Just a shout-out to the Internal Audit Collective as I have, once again, recently experienced the collaborative nature of its members. I find it very easy and useful to tap into the combined experiences and skills of the IA Collective. It is great to be part of a group of audit professionals that genuinely care about advancing and improving our profession by sharing information with their peers. While I still make good use of resources from the IIA and other CAE networking opportunities, the Internal Audit Collective has quickly risen to the top of my networking resource list since its inception early this year. I would highly recommend the IA Collective to both CAEs and internal auditors at any level.

The SOX Accelerator was an extremely beneficial program for me as a SOX professional, but also as a networking avenue, best practices platform, and leadership development exercise. The members of the collective were open, honest, and generous with ideas, recommendations, and feedback on how their departments are organized and what processes and activities they've implemented worked or did not work. I am very appreciative of Tom and team for including myself and McDermott as part of the Internal Audit Collective, and will be implementing what I've learned in the SOX Accelerator consistently going forward.

This is Rob Allen, Director of Internal Audit at Steel Dynamics. Our department's primary focus is SOX controls testing and our department recently completed the SOX Base Camp Program. Given the current pipeline of talent entering the internal audit field, we are hiring more and more auditors out of college or with limited public accounting experience. Many of our new hires have limited experience with SOX, COSO and internal controls in general. These are concepts with terminology that may be second nature to experienced auditors and it's easy to forget that it's new for some staff members. The course did a nice job of providing an overview of COSO principles and how they form the backdrop for the internal controls we test. From there we looked at the elements of internal controls, how they are designed, and what makes a good control, as well as questions we as auditors should ask when testing. The breakout activities worked well to apply the material and provide opportunities for all to participate. My staff members in attendance ranged from one year out of college to seasoned veterans and there were takeaways for all. Whether you are early in your career and looking to learn or someone needing a refresher, this course is a good investment. 

As a SOX Compliance Program leader, completing the #soxacceleratorprogram was an incredibly valuable experience. I recently joined the Internal Audit Collective led by Tom O'Reilly, and it has been one of the best investments of my time this year. After transitioning from EY to an Internal Audit role in industry a little over a year ago, I needed to expand my network of like-minded professionals facing similar challenges to drive change in their SOX programs. The first cohort of the SOX Accelerator Program provided me with this opportunity to join a network of high-quality Internal Audit professionals across various industries. Each training class and interactive cohort session offered us the chance to openly discuss our questions, challenges, and share best practices, all in a safe environment. I have truly enjoyed participating in the Internal Audit collective! I initially joined the Collective as a founding member because I wanted to connect with other leaders in the SaaS technology space. I am pleased to say I got what I was looking for and so much more! It's the practical guidance and networking community we've been missing in this profession!! It not only covers Internal Audit, but SOX, Risk Management and other aspects of our roles that you don't often find in one common community. I completed the SOX Accelerator program and appreciated the real life examples and opportunity to share and hear how others are managing their programs. I found it so valuable, that I immediately shared it with my team and enrolled our SOX lead in the next program session. I plan on having my full team participate. One aspect of the program I enjoyed the most is the Internal Audit Collective portal. It's outstanding!! Everything is centralized in one place, it's easy to find upcoming sessions, review past sessions, ask questions and connect with other leaders. We all experience those days in audit when you just need to run something by someone or quickly find an insightful resource and this is it!! The internal audit collective has been an invaluable resource. The IAC offers real-time networking opportunities so you can discuss hot topics, concerns or just bounce ideas off of several internal audit and SOX professionals. The roundtables are engaging, open and incredibly valuable. I highly recommend the collective as I have gained more value and insight with my 4–5-month membership than any other previous membership dues combined.

As a company transitioning to a SOX world the Internal Audit Collective has been invaluable in providing me access to so many professionals who can advise and give their own experiences to help me learn best practices and share what worked and what didn’t work. The community it provides is the key to its success. I have attended many of the courses and found them all to be informative and the open discussion a safe space to ask questions and share my own experiences.
