Great book! I bought the digital version of the Pool Care Handbook. Matt does a great job of explaining the inner workings of your pool. Even if you don’t want to tackle the maintenance yourself this book will help equip you with the knowledge you need to make sure your pool service company is looking after your pool correctly.

This app has been great for me, being brand new to owning a pool. The information is easy to absorb and it gives you everything you need while staying out of the weeds. Treatment plans are super easy to understand and follow. The only thing I can think of to make it better is offering product suggestions. I already kind of does this with the treatment plans, but different brands might call it something different. Overall, great app. Absolutely would recommend.

I was struggling with the app. After several emails back and forth with SU I was still struggling. The owner then put together and very detailed video addressing my issues. This completely helped me understand and I am 100% happy with the app. The app was fine all along, it was me that struggled. I highly recommend this app!

I am about sixteen months into owning and caring for a new-construction pool. After the video course, I have a pretty good idea what I am doing so far. I have flipped through the pages of this book and it looks very high quality. So far I have not needed to use it, but I very much like how thorough it appears to be. I know that as various problems arise that I have not yet encountered, this book will be a great resource for me to grab off the shelf and solve the problem myself without having to call a professional.

I am so glad I invested in both the Pool and Hot Tub books. It had me question my pool cleaner about my salt cell and sure enough .. they have not been cleaning at all and the cell died a week later. Luckily with your information, I got the salt cell replaced for free because of them not cleaning every 3 months. Both books are a gem for anyone with a pool and/or hot tub ... I highly recommend.

So I finally caved and bought the Pool Care Handbook, which is excellent by the way. I've spent a few years on the email list getting great and timely tips on virtually every aspect of pool care, and I realized that it is taking too much time digging through emails to retrieve answers to specific questions. The money spent on the book pays for itself, both in tangible ways and time saved. Thanks again, and sorry it took so long!

My biggest concern was chemicals. You have answered all my questions regarding chemicals. I have also learned other issues i wasn't sure about. This book will make a great gift to others that have spas and or pools.

I have recommended swim university to others. When my husband passed away last year I was at a loss in so many ways. Caring for my pool so overwhelming and I didn't know what to do or where to start. Biggest struggle for me was keeping the water at the proper levels with the chemicals. The book helped me understand what I was supposed to do. Yes, I would recommend you to other pool owners. I also signed up for the app that tells you exactly what chemicals need to be added to the pool. That was spot on when I took a water sample to the pool store.

For a lack of better words it’s just really “dumb” down for new pool owners such as myself. I completely understand stood it from front to back, didn’t leave me with questions. Best advice I got from it was really maintaining a good pH and alkalinity. My local pool shop would just tell me “oh just shock it” but it never really did anything just looked even worse to be honest. That’s when I got the book and pH and alkalinity was introduced and that’s what saved my pool.

Our biggest problem was a green pool when we opened it up. And buying to many chemicals. We live in Carolina Beach and waiting for the temperature to stay at 65 so we can close it. Still struggling with a pool cover or a mesh. Yes your book did help. And I would recommend you to friends.

The handbook has proven an invaluable tool for me. We own and manage several vacation villas in the Galilee region of Israel, each with its own private swimming pool. The pool maintenance has always been a big challenge, and at times we faced issues that we didn't find accurate or effective solutions for. Last year when I opened my pool it was a mess. Algae dark green and thick. A week later I could see the bottom. I bought the pool care handbook mainly for that reason. Your chapter on pool closing could be better. How soon after shocking for the last time can I add the algaecide? Can I add liquid chlorine after algaecide? Allow chlorine levels to drop down to normal? I just shocked it. Page 224-226 are not too clear. Oh well, Im glad I bought it anyway, thanks, Gaylen

The Hot Tub Handbook is very well written and easy to understand. It has really helped me with deep cleaning/purging pipes and when to do it. I also like how I can quickly review and order Swim University’s recommended products through a link, and these are the products I will use as I trust Swim University to know what is needed. I’ve taken the Hot Tub Handbook’s cleaning recommendations and added them to my regular schedules. This will keep my spa running well for many, many more years! I highly recommend this book!

Are you a novice and know zero about pools and pool maintenance? I can unequivocally attest to the immense value that Swim University brings to the table! Like most, I started with a YouTube search. Stumbled across Swim University. Thumbnails on the videos are catchy so I click on a couple. Quickly find out that I’m out of my depth but they have a website and talk about the Pool Care Handbook. Go to the website and it’s $50. I think “well if it’s worthless, it’s only $50.” Boy was I in for a nice surprise. They should sell it for more. This book, is laid out in a way that it layers in the information as you go along. It’s colorful, easy to read and follow and has a TON of great information. I read it in 2 days and quickly found out that I needed to update my old equipment I inherited and had everything at my fingertips to do it myself. Then I went back to YouTube. Matt, the owner has so many videos that break down any pool issue you might be having and how to fix it. I’ve since recommended them to two friends and will continue to be an ambassador for this brand. I can’t say enough great things of Swim University!

I was happy to begin receiving emails from you! I decided to order your book and have looked thru it. It appears to be well organized. I have already covered my pool for the winter and will read the book after the first of the year.

For years I struggled to get my chemicals right. My water would go cloudy and I didn't know why. My water would go green and I did know what I had done wrong. The Pool Care Handbook has saved me from myself. It has given me the resources I need to have the perfect pool. I ordered the book at the end of the season last year and I was able to successfully winter over my above ground pool for the first time. No more taking it down and putting it back up. And this summer was perfect. Clear water all summer and I didn't spend more time than previous years. I was finally able to do the right things to keep it perfect. very informative and helpful. Handbook covers everything one needs to know thoroughly. Bought to help with cleaning and first empty/refill. Struggle - with tub emptied, got a rail that ‘slides’ under the tub to secure it. Even emptied not sure how to lift tub just a 1/2” to place handrail? suggestions? Wish that I had purchased the book! Would be easier for me to use ( tech challenged 😐)

My biggest struggle was I could not control the algae in my pool. My inground pool is 23 years old. My problem started about 8 years ago. After discovering Swim University and purchasing The Pool Care Book, I discovered my issue was in the chlorine. Too late in the season now, but next year I will be following the information provided which has given a clear understanding of my swimming pool water and how to care for it.

I have some experience with a small swimming pool, but struggled with keeping the chemicals in balance. We recently purchased an inflatable hot tub so I purchased the online manual from SU. It’s very well written and explains everything in detail in easy to understand language. I had a couple of questions specific to the inflatable hot tub that I wanted answered and Matt replied within the hour. Wow! Now that’s service. DIY pool care and maintenance is not long hard work. It’s quick and easy work when you know what to do. Just buy the SU pool care book and work in simple easy systems that keep your pool conditioned for swimming, at 1/2 of the cost of hiring a pool service company.

As a soon to be new pool owner, the care of maintaining a pool was overwhelming. Getting Matt’s book and viewing his videos made the process much easier then it sounds and very doable. About 1/4 of the book is info I don't need. The rest of the book is very informative, refer to it more than owner's manual the hot tub came with. Lot of good information that I have already applied.

As first time pool owners, we are basically clueless about how to take care of a swimming pool. Lots of questions continually pop up-“How do you adjust alkalinity?” “What chemical do you add first?” “How long should be wait before using the pool after adding chemicals?” “Shock a pool?? That sounds dangerous! I didn’t think electricity and water mixed!” You see what I mean - clueless. I was so happy to find this book as I can consult it easily any time an issue arises, and it always has the answer I am seeking, in clear and concise language that anyone can understand. With the help of this publication, we are nearing the end of our first swimming season much more confident in our ability to handle whatever comes up pool-wise. I highly recommend this book. It has all the answers you need in one convenient place.

Made everything about pool ownership easier. Learning a lot from the book, don’t feel as overwhelmed.

Even though I cover the pool each winter the spring opening becomes an arduous affair that requires 6-8 weeks of massive cleaning and chemical intervention. The help of Matt and his videos and book have helped me to resolve this much quicker and also to keep the pool in a much more balanced, clean condition. I barely made it through High School Chemistry so the straightforward explanations of what is happening with the water has greatly contributed to understanding what is going on with the pool and being able to head off problems before they become full blown disasters.

Biggest struggle was learning how to maintain the chemical levels in my pool. My husband passed and always did the maintenance. I did not have a clue what to do. So I started watching you videos and it helped me get in the right path. I would highly recommend to friends and already have recommended your videos and book to a friend who just put a pool in.

Biggest struggle was changing from Chlorine to Bromine. Had used Chlorine with previous tub but was recommended to use Bromine. Your instructions were excellent. Also glad that a digital version was available as I live in England.

Our pool is ANCIENT, and we are learning that this is going to be a great guide. We are going to have it resurfaced soon and are also dealing with some filter issues, so we are hoping to be able to get some guidance from it there.

Very helpfu! Getting water clear is my biggest issue

My biggest struggle was chemical balance. After reading your book, I was able to get my water cleared up. All these years I was operating on a budget. I realize now that it is less expensive to spend the money upfront and have clear water all season. Here in Michigan there is only 17 days of pool time.

Recently, I decided that I wanted to learn more about how to look after my pool, after three years of mostly relying on the company that built it to tell me what to do. They are good and knowledgeable people, but I didn't really understand the details of pool care very well. I got myself a good test kit and purchased Swim University's Pool Care Handbook. The Handbook was a game changer for me. Its contents cover every component of a pool system and how to care for it. It is written in language that is clear and easy to understand. And it has helped take away the stress I felt previously about caring for my pool. I would definitely recommend Swim University's Pool Care Handbook to anyone who wants to understand how to care for their pool better.

General care of the pool was turned over to me. This book is very readable. So far so good with just the book.

My biggest struggle was keeping my chemicals, balanced, and understanding how to do so as well as why they were out of balance. I needed to know the whys. I have finally been able to defeat that mustard algae bloom and also the green algae. I had been a diligent pool keeper but obviously I didn’t know how to do this properly. Your short videos really really helped me and now that I have your book I can reference it too. I love it. I’m telling anyone who will listen to me to listen to your podcasts and get this book! Seriously this is the best pool podcast I have ever listened to and I’m spreading the word.

A very easy to read book on swimming pools. I was held off for weeks because of the price but finally bought it as I was getting so many different answers to my questions. I'm very glad I purchased the book.

We wanted to inform ourselves in taking care of our inflatable Intex pool (Summer Waves 10X30). This will be a good practice for when we buy a bigger pool next year. I love the book. It is very informative. I keep gravitating towards the YouTube videos as well (Where I found out about the ebook).
