I have taken several of Eileen’s courses over the years and she always delivers a high-level experience with no judgement and a personal touch. Her Meditation Training Training was no exception. I went into the course with an open mind and no clear objectives. I just knew that I loved meditation and I wanted to explore ways to introduce others to its magic. The meditation teacher training program was an amazing experience. I learned to overcome my fear of recording my voice, how to structure a meditation offering, and (do important) how to use technology to record and how to submit to Insight Timer. Upon entering this class, I was a person interested in learning more about teaching meditation, but not clear about what I wanted to do, if anything, with that knowledge. After taking the class, I am a certified and active Insight Timer meditation guide and have plans to do in person and one on one events as well. It was so exciting when I got to do my discovery call with Eileen because all of a sudden we jumped from the very limited interaction on the Insight Timer app through chat in live meditations or giving comments after meditation to actually talking to her in real life. She very much wants each student to succeed and sees the best in each of us. The wild thing about Eileen is that in addition to her truly unparalleled pureness and soft kindness (and like I said radiating love), she also has this ability to really get things done and also get the students to get things done. I was surprised how early we were recording meditations and learning the technical audio editing. She made it all so easy with her pre-recorded videos that were just a supplement to the actual course made up of rich and engaging live interactions at least once a week. Each module has videos and documents to support learning everything one would need to be a meditation guide. There was history of meditation and trauma sensitivity, and types of meditation and a tremendous opportunity to practice. There could not have been a more well-rounded approach with all the sensitive elements inside each of these modules. You didn’t have to watch those videos, but it helped to watch them and you would be silly not to take advantage of this golden set of materials. We met as a group each week with Eileen doing gentle teaching, but there was interaction throughout those meetings. There was always time for questions and patience with answers. Eileen really shows up in person and not only during the classes, but also in the peer groups leading with a gentle but clear hand. She unswervingly believes in each student. All of us were her favorite student. Eileen really embraced every student and not only built on their strengths, but also, in the gentlest of ways, gave feedback about areas for growth. The peer group sessions, as promised by Eileen, were the heart of the course. We gathered every other week and Eileen challenged us to expand out of our comfort zones within an environment of love and support. Each time we stretched out of our comfort zones, it felt really big although looking back, the first ones were very small and she calibrated up nicely. So in the beginning, we may just lead an opening in front of each other and by the end we were leading full 15 minute plus meditations, and it was striking beyond belief how much each person grew from the beginning to the end of the course. And we’re still just beginning - it will be cool to see how we all grow. One of the things that really drew me to this class in addition to Eileen‘s aura was the detailed technical support - receiving a microphone from Eileen, learning to use the microphone, learning the Audacity app to edit the meditations, learning how to get on insight timer and other platforms, and going live in front of people on zoom as a graduation activity. The group of guest speakers Eileen secured for our learning was fantastic. At first, I was not wanting to have less of Eileen, but we didn’t have less because they just came and joined the second half of our weekly sessions for some of the sessions. They all added tremendous value, and also helped me see other sides of Eileen through what they said and reflected on. The amount of time and love and effort that Eileen puts into this class shows in the best of ways. When I looked at the price, I also looked at what came with the program and when I did estimates for it all: in addition to all of the materials and the library, 3 private sessions with Eileen (!), all the other group meetings she led, the guest speakers, the support before during and after including an outboarding call with Eileen, a private session with the technical person and group sessions with the technical person…. I don’t think there’s anything she didn’t think of. The opening and closing sessions provided such beautiful bookends to the well structured program in the middle.
