After a lifelong career split between the military and military contracting, I have started down the path of tech sales! These two career paths don't seem to overlap, but I'm lucky enough to have developed an array of talents that transferred well to the tech sales arena. Persistence, following protocol, attention to detail, and great oral communication are skills that were honed over the last 10 years of my life. This made a foundation for my start in tech. Since starting at Rippling, I've worked with extremely talented people who only offer solutions and are relentlessly positive. Everyone is on their game and it makes you check yourself! I love working around other elite professionals with career growth in sight!
Now, let me tell you how I got here.
Some former colleagues of mine from the same industry told me about their transition to tech sales. I saw their success and how well-suited they were for it. They shared their connection with me and introduced me to Tech Sales Mentors. Sameer Jauhar and Nigel Satenstein ID'd key skills that I could showcase, recommended relevant companies in tech, and taught me about sales development in tech. This filled the gap in knowledge needed to win the job! They were always available for questions during the process. From start to finish, they led me through the hiring process in less than six weeks. This included mock interviews, brutal feedback, about 20 real-world interviews, and encouragement along the way. They put me on the fast track.

It's almost the same feeling as matchday on a wrestling mat, but in this case, there are only winners after the call.
Sales and cold outreach can be a four-letter word for many, but like most things, when done well with a focus on meeting customers needs and bringing value to the table, it can be a game changer. It is great when a customer's day, week, or year is better because of a few minutes of a phone call or email.
I recently wrapped up my first 30 days of learning from a firehouse of information about manufacturing, AI, digital transformation, and I4.0 and how these are improving manufacturing every day.
Grateful to learn about our world-class product, including a platform that minimizes unplanned downtime, increases production output, lowers maintenance and reliability costs, scales across sites, and standardizes maintenance for leading manufacturers across the globe.
A shout-out to Fernando Pena, Erik Wall, and Scott Pestronk for all their time and feedback working on the sales learning curve to have me prepared to help these customers on their journey to understanding the health of their most critical machines and saving immensely on eliminating unplanned downtime.
I look forward to working with Isaac Doss as we help manufacturers in the building materials space get the most out of their production.

Tech sales did not fall into my lap by chance. Yes, I had a fortunate conversation that intrigued me enough to push me out of my comfort zone, but what followed was a lot of hard work and determination (while pregnant nonetheless!).
With no experience in the industry, I secured a job with Momence. Supportive colleagues and an incredible leader led me to absorb more in the first year than I have in any previous position. I've enjoyed being a part of the innovation and growth, holding myself accountable, and the challenges that come with development in any new company. It's been gratifying to help gain exposure for a product I truly think is superior to others and backed by a team that I am proud to stand with.
But… most importantly, I have to give credit where it's due. If it hadn't been for a chance meeting with Tech Sales Mentors I would have had no concept about tech companies or how to get in front of the recruiting team. I took a gamble, hoping that Sameer Jauhar’s industry knowledge would be fruitful. I enrolled his guidance after submitting hundreds of applications with no response. His influence, knowledge, and resources were vital in getting me to the point where I could confidently accept a position. It's been a crazy last 6 months but today I'm feeling grateful for my role in tech sales for a couple of reasons: 1. The work is challenging. Yes, that's a positive. I never feel bored, and completing challenges brings high reward in the form of feeling successful and accomplished. 2. My team is absolutely the best. I have never worked with a group of people more passionate, hard-working, and helpful than my colleagues. And I have never met a group of people as loyal, funny, and compassionate as my teammates. We truly lift each other up inside and outside of work. 3. I think a big part of having such an amazing team is the culture Confluent has built and continues to encourage. This is embarrassing, but I distinctly remember trying not to cry during my first week of onboarding as I learned about all the things this company does to support us. 4. I have to throw in working from home here. I've had quite a productive week while also getting a sun tan (okay, sun burn) from working outside at my deck table. Plus, while a lot of people might argue that the WFH life feels isolating, I've never felt that way (see points number 2 and 3). If anything, I think I communicate more often and with more people than in my previous position. When a friend suggested to me that I look into jobs in tech sales, I thought "I wouldn't even know where to begin doing that. I don't know anything about tech or sales, so how could that even be possible?" Well here I am and it wouldn't have, in fact, been possible without Tech Sales Mentors and Sameer Jauhar. And here's why: 1. They taught me what it actually means to be in tech sales. What the day-to-day looks like and everything I didn't realize about the industry (from what a quota means to different roles and relationships). 2. They helped me understand how to draw from my experience. Not only did this give me the confidence that I could be in this position, but it also prepared me for interviews and what hiring managers look for in a potential employee. We did mock interviews, went over common questions I would run into, and polished my story-telling. 3. They guided me toward companies that would fit what I'm looking for in an employer and who to reach out to. This was huge as a person who had not previously been exposed to the industry. And look where it landed me (see point 3 above)! If I tried to do this on my own, I'd probably still be looking. 4. They were approachable and available. I felt comfortable asking questions and did so...I'm still doing so to this day, in fact. And they know their stuff! If you're thinking of a job in tech sales, your first stop should be reaching out to them.
