Biomimicry enables innovators to look at nature for solutions, which has survived, thrived and continued through 3.8 million years of change. The 3 courses give a great foundation to biomimicry and I have likely started a lifelong journey to learn more, as nature has already solved many of the problems we face in the future.

This Practitioner’s program has the depth of a PhD, the dynamism of a MOOC, and the interactions of a closed circle webinar – all in one within 6 months. I particularly love how the faculty is patient with learners through the program, and are always on hand to answer questions or share useful resources. I totally recommend this program for anyone who wishes to do any good work in this world using an age-long methodology that has been tried and tested by some of the oldest civilizations and inventors. As Leonardo Da Vinci says, “Those who are inspired by a model other than Nature, labour in vain.”

Being in this Biomimicry Practitioners Programme has been a very inspiring and enriching journey! Fascinating to see how looking from the perspective of functions opens new doors to look in a different, out-of-the-box way to your challenge.

The Biomimicry Framework is such a rich methodology to find mechanisms and design principles in nature that could - in my case often metaphorically - be translated into success principles for innovation in (collaboration in) a circular biobased economy.

It gave me new insights that I can and will apply in my work, further exploring this with production chain partners to establish a successful coalition in moving from environmentally damaging construction towards sustainable circular biobased construction. And I am sure I can, and will, be using it for other challenges in my work as well!

It was very nice and helpful to be able to have in-between-meetings with Melissa, Yuma and Jess to steer me in the right direction. Thank you so much for your guidance and knowledge!

It must be the greatest job of the world to be in the Learn Biomimicry Team and guide people from around the world to make their work and designs based on the wealth of knowledge and inspiration nature provides us!

This is the best Introduction to Biomimicry course I’ve found online so far. Plus, it explored more great examples of how biomimicry is being applied than I have seen elsewhere. I definitely recommend this course!

I loved the Biomimicry Practitioner Programme and the emphasis on the process of incorporating biomimicry into a design process. We went step by step through the discovery process and were inspired by nature to solve problems that we are having with our clients. It was interesting and what a pleasure to have such a supportive team to guide us through the first biomimicry design process from beginning to end. Cannot wait to dive deeper with clients!

The biomimicry practitioner program was by far the best career and general life decision I have ever made. The program completely challenged the way I had viewed knowledge - not just the world. Often, in career and academia, we are taught to reproduce singular forms of knowledge that are linear in nature - whilst most of the anthropogenic challenges we face in the world are often interdisciplinary and complex. Biomimicry is a perfect response to applying cross-disciplinary and systems thinking to practical challenges that most disciplines cannot solve alone, moving away from linear thinking and into harmony with nature's regenerative cycles.

The program gives you the creative freedom to step out of restrictive thinking and provides a lens which can be applied in virtually every industry and role. My project allowed me to think critically and design a portable, lightweight air pollution filter which could not only capture emissions but use the emissions as feedstocks for resource-intensive industries. It didn't take too long until I decided to expand on my learnings and apply systems thinking and cyclical principles from nature to develop my own start-up which draws its inspiration from industrial ecology - where companies can work in symbiotic relationships to develop more sustainable outcomes in their supply chains. Before long, I was inspired by the way slime mould finds its quickest path to success by stripping away layers of hierarchy and allowing cells to self-organize, and applied this design to a digital platform.

I am forever indebted to the wonderful team at Learn Biomimicry - they provided a space to learn, reflect, create and innovate, these skills will stay with me for the rest of my life. As Jess had wonderfully said in our final presentations, the end was really just the beginning, and this holds very true.

Wow, where to start! Kudos and many thanks to the entire learn biomimicry team. This programme was very well constructed, and well thought out. It reset my understanding of biomimicry and showed me that there is so much more to the word "biomimicry" than is generally understood. I thoroughly enjoyed the Biomimicry Practitioner Programme and it has been a point of inspiration for me to ensure biomimicry is a part of my career and life moving forward.

The six months that I recently spent working on my biomimicry design project, as demonstration of my training as a biomimicry practitioner, was a rare and deeply-valued opportunity. I allowed myself to fully focus on the process, to fully trust my feelings every step of the way. And, in doing so, I repeatedly found an abundance of creative energy and enthusiasm for learning, just when I needed it, to continue the work. Now the project is done, and I have a (very beautiful) certificate to celebrate the milestone and mark the beginning of a new phase in my work - more to follow on the next steps there! Thank you to Learn Biomimicry 🐋 for mentoring me in this step of the learning journey. Thank you to Claire Janisch, my late mentor, with whom I began this journey. You truly created conditions conducive to life, with your life. #biomimicry #regenerativedesign #designengineer

I’m so excited to say that I’m now a qualified Biomimicry Practitioner!😀🎉 Six months ago, I set off into the wilderness determined (rather naively…) to unpick the fascinating puzzle of biodiversity in nature. All with the goal of helping #startups and #SMEs build teams that integrate diversity from the very beginning to create healthy, effective and resilient workplaces. I can’t wait to share the results of my project with you over the next few weeks! 😀🌱 I want to say a big thank you to our mentors at Learn Biomimicry 🐋 Jessica Berliner, Yuma Langenbach and Melissa Sikosana, PhD who were instrumental in guiding us through the biomimicry process and helped me hone my ideas... ...and to Sophie Wisbrun-Overakker and Stefano Semprini my fellow cohort members for supporting me along the way! This course has helped me clarify that #Biomimicry and #BioinspiredBusiness is exactly what I want to be doing. It’s given me the push I needed to start thinking more about sharing my learnings online for others to benefit from too. Over the last couple of years at workWILD_ltd I’ve built a tiny solo business from scratch - running online courses and workshops, speaking at conferences and collaborating with my first consultancy client (Karl Brown at Curv – they’re amazing – check them out! 👍🏻🌍) Talking about and reading about biomimicry is fascinating but I want to see if I can really walk the walk. Does nature truly hold the answers for business success? I think so… Now I need to prove it. Stay tuned for news on my current projects, hopefully some client case studies (cos aren’t we all desperate for some of those??😛) and updates on the daily challenge of bringing biomimicry into the mainstream business world.
