As a Creative Director with many years of experience in brand development for clients, I've tried many workflows and processes to perfect how we take brands from concepts to assets. So, when I saw Baseline, I had to test it out, and I'm glad I did; this tool will be a part of our branding workflow from now on. Full stop. Some of the things that stand out the most and really impressed me about Baseline: COLORS GUIDELINES: Generating color codes (simple hex and accompanying CSS/CSS Variable/Tailwind CSS), shades, and contrast assessments for each color are ridiculously fast and easy. This feature will shave off hours of basic design time. TYPE GUIDELINES: Generating quick typographic guidelines based on specified fonts for headers, subheaders, and body makes generating typographic guidelines not only easy and fast for designers but also makes everything super easy and quick for those applying the guidelines to a website project by giving you complete CSS code options you can copy and paste into your stylesheet. Further, users can choose a ratio preset (like Augmented Fourth) to vary sizes between headers and body type so you can hone in on the proper contrast between your typography sizing. TONE OF VOICE GUIDELINES: This feature really surprised me and is definitely one of those things that are made easier by using Baseline. Up until now, I've created onboarding questionnaires myself that guide our process of establishing a tone of voice and brand persona. It takes a lot of time to establish a process like this and then perfect it; however, the step-by-step process Baseline takes users on is much more streamlined, user-friendly, and in-depth in generating tone of voice guidelines. I also must add that the user interface is also very well thought out, intuitive, and looks great. Additionally, the design template feature seems like a quick way for us to mock up various assets, like cover images for FB and LinkedIn, quickly for various social platforms.
