Volunteering for Luv Michael was a very fun experience and has taught me crucial life skills like advocacy, research and fundraising. Luv Michael opened up my point of view to things that I never knew was a problem in our society like adults with autism. To know that what you are doing is actually giving back to the community just makes you feel like true hero and should be recognized for the president’s service reward.

Being a volunteer for LuvMichael helped me realize that opportunities don't come to you; you make them. LuvMichael gives work opportunities to adults on the autism spectrum. As a volunteer, I earned 40 verified service hours and all my volunteer work was completely online. I was able to advocate, collect resources and raise funds for LuvMichael. Luv Michael is an amazing nonprofit with a very clear goal and transparent instructions. Aside from the ease of dealing with such an organization, the actual experience of volunteering for them will open your perspectives in multiple new ways about the autism community, especially adults within the community. It was an amazing opportunity to learn with people with autism and get to know how their lives are. I really loved this program!

Volunteering with the Luv Michael program has been a powerful learning experience. Starting with the onboarding Zoom call, I realized how overlooked the adult autistic community is, learning that up to 90% of autistic adults are unemployed. Before this, I mainly associated autism with children, but hearing the truth about adulthood made me realize how severe the crisis truly is. The Luv Micheal program also showed me that I, a 17-year-old high schooler, am strong enough to make a real "change" for the better of our society. Through fundraising, spreading awareness, and emailing representatives, I learned that my voice can help push for better resources and support. This was important to me because one of my biggest virtues in life is "change"; I tend to worry that I'm not enough to help those who are put at a disadvantage. However, the Luv Micheal program gave me all the necessary tools to effect change in my community. Ultimately, my favorite part of volunteering was sharing what I learned with my friends, family, and classmates. Most of them had never considered the challenges autistic adults face, and watching them become interested in helping was incredibly rewarding.
