I want to give the strongest possible endorsement for Andrew’s course. The workshop sessions were some of the most fun I've had in years -- not an exaggeration. Andrew has taught me to begin to think in terms of ontologies. This changes the way I consume information. Even when reading a book or listening to podcasts I am starting to think in terms of claims, evidence, factors, dynamics, etc. The course gives me a framework to deepen my understanding of any complex domain of knowledge or expertise, such as politics, software engineering, and strategies in games. The course content is an absolute gold mine. In addition to the 4 2-hour workshops, office hours, and a 1:1 intro chat, Andrew provides about 9 lectures and 11 Tana demos. I'm still only about halfway through this content and treasuring every moment of it. I've particularly enjoyed connecting with Ken and others in the course slack community. During our last workshop, we each chose a domain of interest and built a visualization of an ontology for it. It was remarkable to see how quickly Andrew was able to apply his expertise and ontology structure even to domains he knew nothing about. I can't say exactly how yet, but I know this course will be life changing for me. If you are considering taking the course, please sign up, or feel free to reach out to me for more info.

10 out of 10 for Andrew Altshuler and his Tana Advanced Knowledge Management course. Packed with both practical and conceptual information, all of it highly useful and applicable, plus fun hands-on workshops to practice using the tools, plus valuable support from Andrew in implementing our own projects. It completely altered the way I think about, organize, and use knowledge, in the broadest sense of the word. I also learned a ton about how to put Tana to use effectively. I redesigned my PKM to be much more functional—not based on a predesigned template but rather on what I learned and designed around my needs. Andrew would be my first go-to for any advisory or consulting work, and I highly recommend keeping an eye out for this or any other course of his in the future. Big thanks!

I just wanted to take a moment to express how much I’ve appreciated being a part of this course. When I was initially searching for tutorials and information about Tana, I came across your articles on Collider. They were fascinating, and I really admired your problem-solving approach. I was thrilled when I found out about your course, but since I don’t have a background in computer science and had only limited experience with Tana, I hesitated to sign up, worried it might be over my head. To my surprise, though, your lectures and course material were designed to be incredibly accessible, even for someone just starting to grasp the basics. Even more impressive was your passion for the subject and the friendly, welcoming environment you created for learning and exploration. It’s rare to find an expert who’s not only passionate about their craft but also eager to share their hard-earned knowledge so generously. Thank you for your humility and generosity. I recently came across a quote by William Butler Yeats: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Your course truly embodies this idea. Not only did it help me better understand Tana and use it more effectively, but it also introduced me to new, inspiring ideas and possibilities. I’ll definitely keep exploring the materials and resources you shared in the weeks ahead. This course has far exceeded my expectations, and I’ve gotten so much value from it. Thanks again!

Andrew has a knack for bridging the gap between how knowledge is stored in our brains and how to process it with tools, especially using Tana. I am particularly impressed by his curriculum's unique format: a combination of mini-TED-like general lectures on how information and the brain interact, followed by technical demos of how to use note-taking apps to transform information into wisdom, plus weekly group workshops. It's well balanced between philosophical concepts and practicality. I enjoyed every bit of it.

The course was really special for me. The learning of first principles gives you a strong foundation on the important concepts and Andrew´s deep knowledge provides a lot of input on different domains related to Tana such as computer science, cognitive science and complexity. The focus on building your own ontology is amazing because one has the perfect starting ground to develop an own knowledge ontology, which is super useful and also fun. Andrew´s feedback was amazing, so this course is really a personalized experience with a great mentor and role model in Tana. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for advanced content.

That was special. Andrew is so knowledgeable and patient, and his curriculum is full of great content. I learned a lot about PKM systems and knowledge in general. Hands down one of the best course in the PKM space and especially in the TANA sphere.

The AKS Course offers more than just learning about Tana. It's about implementing workflows and frameworks that allow you to run any project or research and discover those "aha" moments almost effortlessly. Having Andrew's knowledge and support throughout the course is a privilege that is unmatched by almost all the online courses I've taken. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Andrew lectures are unique. The content is perfect.

Testimonial for the Advanced Knowledge Systems in Tana, by Andrew Altschuler. I am thrilled to share my experience with the AKS cohort! Being part of this group has been nothing short of transformative. From the very first session, I felt a sense of belonging and support that encouraged me to push my boundaries and explore new ideas. The diversity of backgrounds and perspectives enriched every discussion, making learning not just informative, but also deeply engaging. Each member brought unique insights, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation. The facilitator, Andrew, was exceptional, guiding us with expertise and enthusiasm, ensuring that everyone felt heard and valued. The lecture, about “sense making”, has been an eye-opener. Some impressions of the work of Andrew can be found and in: https://www.collider.space/new/ Overall, this cohort has equipped me with invaluable skills, boosted my confidence, and ignited a passion for continuous learning. I would say that the key parts of the cohort are applicable for any of the applications working with object orientated information streams! I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone looking to grow personally and professionally. Thank you to everyone involved for making this journey so memorable!

Being one of the nicest person I've ever met, Andrew expands your horizon with the way he present knowledge to you. History, for instance, cannot be any more informative for a nerd note-taker. His broad view nicely converges to a main takeaway which will transform your understanding not only in note-taking domain but also thinking in general.

Andrew's course was a transformative experience in learning to navigate complex information. HIs innovative approach pushed me out of my comfort zone, helping me to break free from the mental constraints I had unknowingly imposed on myself. I now view errors as essential stepping stones in the learning process and take an experimental approach in work, like being a scientist of my own life. I've learned to appreciate the non-linear nature of learning and this flexibility has greatly increased my joy while learning data science and continuing to learn new skills amidst multiple responsibilities. I look forward to continuing to apply the insights and strategies I've learned to more self-directed learning and projects.

Knowledge Systems in Tana was a great course, over and beyond what was expected. It is advertised as a four-week course with weekly meetings, but we had 7 sessions in total. Besides the four lectures, Andrew included a 1 to 1 introductory session, an introductory class for the cohort and a review session to answer any questions still open. He regularly posted study videos and presentations as well as recordings of the classes, so you could always go back to clear any doubts. Knowledge Systems in Tana was much more than just a “Tana class” or a “how to do it” course. It was an interesting dive into knowledge systems in general, into methods, ideas and new ways of thinking that have really helped me think about “knowledge systems” and “information” in general, in a new and more intuitive way. The class also presented a great deal of information about AI, both conceptually and about how to use it with Tana or directly via ChatGPT. Andrew has a brilliant mind and can present examples on the fly that adapt to what the participants are doing. The course has helped me better organize my Tana system for work and to extend the areas I include in my Tana workspace. I highly recommend this course and look forward for his next class.
