I go to the Academy for the unusual and deep ideas that are the ethos of this delightful and whimsical campus.
Portals was, by far, the most mysterious and creative class I've had at the Wizard Academy. "What? More magical than MAGICAL WORLDS, the flagship course of the Academy?"
Yes. I would say even more magical than MAGICAL WORLDS. And that's because of the teaching style of Dave Young, the Vice Chancellor and instructor for this course. Dave's style is a little more relaxed than some of the other instructors. He's chill; that's what I'm saying. In this course he uses photography as an illustration of how Portals transform our experience of life.
It's a nice change to use a visual medium instead of the traditional writing exercises we have in most of the Wizard courses. It's an artsy class with cool people and a professor who makes you laugh while teaching you the creative philosophy of PORTALS. Don't miss this one, Wizards!

At Wizard Academy, I learned that I am not primarily right-brained, as I had believed. In fact, I learned just how balanced between left and right brained I really am, and that knowledge has made all the difference since.

I’m Len Clark, part journalist, part storyteller, part leadership archaeologist, digging up timeless truths from the halls of Notre Dame and polishing them for today’s leaders. My latest treasure is Vision, Values, and Victories: Notre Dame-Style Leadership, a book that blends history, heart, and a dash of Irish grit to inspire those who lead and those who aspire.
The Wizard Academy didn’t just hand me a new set of tools, it rearranged the furniture in my brain. Suddenly, ideas I’d kept in separate rooms were hosting dinner parties together. The class cracked open new ways to frame stories, to merge tradition with tech, and to invite readers into the kind of leadership journey that sticks with them long after the last page.
The air is different here. You breathe it in and suddenly the rules you thought were carved in stone turn into chalk and ready to be redrawn. You’re surrounded by curious minds, fearless dreamers, and people who don’t just think outside the box… they repurpose the box into a racecar. It’s not a class. It’s a catalyst. And the sparks it throws are already lighting up my work. Not to mention the wine.
