Oliver Lampson
My name is Oliver Lampson and we’ve worked on improving my musicianship and ability to play in a professional ensemble setting. Working with Mr. Harris has broadened my perspective on playing in a section. I enjoy being able to play excerpts and duets with Mr. Harris because he always has great tips and critique to share. He’s taught me many things about the mechanics of playing, which have allowed me to self-diagnose issues in my playing and figure out what I need to do to remedy them. Mr. Harris sets himself apart from others because he is able to demonstrate a wide range of technique and give detailed explanations to each facet of playing. In the future, I can see Mr. Harris playing a huge role in my growth as an orchestral musician, as he has years of experience in this field. I recommend getting in contact with Mr. Harris if you’re looking to improve your abilities and experiences as a musician!

Jordan Amara
I am Jordan Amara, Assistant Director of Bands at Shadow Creek High School. Since taking on the role of managing the lessons and masterclass schedule, Rich has been a wonderful addition to the Shadow Creek High School lesson and masterclass staff. He brings an endless amount of knowledge and passion to our students that they feed off of and grow from. Rich is incredibly flexible in his scheduling, always putting the student's needs first. I am excited to see what the future holds for our students with Rich at the forefront of the trumpet lessons and masterclass staff.

Yuri McCoy
Rich is among the finest trumpeters I've had the privelage of playing with. Aside from his technical mastery, his ability to improvise and provide exactly what's musically needed in a moment's notice are quite remarkable. He's an effective musician all around!

Jonathan Persaud
I’m Jonathan Persaud, a trumpet player in the Houston area in pursuit of my first professional orchestra job. I went to college for trumpet performance but immediately following school I put the horn down and didn’t touch it for 3 years. After my 3 year break I hopped back onto the horn and about 4 months into my journey back I was referred to Rich through a mutual friend to help me. We’ve now been working together for about a year and a half and my playing is far beyond where it ever was and I actually feel as though I’m getting to where I need to be as a trumpet player due to Rich’s help. Rich has SO many things that set him apart from other teachers I’ve worked with but some of the biggest ones that have had the most impact on me as a student is his massive heart, his absolute wealth of knowledge, and his ability to quickly diagnose an issue and provide several solutions. I say Rich has a massive heart because he genuinely cares about any musician that comes to him looking for help, wether it be a student looking to take lessons full time with him or a professional just looking for some pointers. You will come out of your lesson feeling as though you’ve made a friend who just happens to be REALLY good at playing and teaching the trumpet. Rich has a wealth of knowledge because he has been on a mission since the day he started to be the best player he can and along the way has worked with A LOT of big name teachers taking things in as he’s gone, not to mention all of the things he’s figured out on his own. He’s not one of those teachers that plays really well but doesn’t know how to convey to a student what they are doing. He has a phenomenal grasp of literally everything he’s doing and he’s great at helping his students figure out their path to the same conclusion. I don’t ever want to quit working with Rich, he’s been the BIGGEST asset I’ve had in all of my trumpet playing and I couldn’t imagine not working with him! I would urge anyone looking for a teacher to take at least one lesson with Rich. That’s all it’ll take and you’ll realize there’s no other way.
