As a runner, I had no idea how to properly fuel. I was operating on an unintentional philosophy that running 50 miles a week meant I was good to just whatever. Once I started weighing my food and counting macros, I was shocked at how much more protein I needed and how much better I felt to eat the right amount of carbs. This is the cleanest I’ve eaten, ever. No added sugar, nothing fried, no nibbles of cake, nothing. And honestly, it felt great. I tried for years to do it alone and would always fall off, I needed accountability. Shawn is the perfect person to have on your side. He knows his stuff, he’s funny and charming and encouraging without ever making you feel bad for when you mess up and eat wings, pizza and candy for dinner haha. (Had to have a few here and there hehe) Getting into shape can be very difficult and takes time, but having the camaraderie of the dad unit with the many other dads and men who are all striving to better themselves, makes the process so much more fun. Everyone’s encouraging and supportive and it truly is a great community. Shawn is former Special Forces and I have no military experience, but appreciated the militaristic approach behind the DU. I’ve been exercising almost daily for the last five years. Been trying to lose weight but the scale just consistently went up and up. When I found the DU I set a goal to lose 30lbs, which was my pre-COVID weight. It was a joke. If I couldn’t lose even 10lbs in the last 5 years how the hell could I lose 30 in 90 days? But Shawn and the guys in my group helped me be consistent everyday. I lost 40lbs!! It literally was not possible without the Dad Unit. Thank you!!
