I was having chronic pain in my left shoulder for almost two years. Prior to this, I was weightlifting and exercising and not afraid to try new things. And even though the injury that led to my chronic pain was not actually from weight training, I became really afraid and nervous to lift weights or to try new activities in my daily life. I became really inactive, stopped lifting weights, and it was really affecting my mental health overall. I wasn't myself. I saw multiple physiotherapists, and would do their exercises continuously, but I was not getting better, at all. In fact, I was feeling worse, and more deconditioned.
I found WaughFit on Instagram, saw that Kyle was offering a free online consultation, and thought I had nothing to lose, since I was already spending so much time, energy, and money into getting out of pain through many other means.
Kyle was really kind and down to earth right off the bat, and provided a lot of insight and value in that first appointment where he did some assessments and talked to me about what he was noticing, that it was really no question to keep working with him.
I have been working with Kyle for around 4 months now. My shoulder pain is basically gone, and I am lifting more weight now at this point than years ago prior to being in chronic pain. He is very structured with his programming and assessments, and I feel like I am able to have really well rounded training, whereas when I would do my own thing it was not nearly as effective. Right now we are working more on building muscle and full on training, whereas at the start my program was more about rehab and getting me back into lifting weights. Unlike with any physiotherapist or practitioner I have seen, my program with Kyle had me lifting weights from the very beginning. At first I was very nervous and hesitant, but Kyle's approach to training also involved not letting me believe that I was broken. It involved me changing my mindset of needing to be completely pain free to workout. Of course, I was still having my chronic pain when we started, but he was able to create a program that suited my needs at the time, and if any exercise didn’t feel very good, he would change things around as I needed. I really appreciate how I can send him a quick message with any questions or concerns, or a video to check my form, and he gets back to me.
In my daily life, I'm in less pain and not feeling as limited to doing different activities. When I do my workouts, I'm in no pain. My mental health has also improved because of being able to workout again and feel good doing so.
I’d recommended Kyle to basically everyone! Whether you're in pain, or simply just want to get really strong, i don't think anyone would regret working with Kyle!
