When I was eight years old (2008) I got over my fear of heights and rides on the Sea Dragon. It became my favorite ride and I never wanted to get off. So happy to have and share the love of the attraction.

I always remember getting the dropping feeling and a little bit of airtime this ride always made my day!

my entire high school experience was outlined by trips to the pier. the sea dragon was iconic, a must ride every time. i celebrated my 15th, 16th and 17th birthday at that pier and on that ride, screaming in joy. i’ll miss you ❤️ my childhood

Me and my best friend, Grace, would drive from the valley to ride the sea dragon all the time just for fun. It was our favorite activity together. The sea dragon is a huge part of our friendship and lives. We will miss you sea dragon!

The only thing I wanted to do for my 40th, me and some fellow Argonauts.

I have two favorite memories on the Sea Dragon!! I was on the Sea Dragon once for my 13th birthday and I didn’t know it at the time but as the ride went on I was sitting next to Will Smith with my face in his lap crying because I was so afraid of that ride!! And recently my mom encouraged me to ride and told me that I would like it, so I did!! And from that day on, the Sea Dragon became one of my favorites!!

My very first time I ever went to the beach was when I was 17 and the moment I stepped foot on Santa Monica pier and saw the sea dragon, I made sure to ride at the very last seat so I can have the full experience. Still one of my best memories. After that year, I made sure to ride the sea dragon every December and I always had a blast.

I live very close to the pier. My memory of the dragon, rather humorously, is the sound of children, screaming with a glee in rhythm with its pendular swings. So, it’s the sound of the dragon! Or better yet, the sound of those riding the dragon I will miss. Really a great looking ride, I hate to see it go.

After Covid lockdown, my best friend Steve and I would take the expo train up to Santa Monica just to go on this ride. We made it our monthly tradition and sometimes we’d go twice a month. After the ride, we would go back home and it was such a bonding time for us. Even though we started our monthly tradition with this sea dragon, we’re excited for the next. It’s bittersweet.

On April 1, 2002, my then 51-year-old husband and 7-year-old son rode the Sea Dragon 16 times in a row!

as the electrical supervisor for the park construction, we assembled and were the first to test ride "the Dragon" at 4am, perfect silence, and the "Swoosh" up and back, was all that was heard.

High above the sea, the Dragon flew With lifelike heads and thrills anew For twenty-seven years, it soared with glee And brought joy to all who dared to see With drops and launches, it took us high And rocked us gently, through the sky From Hollywood to music scene The Dragon was a star machine Now, its time has come to say goodbye But not without a fond goodbye For memories made and laughter shared Will always be a part of what we bared Pacific Park now stands alone Without the Dragon, it's not quite home But with a new one soon to come We'll find our thrill and fly once more So thank you, Sea Dragon, for the ride And for the joy you brought inside We'll never forget your swinging ways And the memories that will always stay.

I remember the first time I went on the ride. My eyes were scrunched closed and I was crying like a baby. When the ride was over, I wanted to go again. What a thrill!

I have such fond memories of riding the Sea Dragon with my brother when he was little. It was his favorite ride at the park, and we would ride it multiple times every time we came! So sad to see it go, but SO excited for the new one!

I've always loved rides like this one, but this one was my favorite. I'm really freaked out by the wheel for various reasons, so I'd always run out of there and straight for the Sea Dragon. I know it's just a ride, but for me it was like a friend who was always there for me when I needed it, so it's a little bittersweet and I'm sad to see it go, but I'm also really excited for the new one! I have so many cool pics of this one so it was hard to choose one, but this one is pretty cool. Thank you and farewell, OG dragon friend, you will be missed!
