I am very excited to give Howard my highest possible recommendation for his excellent tutoring. Howard is an outstanding tutor for real analysis, both intellectually and emotionally. His creative approach to illustrating complex math concepts through diagrams/GIFs made the course engaging and enjoyable—I had never seen anything like this before. His diagrams and examples were particularly helpful in deepening my understanding, and thanks to him, I am no longer afraid of real analysis. As a statistician, this course not only strengthened my grasp of real analysis but also opened new doors for understanding stats concepts. Beyond his exceptional tutoring, Howard is also a fantastic researcher, and I greatly benefited from his insights during our sessions. He generously shared his knowledge, offering from both the details of technical skills and the big-picture that helped me approach research in new ways. I highly recommend Howard to anyone looking for a tutor who not only explains the material clearly but also makes learning an enjoyable and enriching experience.

Howard is an excellent TA and is not only an expert in the course material, but is able to clearly and effectively answer any and all questions students have for him. This is something that I have found that many math department TAs lack, the ability to translate their knowledge into helpful discussion sections. Additionally Howard took the time to provide typed and excellently formatted notes, following along with his sections. Pleasure to have him has my TA.

I was struggling as a sophomore in real analysis, and was worried I had gotten in over my head. Howard's help transformed my experience with analysis. With his help, I became much more confident in my proof writing, and Howard's diagrams helped me begin to appreciate analysis rather than viewing the subject as a mixed bag of theorems. I consistently received helpful feedback in every office hour I went to, and his teaching style was the perfect amount of help, while allowing me to try problems on my own. I highly recommend Howard as a tutor to anyone looking to strengthen their mathematical ability.

Great teacher, very encouraging

A very encouraging tutor who walks you along your thought process in a way that encourages you to understand the material

Knowledgable and Thorough Tutor

Howard helped me with Advanced Linear Algebra and Real Analysis this quarter. If you're taking a proof based class like those ones, he's your guy! He can type stuff up really quick on LaTex which is nice when you need to see a problem fully fleshed out. He's good at giving you the bigger picture and grouping problems so you can start to memorize the common structure of the proofs you see in class. If he can tutor classes as complex as the ones I had to do this quarter, I'm sure he'd be great at any subject! I'd encourage everyone to give him a shot. His rate is also much more affordable than many of the others on this platform.

Heaton was a fantastic TA. He really helped me understand what was going on in the class. I would not be doing as well as I am if I did not have him as a TA!

The most humble, well rounded, and knowledgeable TA I have had at UCLA. He will make an amazing professor, because he is passionate about teaching, understands student concerns, and inspires you to see beyond the classroom. He is amazing.

Howard was probably one of the best TAs I've had. Good handwriting, explains proofs thoroughly, and posts notes online. THANK YOU!!

Though a strict grader, I would say the TA answered all questions accurately and (most importantly) in a way that was easy to understand. I definitely would recommend him to any student in any math class.

I have had TA Howard for multiple quarters, and he is always so knowledgeable, regardless of which course it is. For 131B in particular, it is generalized, and abstract, however Howard was able to give us examples pertaining to the Reals, which makes it a bit easier to understand. Quarters after quarters, Howard still keeps his positive attitudes, and straight-to-the-point, forward personality, which I really appreciate. He also speaks clearly, and posts online notes, which really clarified the materials.

Howard is a wonderful TA. He paces the sections so well that we always get to go over all the key problems. In discussions, he is very receptive to questions and provides clarifications before we scratch our heads in confusion. He addresses common mistakes made in the previous homework assignment so that we won't fall into the "traps" again when we encounter similar problems. I have never had a TA who uploads excellent notes after sections. I cannot say how much they have helped me in mastering the material. Overall I was so glad Howard was my TA for 131A!

Howard is a hero. I hope he can be my TA again in the future. I've been to most his office hours for extra help, and often we end up chatting about other things as well. He is a super friendly guy that is patient and encouraging. If I struggle to understand something he is able to approach the subject from another angle to make it more clear. Also, it is nice to have a TA who cares enough to learn the names of the students.
