I was lucky enough to see Charlie speak at the PSA National spring conference in Manchester in April 2023, and wow did she deliver! Charlie owned the stage, had her audience hooked and really got me thinking very honestly about what marketing activities I'm 'avoiding' - and why. It's often easier to push the difficult tasks aside, promising to 'look at them later', but 'later' never happens - well now I feel I can hold myself to account much more and make 'later' happen 'now'!!

As a content creator, I appreciate but am immune to presentations that look great but don't deliver. I tend to judge speeches by what the audience actually takes away, puts into practice and talks about afterwards. Charlie gave everyone in the room some really practical ways of "unsticking" their business goals with a simple structure that forces you to address the things that prevent you from getting there. For the rest of the day after she had spoken, aspects of her speech came up in conversation with others and I knew that I would be revisiting Charlie's approach myself when I got home and could give it more attention. In short: Charlie immediately made change happen in the room. She had a lasting impact. And I think that her model for change will be something that I go back to.
