I recently (about 2 weeks ago) happened upon your channel. I just turned 49, and I have VERY bad knees. At 23 I tore the ACL in my left knee (a jump rope mishap), had 2 surgeries to get it fixed, and yes, it did work. Then around 35, I tore the ACL in my right knee (a karate mishap). Again, had surgery and yes, that one worked too. Fast forward to age 41, and my left knee, out of the blue, made to POP sound and I couldn’t walk back up the stairs that I just walked down. Again, surgery (#3 on that side). HOWEVER, this time, 7 years later I am STILL in pain, STILL not able to move around proportionally. Which has caused me to put on 75 pounds and have a cornucopia of health issues. Which has also been devastating for me mentally, since I had been extremely active and healthy my whole life. Honestly, I had truly given up, convincing myself the problem was my “age” and now my "weight". That was on till about 2 weeks ago when I stumbled on one of your “knee strengthen videos”, then went on to watch others. In the space of a little over ONE WEEK of following your videos, I have gone from barely being able to stand long enough to make a simple cup of coffee, to being able to walk on my treadmill for 10 minutes before the pain set in, to 2 days after that, being able to walk 12 minutes WITH NO PAIN. Now to this morning, being able to sit CRISS CROSS APPLESAUCE pain-free. I can’t for the life of me figure out why I’ve never seen your stuff before, but so happy and so grateful that I have now. I am not exaggerating when I say, YOU have not only changed my life, but YOU have given me my life back. Saying thank you will never be enough. But, THANK YOU!

I was diagnosed with TOS when I was 17 however my symptoms went away by my early 20’s. I’m now 54 and after having no symptoms at all for 3 decades they returned. The symptoms have been significant. I saw a vascular surgeon who said the only possible solution was surgery. I found your program online and after only 10 days my symptoms reduced substantially. I’ve been doing the program for over a month and I am getting better every week. A great success!!

The programs I have used from Upright Health have 100% changed my life. I started experiencing back pain, hip pain, shoulder pain and real limitations in my mobility around 8 years ago. The location of the pain and limitation seemed to move around unrelated to an injury or accident and I tried everything - and I mean everything - short of surgery to give me relief. The amount of money I have spent on PT, chiro, etc. is embarrassing. I initially used the back pain fix and had a real mental block with the idea that stiffness = weakness. I was afraid I would further injure myself, but I was desperate for relief and jumped in a leap of faith that Matt Hsu was on to something. I never looked back and successfully escaped the grips of that pain cycle with Matt’s unbelievable programming and wisdom. No back pain, no hip pain in YEARS. None. More recently I found out that I might have something called “Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.” I had never heard of this, it sounded scary as hell, so I did some online research. I was so, so relieved to find Matt’s program. Right when I needed it, there it was. I am truly grateful that is extremely misunderstood syndrome is treated with the professionalism and thoroughness the Upright Health method ensures. Again, I had a mental block that my neck was weak and contributing to or even causing other radiating pain and the suggestion that I strengthen my neck muscles seemed counter intuitive. But what I have learned over the years of leaning on Matt and his methods is that trusting his guidance to go slow and to really pay attention to various muscles and err on the side of under-doing something to accurately assess myself has been a game changer. I am about to graduate myself to complete the program and move to full body strength training and riding my bike, which I have not been able to do in years. I am emotional and grateful as I write these words. I had lost some faith and trust in my body’s ability to recover. Thank you, Matt and the team at Upright Health for bringing me back to the place where I KNOW if I should need these programs going forward I will always be able to lean on them.

Your program has helped me so much. I believe the vast majority of FAI patients should probably be doing your program instead of the doctor -prescribed treatments for FAI syndrome.

This experience has blown my mind, because I grew up believing I should always trust my doctor. Perhaps financial incentives are to blame for why so many orthopedic doctors prescribe surgery for so many patients who simply need to work on their soft tissues in order to heal.

About a year ago, I decided I was going to finally try and make substantial improvements in my health. I recruited the help of a personal trainer and developed a seemingly balanced plan of action. Roughly 6 months into my new exercise regimen, I began developing pains in my shoulders, elbows, and wrists. I tried rest and NSAIDS to no avail. I am a 38 year old physician and my education/training proved inadequate in actually being able to help myself. I was worried that this was how my life would be going forward. After watching many youtube videos, I found Matt’s content to make the most sense and he also seemed the most relatable. I have worked through the hunchback fix in addition to the shoulder fix. The programs are well organized and easy to implement. I have been pain free since a couple of weeks into starting the shoulder fix and have been able to get back into the exercise regimen. I am now in better shape than I have been in 20 years. I now feel like I have the tools to remain pain free for the foreseeable future and that’s a great feeling. Thank you Matt for your dedication to helping in a way that’s accessible to everyone.

I'm nearly 70, and have several hip issues (impingement, osteoarthritis, etc.). Every time I stood up, there would be such a sharp pain I couldn't help but yelp out loud and nearly sit back down. I've been working with the prescribed exercises from FAI Fix for about 2 months now, and I have definitely progressed past that flashing pain! I retook the FAI tests today, and can manage nearly all but the hip extension. Originally, I could not pass any of them. I still have issues, but it is significantly better! I will continue, likely for the rest of my life! I owe a big thanks to my friend who referred me to this program. Doctors have NOT heard of it. Nor physical therapists -- at least where I live, which is Fountain hills, AZ.

I suffered an injury back in 2017 running in softball. It was some sort of soft tissue injury that never got properly diagnosed. The opinion of the doctor I spoke to about it was that there was no surgical option available so rest was the answer. I tried to resume the physical activities that I enjoyed prior to the injury and I found that running now led to cramping and yard work led to lower back fatigue and aches and pains were now just part of life and that generally my capabilities are now significantly compromised. I guess I kind of just accepted this as my fate. It's just part of aging. I was able to make some improvements through exercise but there was always this lingering pain that slowly got worse and eventually resulted in some sharp and acute hip pain. I started trying to strengthen my hip and do asian squats and just try and throw things at the wall and see what would help and I managed to change the pain, but I wasn't able to chase the pain away and I started to experience a dull ache whenever I lay down or sit in a chair. It was such a drag and was effecting my sleep and had me wondering if I needed to get a surgical intervention. This is when I chose to enroll in the healthy hips program. It's been about five weeks since I started the program and the results are very obvious and positive. I can't say that I'm pain free but I'm completely capable physically and my stamina has returned and I can sit comfortably for long car rides. The program is a process and commitment is required but the gains are awesome. It's beyond freedom from pain. It might be hyperbolic to say that I've reclaimed my youth but the gains I've made are well beyond management of pain. There's been a recovery of physical ability and it's been kind of fascinating to engage in the Upright Health approach to exercise and fitness. You learn about your body. You learn your strengths and weaknesses and you learn how to make gains where you might not have thought gains were possible. I would whole heartedly endorse the programs offered by Upright Health to anyone experiencing physical pain. Anyone that experiences that type of pain on a daily basis should at the very least give the ATM approach a try and the gains available will most likely be beyond freedom from pain which, of course by itself, has a ton of value. I'm excited to see where this journey leads and can't wait for softball season to start!

I had an extremely sore shoulder, so even daily tasks or little knocks were very painful. It turned into a frozen shoulder then there was much less pain but also much less motion. My local physio wasn't very much help... gave me a few general exercises and referred me to a specialist. I was frustrated, then came across the Shoulder Fix program. I really feel like my shoulder started to improve from the first day that I did the side-lying windmill exericse. Why didn't my local physio give me that exercise?! My shoulder still doesn't have full range of motion but it has plenty of motion for what I need it to do and no pain.

I had a great amount of hip pain at the start of the covid pandemic, which was soon diagnosed as FAI by a physio. As a keen tennis player, footballer (soccer?) and gym goer this news derailed me, mainly due to the dull pain in my groin which got progressively worse during exercise. After being referred to orthopaedics, I found a video “ I don’t buy FAI “ which didn’t seem to click instantly at first. I tried my own workouts which involved some stretching and strength work and my pain was alleviating which gave me hope. I then came back to the video and other Upright health content and suddenly it all clicked. Could the fact my hip was stiff and weak be causing me problems… likely. I then implemented the FAI fix into my programme and I cannot suggest it enough. The best thing it has done for me is helping me understand my body, and how to deal with pain effectively. My hip is not perfect by any means, but my pain controlled to a much better extent and i can’t thank the team enough!!! The pain may be much better controlled but my goals have still not been met and this is vital in continuing to progress. No surgery for me :))

Hi, I've been using the Upright Health programmes for a bit over a year. Today, I took my son to his circus skills class for the first time in a very long time (Mum's are uncool!), joined in the warmup and realised that somewhere along the way burpees have stopped being The Devil's Exercise to... just fine. I've spent so much of my life being clumsy, I can't exactly explain how much it means to me to be able to do something I found hard - and it's fine. Thank you to the Upright Health team!

Hi Matt and Shane, I am a 60-year old scientist who likes sports. The beginning of my story is quite typical of other testimonials: diagnosed with FAI in October 2022, pushed towards drugs/surgery, I was quite lucky to find your channel on YouTube. What you said in your videos sounded well researched and convincing, thus I decided to try FAI Fix. What's important in my story, though, is that I had one nagging doubt which went like this: "Essentially, all their testimonials and videos feature young people. Can an old geezer like myself reap the same benefits?" Its wasn't easy, I must say. I passed all strength related tests in your program, but failed most flexibility tests - typical for someone who lifts weights but does not stretch enough. I've adopted internal and external rotation exercises as my program and followed it with iron will, 6 times per week, even though no effects were visible for months... This is when I almost gave up ("This must be for youngsters only") but my weight training taught me persistence ;) and I stubbornly kept at it. Gradually, a miracle happened and in May/June 2023 the hip pain pain was gone! I resumed my favorite resistance workouts (although I cut my deadlift weight by a half) as well as martial arts training (based on boxing). In fact, when I trained with my daughter in June I could make quick steps and shifts as evidenced by my video: https://youtu.be/BOPcB7Dvg-g Currently, I do "maintenance" - internal/external rotation exercises 3 times per week. If I have to stop these due to, e.g., travel - and especially when I have to sit for hours at a time at conferences - the pain comes back. Thus, I guess its' the journey that counts, not the destination...

Back Pain Fix Student

I am a 68 year old woman. For many years I suffered with discomfort in my left hip/lower back. It would get worse at night when lying down and made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. I tried Pilates, yoga, acupuncture and went to many health practitioners over the years to no avail.

Only temporary relief. And then I found Matt and Upright Health! I bought their back fix program as a last ditch effort to fix the problem, whatever it was. I learned so much about my body in those 15 weeks of targeted exercises! I could see for myself how weak certain muscles were and why they were the cause of the issue. I stuck to the program religiously and loved the results on my body, even at 68.

The flab of my inner thighs tightened up, my shoulders took on a strong and fit appearance and I actually developed my glutes! I changed from 3 lb weights which felt heavy and now exercise with 5 lb -also went up a pound with the ankle weights without strain. I can walk for 2-3 hours now without feeling crippled and can do squats and lunges without agony!

I love this program so much I am starting from the beginning and doing it all again! I am impressed and surprised by the results. I can sleep on my back all night without issue! So thank you Matt and everyone else at Upright Health!

I realize that I need to keep up with these exercises to maintain good muscle tone, but the program is varied and presented well so I don’t get bored. I would recommend Upright Health to anyone with mechanical body issues, these guys know what they are doing!

Absolutely brilliant! I’m 62 and 5”10 tall with an inside leg of 34” and have it always had tight hips like a giant elastic band stopping everything moving. Finally, at the age of 60 I had an MRI and was told I have mild osteoarthritis in both hips and “by the way, have these painkillers as it will only get worse”.

I have been going to a physiotherapist for a year who has been brilliant with massage but Matt's exercises are - well - unbelievable actually. Only after 10 days of following the Healthy Hips 1 Follow Along program, I feel that tight band loosening and I can actually walk for longer than 10 minutes!

I’m not able to do some of the exercises as well as Matt does, (wow is he bendy!) but love the encouragement he gives. I do the programme every day around 4 pm. If I have to give any advice, I would say no matter what your hip problem is, it's the muscles that are the problem.

I have also cut out sugar as much as possible, you are what you eat as they say, lol. Fantastic stuff! Can’t thank Upright Health enough!

Hey, just wanted to say I'm forever grateful, I had back pain for 4 years and a little bit of hip impingement. Thanks to the exercises and tests here I've learned that I had one glute completely turned off due to excessive sitting. Activating the glute immediately put my spine in another place and the pain was instantly gone. The labral tear is there but impingement isn't anymore. Thanks a lot again. What were your issues like before you started using the program? Lower back pain (APT) and impingement on one side. What other experts, programs, or treatments did you try before you found the FAI Fix? Doctors, PTs and others for 4 years. Terrible experience. What results are you most thrilled about? What changes have you seen? I can walk, squat, deadlift and basically do whatever I want pain-free. What advice would you give to others struggling with similar problems? Learn by yourself about the body so you'll know what helps and who can help. Doctors and PTs don't care too much.

I injured my right hip 4 years ago and despite help from an osteopath and some interim improvement, it went again big time last December after an uphill hike. I was in despair, it seemed that it would never get better.

After three months of this, my osteopath suggested surgery might be the only answer. I didn’t want this at all, I was only 45 and needed to be active with my kids and back in the saddle sooner rather than later.

I found Upright Healths YouTube channel and a glimmer of hope appeared in the dark. Slowly, gradually, it improved. After a month I was able to leave my bedroom. It was a miracle!

Now, 5 months later, I can do stairs again and am starting to be able to do some gentle hills too, I have travelled and camped this summer with my family which seemed impossible before I started the program.

Everything has stabilised, I have built back strength and mobility and I will continue to do the exercises so that one day I can achieve my big goal of walking the Camino with my husband.

I thank you Upright Health from the bottom of my heart. Your program has truly been a godsend for me.
