This game production course offered a robust overview of the development process. Its practical approach, including the provision of meeting templates, was particularly beneficial. This hands-on element provided valuable insights into real-world challenges and solutions. While covering a broad spectrum of topics, the course effectively balanced theoretical knowledge with practical application. The structure and pacing allowed for a clear understanding of each stage of production. I believe the course has equipped me with a solid foundation in game production and has prepared me to contribute effectively to a development team.

Founder - Distraction Factory Games
I have over 15 years of production experience and signed up for this course after the free intro seminar. Having had the chance to work with Ben and Aaron in real time was a pleasure. I had high expectations for this course and I don't regret my choice at all. If I were a new producer, I would find a great deal of value in getting an "unvarnished truth" and some tips and tricks to starting my career off on the right foot. As an experienced producer who has led projects and larger teams, I found a lot of insight in processes and meetings, as well as seeing a larger view of the pitfalls to avoid for each. Being a producer is hard, and most game producers come to the role organically, through some promotion or lateral transfer. It is inexpensive and content rich courses like this that can help make sense of the chaos and give folks additional tools to tame what is still a fairly maverick industry.

In my opinion the training covers topics that every producer, junior or not, should know. It explains the real value of a producer being a part of the team and points out the common pitfalls we usually are prone to falling into. Ben not only calls them out but also proves that we all can do much better, if we understand the role we can play within the team. He offers numerous pieces of advice that are combined into one bigger picture: a producer empowered and capable to work in any studio and environment, regardless of the company size, hierarchy and culture, and regardless of what the role looks on paper.

I am Sudhamshu, currently working as a Lead Game Producer at Hypernova Interactive in Bengaluru, India. We have worked on multiple casual and midcore mobile games and over the past 3 years been working on an open world action mobile game set in an Indian city. To anyone taking this course, I would say this is one of the most unique courses and course instructors you will find out there. I have been listening to the Building Better Games podcast diligently and there is value in every word that is said and discussed. The same applies here. The course is very grounded, real, and honest and it will broaden your understanding of what 'game production' could actually mean. If you want to become a great leader while making great games, this is the course to take. The most significant takeaway for me was the importance of focusing on value and being reflective and conscious of everything we do or say as Game Producers. I really liked the module that dealt with Onboarding and 1:1s. I found all the materials and frameworks provided in this module really beneficial. Thank you so much for creating this course and the podcast. I am looking forward to more!

I'm Gabriel Rossito, a Game Producer and passionate gamer. Previously, I worked with Envar Entertainment (art outsourcing for Riot and other AAA companies), Kokku (Outsourcing and porting for AAA and AA companies like Gamemasters and other EA studios), and Afterverse (a mobile developer, known for PK XD), as well as other small game development projects. I highly recommend this course! You don't need to be a producer or project manager; even if you're a programmer or artist, gaining insight into what to expect and understanding the organization's values is incredibly beneficial. I found a place where game production is discussed coherently and truthfully, without fear or doubt. The course was invaluable to me as it reinforced my existing knowledge and dispelled doubts I had. It provided confirmation that I was on the right path, instilling confidence to continue pushing in the game industry. The lesson on alignment was particularly crucial, offering clarity on a topic that was challenging for me to grasp, helping me identify and understand the true problems that had been bothering me without clear explanation.

Overall this was a great course that drilled down into the content expressed in Building Better Games' podcast and newsletter. If you don't have the time to listen through the 50+ hours of episodes, then this is a great cliff notes version. Some great topics include holistic leadership, common production traps, and general alignment towards what a producer is. Plus, the end of module questions help add perspective and relatability to the content learned.

I chanced upon this course on Linkedin, and decided to enroll to learn more about the producer role and how to be an effective one. I'm glad I did! As an aspiring producer, this course has helped me learn a lot more about the role compared to other online resources, along with some practical examples and templates that I can apply in my day-to-day, bi-weekly and monthly tasks. I appreciate the effort spent putting this together, and I look forward to more production related courses from the folks at BBG!

I worked as an Assistant Producer in game development for over a year prior to getting laid off. I found this course in hopes of keeping my skills sharp and building upon the foundations I've already learned. This course offers something for those new to production and those with experience. Introductions to concepts, refreshers, and interactive elements in order to rethink how you or your organization handle your production process. Out of the lessons learned from this course, the ones that stood out to me were the lessons focused on leadership vs management, production traps, breaking down meetings into their bare essentials, and onboarding yourself into a new company. This course has been a great value for someone like myself who is interested in getting deeper into production in games!

I'm Brendan, a Product Manager in the financial services industry. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested (both in the gaming industry and outside). Ben does an amazing job breaking down the importance of the role, what you should and should not be focused on, how to avoid common pitfalls, and provides tons of in depth examples along the way. The most significant benefit from the course for me was leveraging Ben's understanding of the role and seeing how decisions play out over the long term. I have less experience in this type of role, and I now have a greater understanding of how some of my decisions and actions can impact the broader team and the results we create. I found lots of value in the different 'traps' each type of producer can fall into, as well as the lessons around what types of meetings I should be having, the ongoing conversations in those meetings, and who should be in attendance.

I had no way of knowing what good leadership/producing is, until I met the folks at BBG. They showed me what that looks like, they gave me a northstar.
