Happy Friday! It was my first coaching session yesterday. Learned a lot from Emma and my peers, and appreciated Emma's feedback. Now I have a clear direction on how I should improve my skills. Additionally, I did an informational interview with an industry professional today, and learned some insights from a HM's perspective.

I want to share some good news with you. I have received three data science internship offers for the upcoming summer. They are Affirm, CVS Health, and Ebay. I need to make my decision by next Thursday so I wonder if you were me what kinds of factors you would consider for each of those opportunity, especially for data science role?

And I want to thank you again for all the amazing resources (Youtube series, data interview pro, mock interview) you have provided. Honestly I don’t think I can get any of those offers without your resources.

Back in late 2020-early 2021, I decided to look for a career change, I have been a traditional trading risk quant for about 10 years and wanted to break into Data Science space as a senior scientist or a manager. As a part of my preparation process I started out with brushing up my core skill set through leetcode and also subscribed to a service called Interview Query.

But then I discovered Data Interview Pro (Emma’s) videos on YouTube and they were very practical and following the recommendations helped me through the interview process and preparation better than the other services I was using. I also got in touch with her over LinkedIn and she was gracious enough to personally do a mock interview with me. She is one of the nicest instructors and most humble persons I have come across, who is genuinely interested in your career growth.

Eventually I ended up interviewing for Facebook, Amazon, Blackrock data science manager and Robinhood, other than facebook (which was my very first real interview experience after a gap of 6yrs) I managed to clear all and finally accepted position with Robinhood.

I thank Emma and her guidance for helping me through the interviewing process and recommend her coaching to anyone who is serious about a career in DS.
