As a retired teacher, subbing is the perfect way to enjoy being in a classroom and with the community of educators that I love! But, without the responsibility of lesson plans, conferences and grades. Penmac (Michelle) is extremely great to work with, as I have responsibilities for my aging parents. Things come up and she’s so gracious to understand. Schools appreciate good subs and the additional income comes in handy in our difficult economy.

Substitute Teacher and Paraprofessional, Willard and Ash Grove Schools
I can honestly say that working as a substitute through Penmac is the perfect job for me! After retiring from education, I realized that I missed the classroom. By working as a substitute, I can choose when I want to work, what type of classroom I want to be in, and which district(s) I want to work in. I get to know the staff and students in the schools I frequent, and build lasting relationships. All of the joys of teaching, without the added meetings and paperwork 😊 If you've ever wondered if you should try subbing, I highly recommend that you give it a go.

After 35 years as a MS/HS Band Director in Ohio, I moved to SWMO to consolidate family. No one down here wanted a 56 year old band director soooo….since 2009, I have been subbing…..as many assignments as I could. 6 years in Springfield, 5 years in Seymour & now 4 years in Marshfield…GREAT JOB FOR A 72 YEAR OLD! Penmac lists jobs, makes any schedule changes if necessary & is available to discuss issues that may arise during your employment…MuchThanx to Penmac.

Substitute Teacher, Willard Schools
My husband & I both sub for the Willard School District at the high school. Our experience with Penmac has been wonderful. Michelle Bougher is our go to person. She is the best in what she does for Penmac. Always attentive in replying if we have a question or need to make a change. Overall, they're very professional offering help, training sessions, etc... I would recommend Penmac services to anyone that is looking for a temporary, full time, or part time job. As well, as contracting out their services for a school district. I have been subbing in the Willard School District since 2003, long before Penmac contracted out to the district. I started subbing in the Willard Elementary Schools, Intermediate, Middle Schools. Subbing for teachers & secretaries. I also, worked as a fulltime secretary in one of the elementary schools. That is when my husband, Craig decided to start subbing. I think that was in 2011. He started with elementary but decided he was a better fit for high school. After I left the position of secretary, I decided to go back into full time subbing at the high school where I have been now for the past 13 years along with Craig. The subbing schedule & flexibility has best fit our overall schedules. We both own & operate businesses. Craig is a realtor for Keller-Williams & I own a screenprinting, embroidery, promotional productions company, which I have owned for 20 years. We are somewhat partial to the Willard School District. Living in Willard for 35 years, both our children were born & raised in Willard. Attending elementary (Willard Central), Intermediate North, Middle School & High School where they graduated in 2010 & 2013. Both were active in several activities, choir, fast forward & sports. We as well, were active parents in all with me starting in elementary. I was involved in PTO & President throughout their elementary years & it continued within each school as the years passed. Willard Activities Booster Club, Concessions, Project Grad, etc... We were very supportive Willard Schools & our kids. Throughout those years we've met wonderful people, staff & families whom several are still good friends today. I guess you might say we've become "old timer" subs. Ha Ha. We've seen a lot of changes throughout time. Several of our good friends are now retired teachers & principals. We're meeting new teachers & administration, hoping they will have the same confidence in us as the past staff as for years. The school contracting out to Penmac has been the best decision when implementing a new subbing process. It has made subbing 100% better all the way around for everyone. Thank you, Penmac for all you do to make sure Willard subbing is the best.

Substitute Teacher, Clever School District
I have been a substitute teacher through Penmac for the Clever School District for 7 years. Penmac has been a convenient easy way to access available positions and dates for substitute needs. The Clever Schools have been great and very supportive. Teachers and paras have always provided detailed, easy to follow plans for their classes. The administration and teachers have been very helpful. The students are courteous and respectful. Penmac has definitely created a supportive substitute program and offers valuable training on a regular basis.

Penmac has made the transition from full time teaching to substitute teaching very easy. The staff is always very helpful and it's so nice having the flexibility to choose the days I work. I would strongly recommend this organization to earn extra income. Also working with the kids is always fun.

Penmac does an excellent job of providing substitute job openings throughout the week at all levels of education. One of the best features of substituting is the option to work or not depending upon your schedule. Administrators are very appreciative of substitutes who fill a big need. Another feature of substituting is that it requires no preparation beforehand. For me, my retirement goes better if I sub two days a week. It gets me out of the house but also makes staying home more pleasant when I'm not working.

Substitute Teacher and Paraprofessional, Camdenton Schools
Penmac is AWESOME! They are available in a heartbeat, flexible and supportive. Coordination with the school (from my view) is seamless. Though I'm a retired certified MS & HS teacher I work primarily in a PK-2 school. The staff there is upbeat and so gracious; its a great atmosphere and it shows in the kids who often run up and share a smile and/or hug. I only wish I could remember ALL their names!

Substitute Teacher and Paraprofessional, West Plains Schools
I am currently connected and employed by Penmac Education Staffing as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional in West Plains, MO. Penmac Education Staffing has helped me by keeping me exposed and integrated in education and school districts. It has kept me balanced and focused while I search for a teaching position in my certification fields. It's been a God-send because I was laid off from teaching positions due to funding and financial cutbacks. I have time to think, search, and select the right position at this point. I would tell them that Penmac is very friendly, supportive, and reliable. It will work with you and be flexible with your needs and situation.

Substitute Teaching with Penmac has been a wonderful experience with lots of support from Penmac Education Staffing. After almost three full time years, I am still trying to figure out who is learning more... the students or me. The schedule and flexibility are a unique experience.

Travel Teacher Assistant, Head Start, Springfield
I choose Penmac because I was between jobs after getting hurt at my previous place of employment. The staff were very supportive and helped me get all the paperwork filled out and I was able to start right away. I was able to work when I was able and not be tied down to a full time schedule. I was able to use the training and experience I was given by Penmac to help me land a full time position teaching at the school I’m currently working at. If you’re looking for something rewarding and need a more flexible schedule then I would highly recommend Penmac to lift you up and help get you back on track.

Working with Penmac Education Staffing was an ideal experience for me. My expectations were exceeded with their streamlined process and professionalism. I had previous experience in high school working with them on summer employment, so when I wanted to pursue a job as a substitute teacher later in my career, I had confidence working with them. They offered interviews and trainings on site, and were always helpful with paperwork questions. I would highly recommend any Penmac department for employment opportunities.

I have been a substitute teacher for Penmac for eight years. I enjoy subbing. It is so much fun to work with kids and teachers. I have made many friends with the teachers through the years. I enjoy seeing how the kids grow each year and how much progress they make. The kids are a joy to work with and I would encourage anyone who is interested in subbing to contact Penmac.

Penmac has been so nice to work with! I have had to cancel at the last minute and the Penmac staff were there to help me. I was very appreciative. Subbing has been a positive experience for me because I really enjoy the diversity in the high schools I sub in. The student interaction has been so nice, as well as the other teachers to help me out.

Building Substitute, Republic Schools
I work as a building sub at a local elementary school. Mr. Overstreet has visited with me and observed me working in several classrooms at several different schools, and he always takes the time to ask me how I’m doing, if there’s anything I need, and thanks me for my service to our local education system.

Hello, I’ve been with Penmac probably six years substituting at various schools. I finally narrowed it down to only one which is my favorite at 80 years old. It is so rewarding to walk through the campus and have so many students, teachers and administrators call out to me by name. It is my happy place.

I love teaching, and I knew that when I retired I would continue as a substitute. I loved interacting with the students. One year I was working at a yard sale and a young man said "Hi, Mrs. Strouss!" He turned to his mother and told her that I was the best substitute ever. What made him think so? I pulled him and several other students up to my table and helped them with their math.
