconds, which has opened doors beyond just job applications. Even my networking conversations are more productive because I have clarity about my unique value proposition.

The systematic approach completely changed how I presented myself. No more random applications. Everything became strategic and purposeful. Before the program, I was applying to 20+ positions with a generic CV and hoping something would stick. The STEPS framework taught me to research each institution deeply, translate what they really wanted, and customise every document accordingly. I went from a 0 interviews to landing interviews at 2 out of my next 5 applications. The quality over quantity approach saved me months of wasted effort and gave me confidence that I was presenting myself as the ideal candidate for each specific position.

I had the privilege of hosting Prof. Emmanuel Tsekleves for a virtual workshop with our PhD students at Texas A&M University. His session on transitioning from PhD to postdoc positions was exceptional in both content and delivery. Emmanuel brought a rare combination of academic credibility and genuine empathy to the workshop. As Director of the Future Cities Research Institute and a professor at a top-ranked university, he shared insider perspectives on the academic hiring process that our students found invaluable. His structured 4-step approach to securing postdoc positions was practical, actionable, and grounded in real-world experience. What truly set Emmanuel's workshop apart was his authentic commitment to helping early-career researchers navigate the challenges he once faced himself. Rather than presenting an idealized academic journey, he shared both struggles and successes, creating an environment where students felt comfortable asking meaningful questions about their own career paths. The feedback from our doctoral candidates was overwhelmingly positive, with many specifically noting how Emmanuel demystified the often opaque academic hiring process. His ability to balance strategic career advice with empathetic mentorship made a lasting impression on our students. I recommend Emmanuel for academic career development workshops. His expertise, teaching ability, and genuine dedication to supporting the next generation of researchers make him an exceptional resource for any university looking to prepare PhD students for successful academic careers.

Emmanuel was very supportive and helped me to plan my career path, focusing on key milestones and long-term planning, rather than short achievements that might not be as significant as one believes. Since I started working with Emmanuel, he was very keen on supporting my career development. We made a clear plan, set realistic milestones, and developed project ideas. When the time to apply for my lectureship came, Emmanuel supported me by reviewing my application and setting up a mock job interview which was very helpful. He gave me tips to improve my answers and we had a conversation about how he saw my interview as someone that has conducted several job interviews. I enjoyed working with Emmanuel! The best part of working with Emmanuel was that I felt supported when I needed to make a complicated career choice. Emmanuel provided me with objective guidance to assess my options, making me feel more comfortable with my decision. With Emmanuel’s guidance, I got my first grant as a PI and my Lectureship!
