We run 3 different businesses with the same staff so taking the time to think and put down on paper what we do, why we do it, and what we do both right and wrong, was extremely helpful for us. For my own role in Operations, the Meeting Rhythm Planner was very helpful because it eliminated a ton of last minute meetings. Before partnering with Scalable, we were running into several roadblocks with our initial implementation of EOS. On paper, we had done everything “right”—we had checked all the boxes—but we still weren’t gaining real traction. Our scorecard was solid and our KPIs were clearly defined, yet we struggled to identify the underlying issues driving those numbers. My husband Kris and I read E-Myth a few years ago and were already very aware that we had become the bottleneck in our business because we didn't have systems in place and always had to be available to manage everyone and everything (leading to no real growth, progress or the ability to take vacations!). We'd made some attempts to implement systems, some successful and some not, but once we started watching Ryan's videos it really "clicked" with us. Eventually, we decided to reach out to the Scalable team and then made the leap to join the program. We're so glad we did!! We're only a few months in but already we've put together most of our OS and have employees taking ownership of their critical accountability bullets and playbooks, real metrics to look at, clarity for where we want to go and how we want to get there, and honestly, HOPE for the first time in several years that we really can scale and we're not stuck at this point forever. We still have a ton of learning and work cut out for us, but now we feel excited to do it whereas before we just felt overwhelmed and even resentful towards our business. Doing the regular calls with Belinda, our advisor, has helped us stay on track and understand the process as we go through it. The way the program is broken down walks you clearly through each part of setting up your OS and makes sure you understand what you're doing and why. It's not just a fancy proprietary system that you "implement" and then never actually use on a day-to-day basis, but more of a real tool (or library of tools!) that you tailor to your individual business and truly continue to run everything with. We're actually simultaneously setting up the same OS for our investment properties business and even our daughter has learned to use value engines and playbooks for the small retail business she works at. What's really great is seeing employees get excited and start bringing ideas to the table. Our experience with the Scaelable OS has been a very positive one. From the start it has been friendly and well organised. The regular meetings with your advisor keep you accountable and on track. It is so easy to be distracted by day to pressing business issues that would derail your progress without a structured system in place to help. Mapping your growth engines seems so basic but it helps you stand back and take a much more global overview of what you do. It also cuts through the noise to show you what aspects of your business are critical to have good playbooks in place. The scorecard was the single biggest thing to get in place. We are still refining it but it has given us a much-needed real time dashboard of how we are doing and where we need to focus. Our staff have taken to this really well and it has enhanced the general feeling of “team”. There is an element of patience required because you are putting something in place for the longer term. It requires your commitment but you will have plenty of support from your advisor, the recorded sprints and from the regular online momentum calls. I’d advise people to get on these right from the start even if you feel like the new kid at school – they are always interesting and help and advice is freely given. It’s also encouraging to meet with other people like you and share challenges and wins.

The tools that had the most immediate impact were the Value Engines and the Scorecard. Even though we’re still refining our Scorecard, in just a couple of months we’ve already been able to spot problem months early and take proactive action instead of reacting after the fact. I’ve also seen positive changes in our team. There’s more buy-in and forward thinking. They’re not just focused on day-to-day work anymore, but also on what needs to be done to achieve our bigger goals. This program is absolutely worth it. The Operating System is functional. That may sound odd, but it's true. From the first instructional video, you can see the vision and understand it's function in the business. It is easy to use, easy to oversee and revise as needed. I imagined, because it isn't an automated system, that it would end up falling to the wayside due to lack of time to update it or simply difficulty of use, but it is extremely user friendly and it's value outweighs the time it takes to update it. I imagined, because it isn't an automated system, that it would end up falling to the wayside due to lack of time to update it or simply difficulty of use, but it is extremely user friendly and it's value outweighs the time it takes to update it. The way it can be used for everyday questions and answers with things like the Clarity Compass or future planning with the 12 quarter planner, all around makes it a stunning display of an operating system that will be useful for years to come.

I was feeling that our team was increasingly successful AND really stuck at the same time. Everything felt harder than it needed to be. In a Scalable inquiry call, I realized that I needed to do whatever it takes to make my business better and as a result, my life would be better. I was told, "It's hard to read the label from inside the jar" and that really resonated with me...I don't know how many times I've shared that bit of wisdom since! I was very pleasantly surprised by the kindness, encouragement and understanding I received from by marvelous and insightful mentor, Belinda. I was worried that our meetings would be rigid and cookie cutter to get through the program and they were exactly the opposite. I felt empowered after every meeting! Building out the value engines had the most immediate impact on the business because it really got our team thinking about the flow of things. The visual of mapping these processes got us on the same page and was really eye opening. While we are still in the VERY beginning stages of version 1.0 of our new OS, the CABs and the playbooks have provided clarity and comfort to the team. I was initially feeling over my head with the sprint canvas because I hade little knowledge of Google sheets/Excel. I was worried that I was going to need to learn the in's and out's of it, but I was reassured that going backwards to learn that was not a good use of my time and the important thing wasn't navigating the spreadsheets, rather understanding the material and getting the work done in any capacity. If I could do it, you can too. If you have the slightest bit of interest, jump in with both feet...it is totally worth it!
