At the suggestion of a family member I contacted boost with a query about my exposure to Inheritance Tax in light of the changes to Agricultural Property Relief coming into effect from April 2026. I had very helpful and productive meeting with Josh on Zoom during which he explained my situation clearly and succinctly and I now have a much better understanding to bring to succession planning. Having recently watched the online event 'Celebrating One Year of Employee Ownership', I felt privileged to be a Boosst client. Thank you very much indeed for your generous support of our recent cancer charities fundraiser at Salford Village Hall last month. Your kindness helped us raise a total of £3500 which has been split between MacMillan Cancer Support and Action Against Cancer. The event was well supported by villagers, local businesses and people from further afield who gave up their Friday mornings to join us for breakfast, coffee and all those cakes. We are grateful to all those who came to join us, not least your brilliant volunteers who worked hard all morning to deliver a great experience for everyone. Thanks to you guys for hosting a fantastic and informative workshop. Nicky and I both came away with a headful info. For so long we have been thinking that retirement is all based around finances and it is to a degree but last night we came away thinking 'my god it is so much more'. When my husband, Kevan, was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2024, he used his many years of experience in the Financial Services sector, to entrust Boosst to look after my family's financial future, both in the short and long term. One of the best things in 2024, genuinely, was meeting Boosst at their picturesque and tranquil HQ in Hulcote, Buckinghamshire and engaging their services to plan our exciting financial future. It’s been an amazing journey – and Boosst’s support has gone far beyond any of our initial expectations… We’re in our mid-fifties, our two children are young adults, who have just started their careers. We had two questions for Boosst: firstly, based on our financial position, was it possible for us to stop work in the next twelve months to do things we love: travelling, sailing and enjoying hobbies – whilst helping establish our children’s financial future? And, if so, how “exactly” could we achieve this? Our finances were complex – we had different pension investments: defined salary + defined contribution funds, a substantial single shareholding that needed selling (pre probate) and issues around inheritance tax. I was introduced to Boosst by a friend, I wasn't sure what I was doing or how it worked but I got in contact. I was surprised at how simple, friendly and accessible the whole process was. My hubby Alan and I are very new to Boosst, becoming clients towards the end of 2023. We were wanting to plan our retirement in 2-3 years but were totally clueless about our various pensions and whether we were going to be able to afford to retire and do the things we had planned. We had been successfully building our pensions for many years through two very large financial companies. Looking forward to retirement, we assumed that the transition from building a pension to drawing a pension would be very straightforward. Instead, we experienced intransigent company rules, multiple departments, no single point of contact with authority and no personal financial advice. It became so stressful we decided to abandon the large company approach and look for our own financial advisor. There were plenty to choose from, many appeared to be approaching retirement themselves, many were difficult to contact, and some didn’t even bother to return our calls.
