Ruben has been tremendously helpful in assisting our company on a journey to data centricity, the advice to avoid third party data silos, has allowed us to build curated automations, visualisations & dashboards. Below is a Great article for business execs + IT execs by Ruben Sardaryan PS - If you're a business exec, even a CEO at a global 1000 company, and you don't think this message is for you - think again. Being data-centric is very different from, and superior to, being application centric - and it takes both a mindset shift and a whole lot of different skills and tools and industry standards: starting with W3C and RDF. As a former corporate planner, I highly suggest adding a few sections to each line of business (LOB) strategic plan to feed your needed ontologist, knowledge graph developers, and other IT staff. Start with defining the business and business terms as part of a shared enterprise glossary. When possible (which should be always) leverage industry terminology. For each glossary term, define its preferred name (aka: a prefLabel) and synonyms (aka: altLabel). This may sound too detailed for a CEO. However, in a data-centric organization things should be defined (only) once and defined well, as the data and the relationships between the data define the foundation of your company and, most importantly, defined in a way both humans and machines understand what you're talking about. This language (simple RDF triples) will facilitate enterprise data sharing, external ecosystem data sharing, NLP, machine learning and AI.
