My name is Gretchen Waterman. I want to live in a country where all people are treated with respect and dignity. What is happening today is not right. I know there are more people who believe everyone needs a place to live, food to eat, medical care, education, and a safe community in which to live. Everyone can help us achieve these goals. We just need to band together and fight for what is right! I am ready to roll up my sleeves and work hard to help make positive changes in our country.

I never expected to become politically active, but I can’t stay on the sidelines while the current administration undermines the rule of law, uses government power to pursue personal grievances, and enacts policies marked by cruelty rather than justice. I believe democracy depends on citizens showing up—and it’s time for me to show up.

My name is Megan. I work in marketing and live in the West Loop. I was politically active in college, but hadn’t been involved in a long time—until the 2024 election changed everything. I first spoke up when NIH funding came under threat—something that directly impacts my life. But I’ve kept showing up because the administration’s attacks on vulnerable communities affect all of us.
