TruTrainer rollers let me ride, and exercise more neural pathways... not just conform to a rigid trainer. I've ridden a few models of the wahoo kickrs and the wahoo kickr roller. they're good, but riding the tru trainer rollers with an external power meter lets me really enjoy a long winter of indoor riding. i can free ride, erg ride, do workouts my coach gives me... it just works. added bonus... they're much easier to take with me when we have to travel for work. Thanks guys great setup God bless you :)

After tons of research for my first smart indoor trainer I finally ordered the TruTrainer rollers with SmartLoad drum. The concept works just as advertised, real side to side movement and coasting makes the workout sessions more enjoyable and go by much quicker than static pedaling. Sitting on my gym's Spin Bike feels like never ending punishment compared to the rollers. Beware that the BLE coverage of the Smartload drum is limited and weaker network cards or antennas might not keep a stable connection, therefore I used a Bluetooth dongle with extension cable on my little Mini PC for a perfect signal. I find that as of now the gradient simulation works best with Zwift at 50% difficulty while other training apps are not as quick to adapt resistance or cannot hold resistance consistently. In the beginning I fell off the rollers a couple times and left one or two scratch marks on the drums in doing so. I have zero concerns about this since the build quality is rocksolid and the bearings were not affected at all. Every part of this product is replaceable unlike most other hometrainers and no extensive technical skills are required for repair. This is a serious training tool and not for decoration. My winter training is now on another level and I probably won't ride outside until spring. In conjunction with a powermeter these rollers would provide a good baseload even for professional level cyclists or triathletes.

I just ordered my third set of TruTrainer rollers—this time for my office. Over the years I’ve owned a Wahoo KICKR Bike, Wahoo KICKR Move, Peloton, and several other fixed trainers, but nothing comes close to the natural, outdoor ride feel of TruTrainer.

My Life Is Now Divided Into Two Eras: Before TruTrainer and After TruTrainer Let me save everyone the pain I put myself through: don’t waste six months overthinking this purchase like I did. I could have been enjoying world-class training instead of watching way too many YouTube reviews and convincing myself I “needed more time to decide.” Spoiler: I didn’t. These rollers are on a completely different level. The ride feel is so smooth and realistic that I honestly think TruTrainer might have secretly hired NASA engineers. The SmartLoad resistance reacts instantly and feels exactly like riding outside—minus the part where you freeze your tail off. But here’s the part that shocked me the most: their support team is unreal. Fast, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Every time I reached out, they responded quickly with actual solutions—not canned replies. It feels like they actually care about the product and the rider using it, which is rare these days. After my first ride, I immediately started bragging to my cycling friends like I just unlocked a new FTP tier by purchasing equipment alone. And honestly? Not far from the truth. If you’re on the fence, learn from my mistake: skip the months of hesitation and just do it. These rollers didn’t just improve my indoor workouts—they made me want to ride indoors. And that alone deserves 5 stars.

TruTrainer SmarLoad Rollers are worth every penny. I was impressed with the packaging, the personal note, the easy  assembly, the easy calibrating of the power, and last but not least the ride quality. Incredibly smooth. I've been riding an older set of rollers thinking that they were just fine, until I upgraded to the Smartload rollers. Absolutely incredible with Zwift. The power numbers are in line with my Quarq power meter. The build quality is second to none. This is an investment worth every last cent. Thank you TruTrainer.

For those on the fence; do NOT hesitate pulling the trigger. Having been on/off rollers for 40+ years of racing/training I echo all the 5 star comments on TruTrainer smart rollers re:, craftsmanship, responsiveness, road feel, ease of use, self-powered, integration with training platforms, etc. Whether just a recovery spin after playing snow sports, or ticking out tempo with surges to check off a workout, it is always a joy on these rollers.

My TruTrainer rollers are one of the best cycling investments I've made. After nearly two decades, they still perform flawlessly, making my smart trainer a distant second choice for indoor work. Why They Remain King: Ride Quality: Truly smooth and engaging, delivering a road-like feel a static trainer cannot match. Skill Focus: Demands core engagement and sharpens handling, perfecting the pedal stroke—it’s pure training. Durability: Unmatched flawless longevity; aluminum drums and bearings have zero performance degradation after 20 years. The TruTrainer rollers are the true gold standard for cyclists who prioritize feel and equipment that lasts.

Rock solid, smooth and the only way to roll indoors. I upgraded to the smart roller in 2019 and 20k+ zwift miles later I've never had any issues. Highly recommend if your looking to fine tune your pedaling technique and upgrade the indoor experience.

A Masterclass in Engineering and Ride Feel These rollers are, quite simply, on another level. The build quality is out of this world, the engineered aluminum chassis and sheer mass of the rollers themselves speak to precision and craftsmanship you rarely see anymore. Everything about them is designed and executed with meticulous attention to detail, making them as much a pleasure to look at as they are to ride. I opted for the basic unit with the flywheel, and the ride feel is unlike anything else I’ve experienced. The ability to stop pedaling without instantly wobbling or falling off is a total game changer, it makes the rollers feel incredibly natural, almost like riding up a gentle incline outdoors. That subtle resistance and stability transform every session into something I actually look forward to. If you’re considering a set, I highly recommend the platform option. It makes mounting and dismounting effortless, and once you’ve tried it, you’ll never want to go without it. Customer service deserves a shoutout too, I needed a replacement belt and the Tru Trainer team was responsive, helpful, and had me back up and running in just a couple of days. These are truly “forever rollers”, the kind of equipment you buy once and use for life. I may eventually upgrade to the electronic rear roller for an even more dynamic ride, but honestly, that’s more of a luxury than a necessity. As they are, these rollers are nothing short of exceptional.

I’ve been using tru trainer rollers for about two years now. Living in London I put in quite a lot of miles on these in the winter. Quite possibly the best ride feel of any indoor equipment I’ve ridden - they’re great and stable at higher watts and I can even get in a half decent sprint on these. Whenever I’ve had any questions, the responses have been prompt. The build quality is top notch. Would recommended.

I have been using indoor trainers since the days of wooden rollers and have owned many different solutions (rollers, i-Magic, Cateye CS-1000, Computrainer, Lemond Revolution, Saris H3, KICKR, etc). Still, none of them got the "feel" of road riding right. I was initially scared off by the price point of the TruTrainer Smart Rollers, especially since I had invested in the complete KICKR solution (Climb + Headwind fan) and was reluctant to spend another $1500-2000 on something that might not do it for me. I made the leap and bought the rollers and after just one interval session put my KICKR up for sale. There is so much to love. The rollers just feel great. They are smooth and heavy and sync effortlessly to online training apps. The spindown is simple, and the power is accurate (tested against my SRM). And, likely most important to many, the ERG mode is PERFECT. They are also beautifully built, and I look forward to many years of indoor training on what seems to be the perfect solution. Don't hesitate to buy a set.

The trainer doesn't need advertising or a testimonial like this. Put your bike on it and simply ride! Even interval training is possible (okay, maybe not sprint intervalls). And best build quality money can buy. And I had a problem with the app. Fast and personal contact, until the problem was solved. And...ahhh just get one!

Hi there, I purchased their smart roller. The rollers came in a perfectly organized package. Everything was extremely easy to assemble. These rollers are beautifully crafted and roll smooth n quiet. I signed up with Zwift right away and the roller was quickly ID by my iPad and off I went. It’s been two weeks now, five rides later, everything is working great. I highly recommended this product to anyone thinking about purchasing a smart roller. Thanks Mike for all your help, best customer support ever!

I've had TruTrainer rollers (Smartload) for over 3 years, after having ridden the leading competitor's rollers for 12+ years before that. I've ridden many thousands of miles of rollers, and the TruTrainers are head and shoulders better in every way. TruTrainer rollers have an incredibly realistic road feel and making riding inside a pleasure. The power curve when spinning up (even without engaging the Smartload module) and leveling off is dead on, as is the load or inertia when pedaling at a steady speed. They are smooth, substantial, and nearly silent. And you can spin easy or push as many watts as you can handle. On top of the ride experience, the machining and fit of parts is just beautiful, and then add the cool anodized colors on the end caps on top of that, and a heavy duty frame with a corrosion resistant coating. It’s great to see a product made like this in America. TruTrainer rollers are worth every penny and then some -- can't recommend them highly enough for anyone interested in indoor training.

I started using a TruTrainer when they first came out with the original model 12 years ago and upgraded the rear roller to Smartload Power System 7 years ago. The Classic and Smartload models are best-in-class products. I have tried all the other popular systems over the years, and none of them compare. The only way to get a more road-like feeling is to ride outside. Also, the service and support you receive are top-notch. After seven years of intensive use, the servo went out on the Smartloader, it was replaced at no charge with no questions asked.

The TruTrainer rollers are probably the best money I've spent on cycling. I'd been looking into rollers for a while and one thing that was turning me off was the lack of resistance most rollers seem to provide. While you could spin up and work on high cadence endurance or maybe use them for warming up, It didn't seem that you could get a real world workout as if you were riding outdoors. Then I came came across TruTrainer. The promise of being able to do workouts with a real world feel was a huge selling point, and I'd grown very tired of workouts on the old static trainer. After convincing myself that this would be worth the price, I took the leap. I'm sure this is well worth it. I find myself using it even when I don't have to be inside. And these were easy to get used to, probably because of the heavy rear flywheel that allows you to coast. These rollers were my first time ever even trying rollers and I think it took me 20 minutes before I confident enough pedaling unassisted, away from a wall or doorway. I'd highly recommend. Thanks TruTrainer!

Best decision I ever made, period. Before your rollers, I only trained indoors when it was absolutely impossible to ride outside. I hated training indoors because the feeling of working out indoors was nothing like working out outside. I had a really hard time hitting my prescribed watts indoors when I was using my old static trainer. It felt like I was pedalling way harder than if I were riding outdoors. 200 watts, felt like 250/270 watts for example... Now, I can hit the prescribed watts just like I was training outside. The realism, the feedback on the rollers is amazing. When I need to do high intensity workouts, like interval training at FTP watts, I no longer dread doing those inside like I used to. The experience has been so good, that even though it is not raining where I live at the moment, I still train indoors with the rollers. I don't need to worry about traffic, crazy drivers, nothing. I just get on the bike, put on a tv show and just perform the workout at peace. It's no longer a chore to workout indoors. So yeah, i'm extremely happy I made the decision to purchase the rollers, even if I had to pay a huge amount of money to the customs here in Portugal hehe. Best decision I ever made. So thank you for developing an amazing product. It has helped me a lot with my training, and will help me for a very long time I hope.

I took up cycling at 48 after running for decades. TruTrainer Smart Load rollers on Zwift had more of a development contribution than entire seasons of riding outdoors. They are rock solid and I’ve never had to pay attention to them. Totally seamless and bulletproof. Buy them. They are more expensive than a fixed trainer, but are 100% worth it. They also taught me bike/balance control, which is important at 6’4”.

These rollers are my most prized possession. I ride at least 4 times a week and used these rollers exclusively to train for the Seattle to Portland single day ride (206 miles). Happy to say that I was well prepared and the ride was (mostly) a piece of cake! Thanks TruTrainer for an awesome product. PS: the smart rollers work super well w/ the TrainerRoad app. They will automatically adjust resistance to match the intervals for your workout to keep things interesting. Couldn't be happier w/ my training set-up.

By far the best rollers I’ve used in 20 yrs. Nothing else on the market (especially stationary trainers) has such a realistic road feel. The heavy flywheel maintains moment so much I can coast for over 20sec. to adjust shoes or chamois etc. and standing out of the saddle isn’t an issue. The app works well and allows me to add resistance for intervals or connect to platforms like Zwift. No batteries or electricity needed, either. I really dislike riding indoors but TruTrainer rollers make it tolerable. Worth every penny. They are heavy but fold in half for storage. Customer service is great too, if you have any issues.

Now it is some thousand miles that I am a proud owner of Trutrainer Rollers - it took some time until I hit the order button but it was definitively worth it. Not only is the ride feel very near the real thing what makes night sessions in the living room the normal usage especially in winter, but the design is so beautiful and straight that even looking at it is fun - everything you need is inside, no clunky attachments to add or cables to connect. The only downside I see is that my Garmin is still not able to control the rollers correctly - every other software seems to connect fine, so the problem is on the Garmin side of things, but it might be worth another try ...

Update: Garmin Edge control issues mentioned above were resolved with a subsequent firmware update. Garmin Edge devices now display and control speed and power correctly.

Smooth, smooth, smooth! I have been riding rollers since the early 90's and these are by far superior to other brands as far as quality and feel. Easy folding for storage as my room doubles as my gym so set up/put away after every ride.

I've been using it for about four seasons, and it's more stable than a regular trainer, and virtual riding, dancing, and pedaling are stable even when done slowly. It feels like you're riding outside. I'm also very satisfied with its durability. Thanks TruTrainer!

Mike, hope things are going well as my TruTrainer is! I'm thinking at least 20 years on it and still going strong! I've replaced the belts once and still use it extensively in the winter months. Thanks for a well built product from USA! Marty

I could not do without my true trainer rollers. They are my inside cycling preference as I like the feel, which is much closer to being outside on the bike.

You can teach an old dog new tricks! What a difference a trainer makes. I've had Wahoo Kickrs for years and was utterly bored with indoor riding and frustrated by the terrible support from Wahoo. My buddy recommended that I try rollers. At age 63? I didn't think I was up to it. I found TruTrainer power rollers reviewed on multiple sites and pulled the trigger. I purchased the SmartLoad Power Rollers, platform, front roller bumpers and the front fork stand. Everything arrived in a single box with a personal note of gratitude within a week. The assembly was straightforward, and I was off and cycling (with the fork stand) in less than an hour. The self-powered roller ( no AC cord required) connected immediately to Zwift for a 2-hour workout. The next day, I moved the rollers into a doorway without the forkstand and was rolling after 20 minutes of building my confidence. I'm out of the doorway this morning and spinning without a crutch ( albeit with a wall nearby). The experience, movement and challenge of being on these rollers has extended my indoor training hours beyond anything I have ever done with the Kickr. The bike moves left to right, there is a bounce, and it is improving my core and pedal stroke. This is as close to riding outdoors as you can get. Well done, TruTrainer. Where have you been my whole life? :)

I bought a used pair of TruTrainer rollers probably a decade ago. I've since upgraded to the SmartLoad roller on the rear. I go through periods where I focus on running or rowing on the erg, so they sit for periods, but have always worked perfectly when I return to the bike. I haven't looked at pricing, but I am aware TruTrainer rollers are priced as a premium product. The good news is they actually fit the bill. If mine had to be replaced for any reason, I would not think twice about purchasing a new set. They are that good. Over-engineered, zero skimping on materials, bullet proof, and they offer and exceptionally smooth ride. For me, there are no viable alternatives.

I purchased two SmartLoad Power Rollers so I could ride a tandem on them with a friend. Worked great, and we were able to coast for a while thanks to the dual flywheels! Highly recommend if you like endurance riding. If you like to sprint and spike your power, you will want to avoid or disable the flywheel.

I've been an enthusiastic and sometimes competitive cyclist for over 50 years, 32 of which were spent in the bicycle industry, and all of them in a northern climate, so riding a trainer is pretty much inevitable, and I've tried many. The ones that hold your bike in a fixed position were never compelling - to me they're like riding an appliance, so I eventually gravitated to rollers. I found standard rollers to be an improvement and could convince myself to use them. But even though they were engaging, they weren't particularly realistic, mainly lacking in the areas of momentum (coasting) and resistance. Then a couple years ago I heard about these and decided to go for it and ordered a set in Dec 2022 with their power resistance roller installed. The build quality and materials all seem about as good as you could hope for, even the packaging was impressive. Out of the box they're extremely smooth, very quiet, and resistance builds naturally as you shift to bigger gears or increase your cadence, all while providing a coasting effect when you slow or stop pedaling - unlike any other roller that I know of - all of which conspire to allow for realistic out-of-the-saddle efforts. As for the power resistance unit, I can only speak to its effectiveness as accessed through their app, as I have yet to engage with Rouvy, Zwift, etc. - that's not really my kind of thing (yet). The app does allow for you to alter the resistance, but it seems redundant to just shifting your bike, given how realistic the rollers are anyway, though it does provide you with power data in the event you don't have another source for that information. I guess my advice would be to only go with the "smart" version if you intend to engage with one of the smart trainer interactive apps. And as is the case with almost anything mechanical, things can happen, and when one of the bearings started to make some noise the people at TruTrainer were very responsive and helped me get it sorted quickly. They were also available and attentive when I had questions about connectivity and compatibility during initial set up. This is one of the rare products that I can recommend without hesitation.

I've owned my TruTrainer for several years and did a lot of hours on it, be it by TrainerRoad or just to ride how I want. The feeling with these extremely well-built rollers comes very close to riding outside. All the skills you need outside can be exercised, because your whole body has to work. As well I'm very satisfied with the perfect service from the manufacturers, if you have any questions.

Best rollers I've ever used full stop. Smooth and beautifully made. I've been riding rollers for 11 years and used almost all the brands. These ones I'll never sell. I use mine on zwift, full gaz and TR with a power meter. If you need more resistance use a larger tire and a bigger gear.

My TruTrainer has been amazing so far! Unlike regular rollers, TruTrainer mimics the feel of the road, making drills like high-cadence spin ups and sprint intervals feel like you’re riding on tarmac. After doing workouts on my TruTrainer, I’ve noticed improvement in my road riding this winter that I wouldn’t have if I was riding standard rollers. The product is built well, works as advertised, and makes winter training more mentally tolerable. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this product enough!

For years I used a smart trainer. Workouts were good but I was missing the fitness of a roller. I moved onto a cheap roller and I loved it. However I felt I was missing out not having a unit that could control resistance and connect to zwift. After careful research I bought my current TruTrainer. My expectations were high given the higher price tag but this unit has exceeded them. This smart roller self powers and connects easily to zwift which is a game changer. The quality of the unit is top notch and I couldn’t honestly say they should change anything. I look forward to putting this thing years, miles and hours of use. Thank you TruTrainer!!!
