Joining SAY village, Robin McWilliams opened his door to everyone, providing us with amazing opportunities. From having the best student partner every Tuesday to being given the greatest opportunity to go to Savannah, GA for the National Youth Advocating Resilience Conference even if it was just to observe, Robin has given myself and so many others amazing opportunities to advocate for ourselves and for the youth and it has truly helped me shape me for my career!

My favorite place on campus has to be Hunt Library; I benefit a lot from dedicated study spaces, and the quiet study space is very nice. My favorite place on the north campus has to be the Riddick Hearth. I have a lot of classes in Riddick, so I have grown to like the hearth quite a bit.

I am currently researching under Dr. Blondin, which as my first research experience, will surely shape my career.

NC State has helped me grow by forcing me to learn better time management skills, or else I would not be able to do well in my classes.

NC State supports me by way of the resources it provides: transportation all across campus, dining halls to get lots of food easily, and lots of community events to make things fun.

I met Debbie, Leshawn, and Kim at Case dining hall! She is so sweet and welcoming. She was able to help me because she was a voice of reason for me and she also always makes me smile when I go to case and we always hug! I feel my worries melt away when I see them.

The NC State pride center has provided a place of community and support for me for the last 4 years. I started attending NC State in Fall 2022. I went to the Pride Symposium and quickly became involved in the pride center. I met many of my current friends there and am an active member of Bi-Pan. I ended up transferring to Wake Tech Community College but I still regularly visit the pride center and attend club meetings. NC State’s pride center has been an integral part of my college experience.

NC State has made its mark on me by allowing me to pursue my passion. I am in CALS and every professor I've had has shown me how passionate they are about their work and what they are teaching. It means so much to be able to move forward with my major with people that support me and support what I am working towards.

Being selected into the Fellows Program changed my life. The training and experiences that I received in the Fellows Program gave me the skills to become an effective servant leader. It also gave me the confidence that I had the ability to lead groups in a way that would benefit others. I was able to use those skills in my 41 year career in local government where I was able to make significant impacts on the residents in the communities where I lived.

My Latin professor and his clear passion for the subject has allowed me to fall in love with the subject all over again! I chose to pursue a minor in Classical Studies with a Latin concentration because I simply couldn't get enough of learning this wonderful language. It is so rewarding, and an even better learning experience with such a wonderful professor.

My favorite place on campus is the Court of Carolina, especially during the warmer months because everyone can relax and hang out on the large grass spaces. I can go there whenever I want to de-stress. One moment at NC State that changed my direction was when I joined Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity, because it opened me up to new experiences and amazing friends. NC State has much support for almost any area of interest you can think of, and I am grateful for the resources like counseling and support groups for all different kinds of organizations.

NC State has given me many experiences, but one I appreciate a lot is being able to perform with the NC State Wind Ensemble. Being able to make music with my peers and friends has allowed me to have an outlet that differs greatly from my typical STEM area major, and enjoy myself practicing on my own and as a group to create a notable experience for any listener who attends our concerts.

I started working at NC State in 2017, and this past year has shown me the strength of the Wolfpack like none other. My first novel was published last August, and my colleagues at NC State have showed up for me in ways I could not even imagine. From events to interviews to highlighting the book in NC State Magazine, my Wolfpack colleagues in University Advancement and beyond have gone out of their way to support me, and it has truly made a mark on me and my writing career. I've always enjoyed working here, but this experience has reminded me how fulfilling it is to be a part of something greater than one's self. The strength of the wolf truly is the Pack, and I couldn't be more grateful!

NC State made its mark on me by giving me the chance to attend my dream school for my master’s degree. I was constantly awestruck, not only by the opportunity itself, but by professors who truly lived up to the reputation and inspired me in ways that shaped both my professional path and personal growth. Getting selected as an OWEP Scholar (Opioid Workforce Expansion Program) was a highlight while I was there. It helped me grow as a person and as a professional who now works in behavioral health. Clients who come in with addiction I feel better qualified to work with because of State's training. Go Pack!

My favorite place on campus is outside of Talley! For supportive events or awesome small businesses, I find it the most times where me and my twin meet and have a fun time!

Along with my sister, I occasionally meet other classmates. That being said, an older friend of mine, a junior, informed me of his discoveries in NC State trying to find himself a career he could call his own. I was lucky to have a similar interest, neuroscience! He shaped my career to be based off what I am comfortable with, realizing that there is a place out there for me, not only at NC State but everywhere.

I transferred to NC State in Fall 2024 as a junior. My academic experience has changed for the better ever since I became a member of the Wolfpack. Even though my time at NC State has been short, I’ve enjoyed it immensely. Some of my best memories were on sunny days outside of Park Shops, sitting beneath the trees on a bench. After classes on main campus, that’s been a go-to spot for me to decompress after a long day. Hunt Library is also one of my favorite places to be— I study better there, and the rooftop balcony overlooking Lake Raleigh is where I’ve seen some of the prettiest sunsets in my life. I’ve had support from various professors who encouraged me to do my best amidst hardships, and whom I’ve shared meaningful conversations with in office hours. As I move forward with my academic career and prepare to enter the workforce, I remember every little moment that brought me to where I am today. NC State has given me the courage to step outside of my comfort zone and reach for opportunities I hadn’t considered before, such as studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland and working at Hunt Library. With a degree in International Studies and minor in Art Studies, I will conduct further global cultural research abroad in the future while hanging onto my passions for art. I wish to spread hope and encourage others in the work, just as my peers and NC State faculty have done for me.

NC State has done so much for me. The Pride Center has given me a space to be myself and feel supported. The faculty in Tech Engineering Education have woken up my passion to want to be a professor. TRIO Programs have helped guide me through each year and supported me along the way. The close knit communities and people I have met here in my 5 years are the main reason I will be graduating in May and will be coming back for graduate school in August.

NC State made its mark on me in ways I didn’t expect. One of my favorite memories is taking an Italic Calligraphy class at the NC State Crafts Center. I signed up mostly out of curiosity but it quickly became one of the most relaxing and creative parts of my week. Sitting there practicing strokes, learning how small angles and pressure changes could completely transform a letter, and slowly seeing words come together on the page felt really rewarding. As a computer science student, I spend a lot of time thinking in code and logic so having a space on campus where I could slow down and create something by hand was really special. The Craft Center reminded me that creativity can exist alongside technology and it’s a place that still resonates with me because it helped me reconnect with a passion for art while balancing a demanding academic path. It’s one of those small but meaningful experiences at NC State that helped shape who I am.

When I started my MSW program at NC State in the Fall of 2025, I had the mindset of pursuing a career in clinical therapy. I saw myself working one-on-one with clients and supporting them through deeply personal challenges. However, my practicum placement at the Pride Center changed that vision in ways I never expected. The Pride Center is more than just a space on campus, but a welcoming and uplifting environment where students can show up exactly as they are. Every day, I have witnessed the power of belonging as students came in seeking connection, support, resources, or simply a place to breathe between classes. What stood out to me most was how intentional the center is about student well-being. This is well-being not just related to academics, but emotional and social as well. It is a space rooted in caring for students. Through my practicum, I saw the large-scale impact that student support work can have across an entire campus community. Whether it was programming, one-on-one conversations, or community-building events, the effect was undeniable. Supporting students at this level by helping create environments where they feel safe, valued, and empowered shifted my professional goals entirely. With my experience at the Pride Center, I am now looking to pursue a future in higher education. I want to continue building welcoming spaces that center student well-being and belonging. The impact we have on students across campus is tremendous, and I cannot imagine more meaningful work for my future. NC State hasn't just been preparing me for a career, but it has helped me discover the direction I was meant to take all along.
