JD is someone I have grown to respect and confide in, having initially had the opportunity to work alongside him as an operator in the field. JD is an excellent critical thinker and very strategic in his approach. As a leader, his style is to help shape a strategic operating framework with clear objectives and desired outcomes, then to empower his team with a good degree of autonomy and back them with unyielding conviction and support. JD is a very capable coach and mentor, but equally as comfortable in the weeds contributing directly to projects and assignments. JD doesn't pull any punches and isn't obsessed in winning popularity contests and vanity recognition. Instead he focuses on continuous improvement and sets a high bar in doing so, while putting the emphasis on teamwork and enabling individuals. JD has an ability to cut through a lot of BS and get to the heart of problems, help unpick them, and drive winning strategies and behaviours for the benefit of all stakeholders. As a result of seeing JD's work, you get a sense of what best practice looks like in many operational disciplines, coupled with a sharp focus on high-performance and accountability. JD's operational experience and executive leadership skills will be a benefit to any team and set of shareholders.
I had the privilege of being a part of JD's team from my P2Sample days. A keen listener, strategist and a leader par excellence, JD brings method midst chaos. The systems and processes that he set-up in Operations and Quality domains during the P2Sample tenure, and thereafter when P2Sample was acquired by Cint, were absolutely phenomenal. It was intriguing to me as to how the processes that JD actioned were so well-rooted and executed among hundreds of employees spanning multiple geographies and cultures! What's more, the processes that he conceptualized and put into place then are effective to this day! JD also has a very good knack of identifying the "right people for the right job" - he identifies leaders and gives them a free hand to run the show. I have had the opportunity of working with leaders that he groomed, and they're thorough professionals when it comes to their respective domain expertise and areas. A strong advocate for Quality improvement in market research, JD led the way at P2Sample, and then Cint, towards improving Quality across the industry through his detailed reports on Quality and fighting fraud, as also mobilizing people across the market research space towards the Quality cause. Personally, I have learnt a lot from JD's leadership style: meticulous, inspiring, objective and data-oriented, empathetic, supportive, a keen listener and a great presenter, process architect, ideator and a mentor who prepares leaders for the future! It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to work with such a genius, and given an opportunity, I would love to be a member of his team again!
