We started super simple. A shitty google doc that we sent via email to friends to get feedback. eventually we got smart and switched to @beehiiv (lesson: if you're not embarrassed by v1 of your product, you've waited too long to launch)

beehiiv has paid The '92 $71,000 over the last 10 months. (I've only paid them $3k in subscription fees over this same period.) If your ESP isn't actively helping you grow and monetize your newsletter, leave it. I've used 8-10 different ESPs over the last decade. They all have pros and cons. Deliverability varies, but not by much. 👉 If your newsletter sucks, your open rate will suck. (Regardless of your ESP) 👉 If your newsletter is great, your open rate will be great. (Regardless of your ESP) Using boosts and the beehiiv ad network are the ONLY reasons I was able to leave my full-time job to go all-in on The '92. 👉 beehiiv has paid me 22X what I've paid them. ^think about that Their features help small newsletters become big newsletters. My advice: Take a small segment of your list and start on beehiiv's free plan (up to 2,500 subs). Start sending and see what your metrics look like... try boosts, try the ad network. If you run a newsletter and you've never even tried beehiiv, I believe you're actively hurting your chances of success in this space. By the way, beehiiv doesn't give me a dime to say this stuff. PS. Very impressed with beehiiv Adam Lowe and I are experimenting with a true crime newsletter. And beehiv makes the whole thing seamless. From writing , sending, growth and even advertising opportunities. Week 1 done, and we already have an sponsor for our next newsletter, all through the platform. It means as creators we can focus on content, which is great. This sounds like an ad, but it's a genuine review 😅
