I am a patient with multiple rare and chronic conditions. I am highly susceptible to complications when it comes to foodbourne illnesses. Using the FDAs med watch system is far too complex for quick reporting and the ability to easily check surrounding restaurants and stores. Using this service has saved me from getting sick so many times and when I've reported things when I did get sick, my local health department reached out to me too!! It's been an amazing service and helps people like me avoid things that could cause some serious health complications for us. I'm really happy with this service. I found iwaspoisoned.com after tasting a carefully cooked Butterball Turkey breast which tasted off. My husband served me my Thanksgiving meal right away as he put his together. I told him "something is wrong with this turkey, and it's NOT your cooking (we ALWAYS use a meat thermometer). I think I just Googled "I got food poisoning from a Butterball Turkey breast" & many links popped up including yours. I signed up right away -- there were already reports of people getting sick from Butterball! Further research on the company sealed the deal. And they don't care, they are a cruel company, the turkeys are raised under unsanitary conditions & former staff spoke of how cruel some of the workers there are to the poor birds. I’m a middle-aged man that woke up with intense symptoms typical of food poisoning and my single change in nutrition occurred last night when I ate French fries with ketchup. Both items had not been opened for use before then. I at much of both and then slept. This morning I awoke to intense abdominal bloating, pain, and burping. Heartburn hit later as I tried to work. By noon I only wanted to take some over-the -counter meds and lie down with my head at an angle. I went online to search for what my symptoms indicated and came across iwaspoisoned.com. I am a senior citizen who doesn’t always watch TV or have communication with many people because I live in a rural area. . I found your website a few years ago after I was the victim of food poisoning and looking for a possible source. I reported on your site, my experience, symptoms, and the location of the chain restaurant. I was glad to share this info so that possibly others could avoid what happened to me. Now, I regularly receive alerts from you, which I find helpful in avoiding certain products when they are being recalled because of contaminants. I’ve had food poisoning and I never want to experience it again . Normally I wouldn't care but a few years ago my disabled daughter got horribly sick and we couldn't figure out why. It wasn't until we looked up things that we found recall on Lucky Charms. I frequent Publix...ALOT! There was no notice about the recall on Boar's Head deli meats posted when I went in a few weeks ago for my weekly sub. I mentioned the email your site sent and the deli worker was not aware while another one (wasn't making much sandwich) advised they were told about the recall in a morning meeting. My “event” happened on a Saturday night, and the county health department was closed on Sunday. So it was helpful to be able to report the event with all of details right away. And what I didn’t realize is that the local health department gets all of the reports to “iwaspoisoned”, so I didn’t have to wonder if the info was recorded officially, nor did I have to resubmit the data. The health department just called me with a few more specific questions, and that was it.

Thank you for the informed follow-up to my food poisoning report I submitted just yesterday (16 dec), very quick response. I've never gotten hit with this before. I'm a local NYC resident who loves bagels, surprise. Turns out my fav place was and has been a rat infested multi violation the years kind of place. And foolish me just thought the place had "character". Your site has good info, resources and that quiz thing that is great because going through that makes you feel more informed about the specific nature of what you got hit with. There are many versions of this apparently with some being more dangerous than others. So it was comforting to feel like I was getting better specifics for my particular situation. At first I was seeking info, I also wanted to report the bagel store. Even though the place had been shut down I wanted to let others know, find some way of knowing how many others has similar experiences there and wanted to have some impact on the store owner. Reporting to the NYC DOH was a joke. It goes into some vast bureaucrat black hole and due to "privacy concerns" you can't even get stats on how many other reports there may have been. So unsurprisingly, a bureaucratic dead end. I made several posts on Reddit and local news blogs but that's just glorified bitching. Thank you for providing a useful resource during a stressful experience in an otherwise Internet desert of black holes. Shut Taco bell down w. 95th Street. I get sick from just typing this. Drive thru Friday afternoon I after 430pm before 6pm ordered Taco box; two cinnamon tings. I ate the Doritos taco six hours later felt like I was dying the vomit was coming out like a damn cartoon. Not funny..... I'm taking the rest of this shit back and I'm getting my money. This is shameful. All theses damn places and lost their minds. I should have known the dum was empty. I don't eat Taco bell never ever.

I went to the Kahala McDonald’s and had a cheeseburger Happy Meal. Two hours later, I broke out in a cold sweat and felt nauseous. An ambulance was called. I was taken to the ER. The food gave me diarrhea. Was told I had food poisoning.

Hi! I am recently retired. I have reported one instance of food poisoning from a frozen meal product. Whenever I get an email from IwasPoisoned about cheese or sandwich meats, I check out refrigerator. One time I did find some recalled shredded cheese in our fridge. Due to reading all of the email reports, I now avoid all Chicken Tender meals & Boneless Chicken meals from fast food restaurants. I also avoid salad kits & uncooked bean sprouts. Also, I have learned symptoms of Listeriosis don’t appear for three weeks to 70days from the time one eats a Listeria tainted food. Thank you!

Keeping me informed about the different outbreaks of food poisoned within my area and in the United States. I had my first case of food poisoning in February 23, 2024, and it was horrible. And the sad part about, I was sick as hell, was out of town, went to a urgent care doctor the next day, in South Carolina and was treated. The morning of the 24th my sickness started, I could not keep water down. Afterward, It cause me all kind of illness in my digestive system. I new where I had eaten last, was out of town attending my 75th birthday. I live in Georgia, So when I got back home, I immediately reported it a sight about reporting food poisoning and my encounter and signed up to this sight. Then, 2-week later after I got back home my symptoms reoccured, which the urgent care doctor had said, might occur in my medical notes. And I should go to the ER for treatment. So then I made and appointment with my Digestive disease doctor, about the food poison. After I got back home from my trip to, I had check to see if there were others that may has gotten sick or food poison from the same place, Zaxby chicken salad, that's what I had eaten on that evening. I had reported to the urgent care doctor the other place where I had eaten that evening after eating the chicken salad from Zabxy's, and also agreed that's probably where I got it from.

Food poisoning twice at a BJs restaurant. 1. prime rib special. Husband ordered med. rare. Looked very rare, we should have turned it back. He got very sick. 2. Second chance I ordered a Philly Cheese sandwich. I was very sick. Reported it to BJ's both incidents. They refunded money, but cannot risk BJs again.

My family HATES that I subscribe to this. It's my guide to where we shouldn't eat or what we shouldn't buy and I quote it all the time. I find it so helpful, especially when I begin to see patterns in the same places or types of foods that make people sick. For the past couple of years, I hadn't been getting as many reports, and the few that I did never seemed to apply. It was usually specific products, usually unfamiliar to me or my local area, instead of places. But lately it's been giving me the information like I used to get and I'm so happy about it. I think it’s about time people started talking about their foodstuffs in detail. Theirs a lot going wrong in our food industry. The chemicals used in highly processed foods are just one problem that’s helping with the nightmare of health issues we’re dealing nowadays.

El Super- Inglewood, CA purchased tamales on Thursday. Jan 25th, funny smell in reheating yesterday and today after consuming half a tamale, my spouse got violently sick and had cramps and severe diaherria. Will never buy tamales here again. Dangerous especially with older people.

Howdy! I believe I finally found the culprit causing my digestive problems. I have looked at all kinds of things online from food allergies to cancer. Been to the doctor a month ago when it all started, then again yesterday to no avail. My doctor did mention food poisoning. Couldn't think of anything. Went to the lab for bloodwork (still waiting for results) and a kit for a stool sample. This morning while I was eating my cereal and thinking and pondering, I suddenly thought, what do I do everyday? I have eaten a bowl of Lucky Charms every morning for the past year or so. I already changed all my dairy products to lactose free. Hmmm, I wonder if it could be the cereal? So I pulled up Lucky Charms on-line and OH my goodness there was a lot of info.. Apparently the FDA has been investigating 7300 cases of people nationwide getting sick from eating Lucky Charms. All the symptoms described matched my symptoms exactly. I had no idea it was the cereal. So out to the trash with the box of Lucky Charms. Tomorrow I will have eggs and toast. Hopefully my tummy issues will go away soon.

New Years Eve 2019 I ate at a restaurant I occasionally visit and got food poisoning. I am certain it came from the chicken.
