I aim to fill one of the empty spaces and help others get into the field too. - Just when I’m about to start browsing through YouTube and burning through my data subscription to look for some resources, I come across CyberSHIELD tweet about what I’m looking for, this has happened a couple of times. - As someone who’s just breaking into Cybersecurity, it’s definitely the resources. - CyberSHIELD has helped me and numerous others get clarity on the path to follow and where to focus on in order not to get overwhelmed, the job tips are also appreciated. - Yes, I would recommend CyberSHIELD to anyone, that’s if I haven’t already. What motivated me to pursue a career in cybersecurity was that I just came across a post one day that gave me hope, and it was about the GRC field specifically. I won’t deny that it’s also the financial aspect that motivates me. But to elaborate, what motivated me was a desire for an important change in my life, and to bet on myself, to get to know myself in a way I haven’t experienced myself before: to experience myself through the me that is preparing for and hopefully will have a career in cybersecurity. I experienced a teacher in middle school - she introduced Python to us - whose impact had caused me to doubt myself. I got over that, & I tell myself in moments of doubt over my ability to thrive in this career, that I don’t actually know what I am capable of; I have found so far that I am able to understand the basic material very well, I am studious, & I may continue to find that I am very skilled at something I didn’t think I could be. I am motivated to pursue a career because it is such an important and vast field, it intrigues me as well, I believe it has many significant possibilities, & because I want to surprise myself in the process by seeing myself through a new light. CyberSHIELD has helped me by being one of the many blessings, one of the many resources that I came across. The roadmaps & summaries & posts have been helping me, as well as the knowledge that I have the opportunity to join training sometime that you offer. I haven’t been able to enter into those for financial obstacles currently but I may sometime. The specific aspect that impressed me the most - this may be a corny answer but it is true for me - is how motivating & encouraging your program is. Often when we try to pursue a career, especially a field as daunting as this, we may find it hard to know where to begin and how to plan simple actionable steps, and your tweets/posts/etc make it simple. That’s how CyberSHIELD has supported my journey so far. I would recommend to others looking to enter the industry for this reason as well.

I was unsatisfied as a law student when I started doing research on careers that would suit my needs and personality better. I spent 2023 doing research on cybersecurity and falling in love with the online communities of professionals who are so eager and willing to mentor and guide newbies like me. My biggest hurdle was getting my laptop fixed at first. It took me 8 months to afford to pay for it. While I waited I enrolled in free cybersecurity foundation courses online and did the theory on my phone. Once I got my laptop back I enrolled in more free courses and researched further to find that I want to become an ethical hacker. I am self funded and can not pay my way through university, so I decided to go through certifications to make it to my goal. I came across the CyberSHIELD page and received a free career map upon interaction. This really helped me narrow down my certification goals so I wouldn’t have to spend more money than I needed to reach my goals. The resources have benefited me a lot, so have the Twitter quizzes that are posted on the page as they let me know where I need to put more focus on my journey. At present, finances are holding me back from buying the programs as well as registering for exams. I will not be dismayed though, I see so many opportunities online to receive financial help. With this opportunity, should I get it, I will be able to take my first step into breaking into entry level jobs once I pass the exam. I have already recommended CyberSHIELD to most of the people in my technology network and I will continue to do so based on my experience with their interactions and efficiency.

My brother from the neighborhood started cracking modems, unlocking laptops etal. I became fascinated. The height of it was when quack hackers hijacked my bank account. My money almost went for it. Recently one of my mentors suggested that Cousera has some courses and that I should consider data analysis or Cybersecurity. Researching the scope of Cybersecurity, it became my area of interest, and though the journey has been rough(Networking has been challenging) I am encouraged, knowing who I can end up becoming - a pentester/ red hat hacker. 2.)Cybershield social media outlet on X-Twitter has greatly help smoothen my Cybersecurity journey through constant postings on the road map, images and diagrams with simple analytical explanations to aid my memo memory about strategic terms and areas of Cybersecurity. Cybershield has also become a reminder that I shouldn't give up no matter what. 3.) I would say it's the follow up for each of the students for me. You can just follow some Cybersecurity handles and the next thing is Cybersecurity waiting in your DM, reaching out to support you.
