[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I had been recommending this course and your free content on my unit for WEEKS. Nobody seemed super interested. I left out a copy of your ICU drip chart at my nurses station one shift… lo and behold I suddenly noticed photocopies of it at the other nurse stations, taped to other more experienced RNs' clipboards. It even showed up in my 'helpful references file' from our unit educator… funny thing. After that, I had a few nurses approach me to ask about this course, saying that our manager suggested they ask me about it. I raved, of course!!

In response to a feedback survey, Alexander confirmed that 'Breakthrough ICU' covered the right amount of material, was priced correctly, and was beneficial!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Where to start, the teacher, the content, the delivery... everything was awesome. Thanks for being so passionate about what you do and being so willing to share your knowledge, in a way that is really accessible. It's an excellent course and I hope you get to take far and wide.

I would 100% recommend Breakthrough ICU. It targets especially new nurses coming into the ICU. Ashley and Kati address all the important concepts to know as a new nurse in the ICU. You don't feel like your head is going to explode because the information is presented in a way that is concise and only what you should REALLY know as a new nurse is addressed! They talk also about soft skills, self compassion. They really help you prepare mentally for what is ahead!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Helped review the simple stuff to provide a greater understanding- many multiple little moments where I understood what was ordered and why- esp so I could better explain to patients.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] The portion of the lessons regarding maintaining boundaries were extremely helpful in providing me with confidence and validation when working alongside my colleagues and providers.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] It kept me humble knowing it takes years to perfect your craft as an ICU nurse!
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I think I liked it because it made me feel like I was able to take my learning into my own hands. I felt I had done as much as I could to prepare for the transition.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I could not wait to finish this course (in a good way). My orientation was going fast and this Breakthrough ICU course gave me so much needed information that was somewhat lacking from my orientation at work. This course exceeded my expectations. It took me longer than 6 weeks, but I made sure to finish all the way through because it is so beneficial. This course touches on EVERYTHING an ICU Nurse will need. Amazing. I am grateful. Now I have more confidence and can go be great. Thank You! Thank you! Thank you.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Very informative.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Super helpful to have this content alongside my new grad program. I really appreciated the weekly worksheets and things like the "common ICU drips" list. This really helped keep me focused and learning on my days off.
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Loved this course! I learned a lot! Wish there were more photos, case studies, and practice questions! I would recommend this course to other new ICU nurses!
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Loved the course and will keep referring back to it week by week of orientation! I would love more photos and videos though! Thank you!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Hi ladies overall great content! I really enjoyed the latter half of this course, the first few episodes were like another member said, not really for me (although my previous experience is as a tech and not a nurse). I really appreciated that portion being "dripped" down to us and enjoyed the way you explained it. I know you all are really busy and may not get a chance to listen to the voiceovers, but some of them came out a bit choppy with inconsistent volume. Perhaps a different mic could help make the volume more consistent?

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Amazing content

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I appreciated the simplification of ABGs.
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I learned so much, even as a tele nurse!
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Great course to get exposure to new medications, processes, machines and protocols that will be found in the ICU. I appreciated the brevity, but at the same time I would more in depth look into how the medications work. I really enjoyed the focus on emotional coping and growth. It is a very overwhelming and intimidating unit. The reminder that this will be a process has been very helpful.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Great and simplified content that is easy to follow for someone who has recently switched from medsurg to critical care nursing.
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] For how complex critical care is, this course taught me in the most SIMPLISTIC way. This was such a great class to get down to the basics of how ICU works. So grateful and recommending this course to every new ICU nurse/grad I know!
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course not only made things easier to understand, but also helped to ease a lot of my anxiety going into critical care as a new grad. I felt that my challenging emotions as a new grad were validated, and this was a safe place to learn and ask questions.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Very good course. I wish I took this course before the ICU orientation.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I feel like this course helped me familiarize topics that I would be exposed to in ICU. I feel more confident in my abilities to navigate in the ICU.
Feb 2, 2023
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course was amazing and really helped with a good base to walk in looking less like a deer in headlights! Anything that flew straight over my head I listened to after I experienced it on the floor, and it helped solidify what I was learning in practice!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course solidified my understanding from nursing school and gave me a head start at my first ICU position.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Great resource for a new ICU nurse!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Thank you so much for this course!! This course turned an avalanche of information, that I would have had to look for myself in multiples sources, into a small hill of information that I was able to clearly understand. It was very straight forward and anticipated my needs for a new ICU nurse. It allowed me to ask questions, and brought me so much clarity when it came to working day-to-day at a hospital. Every nurse has their own understanding of each of these concepts which I respect, but with so many different takes and their voice having no reference or source, I was looking for a solid foundation I could refer back to and look deeper into, and this course provided just that. I feel so much more confident. I really appreciated the segment about our emotional well-being because I neglected this for so long, before even going to the ICU and it cut my ICU adventure short because of burn out. I look forward to using this new perspective to go back to the ICU and share with other nurses.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course helped me feel more confident starting in an ICU after working in Med-surg for several years.
Feb 15, 2023
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Starting in the ICU was a terrifying step for me. I had always wanted to work in the ICU but the concepts and skills around that were very scary for me. This course helped to soften the blow of the complexity of the ICU environment, helped me learn to be compassionate towards myself and reminded me that it's okay to not know things. I cannot recommend this course enough, not just for new graduates but nurses at all ages and stages moving into the ICU for the first time.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I was better able to understand why certain pressors are used in certain patient populations. As well as I felt more prepared walking into work with COVID, as I knew the mechanics behind proning patients and how it benefits them.
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I've only completed weeks 1 and 2. The concept of a human moment, being real with my co workers, the exercises on report, and the self compassion break concept have been very helpful. The other night I was pulled from orientation one day early and given a 19yo female, detoxing, in DKA, with multiple accesses, constant diarrhea, and a fem line (and my other pt was Covid with a HR of 30-40, refusing a drip and a full code). I would have lost it if I didn't take a moment and acknowledge that I was in a stressful moment and that it was human of me to be there.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Thank you so much for the wealth of information!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Thank you so much!!! This course has been so helpful, and I've learned so much! I would love a sedation drug reversal list to be included. Thanks!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Great refresher course. Very well organized and easy to understand.
Dec 13, 2022
[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] At first I wanted all of the content at once, but I ended up loving the weekly drop because it gave me time to fully understand and comprehend some of the more difficult topics for me. The disease process was the most intriguing because I loved the 3D interactions getting down to the path of the process. I know some people were commenting on it being basic; I don't mind because unit, processes, and medications expectations are different. I would like more in the ABG section and some interventions to expect. I love the report sections because it gave me time to make a report sheet and practice taking report and give me an idea on what to expect and ask. Overall I appreciate the hard work and will be referring back to this information.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I enjoyed how compressed this course was and goes over the important basics to start in the ICU. I would appreciate if there were drawings/ images. The language used in this course was very easy to understand. I have not started out in the ICU just yet, but if there were images on what the ventilator looks like, what the swan/ pa catheters look like, it'd be great. I understand this course is designed for a range of nursing knowledge, new grad to non-critical care experience, however, the main parts of the ICU that I feel are so different from transferring from med/surg to ICU, are the monitoring equipments, hemodynamic values, and ICU IV drips/ meds. If these sections could be focused on and expanded more, I think we would be much more prepared for the ICU.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course has been absolutely amazing!!!! It has been extremely helpful. I felt like I had another preceptor for the entire time. I’ve only been off orientation for about two months, but I had a year of med/surg experience as well and I still learned so much! Thank you for this awesome course. I have recommended it to everyone I know who wants to go to the ICU!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Most importantly I want to say thank you so much for your courses, I'm a new grad Surgical ICU nurse and having the info readily available for me to review at home is SO helpful. I also appreciate how well you break the concepts down, it really helps me build a bit of a structure in my head for the different diseases and devices I'm learning to use. The stuff about confidence and being okay with making mistakes is something I really struggle with so the first section was exactly what I needed, too. This course has been such an incredible resource for me, I've been on my own for about 4 months now and having this to look back to for review has been so helpful.
