Few screen shots of a Weintek cmtx HMI I have just done to replace an old schneider HMI that had lost its touch. also went from Modbus RS485 to TCP/IP. A much cleaner layout then before and even put together a small user manual, which I will put on the HMI using the bult-in pdf viewer. #Weintek

Today we've been tinkering with something that I find especially useful in an industrial environment: user access in a Weintek HMI using RFID tags. Nothing particularly "futuristic", but very well resolved. Instead of relying on usernames and passwords (which we all know how they end up in the plant...), each operator identifies themselves by bringing their RFID key fob close to the reader. The HMI recognizes the tag and directly applies its permission level. Simple, fast and, above all, practical. On a technical level, the interesting thing is how it integrates with the user management of the system itself. You can map each tag ID to a user, define roles and limit critical actions (recipes, parameters, maintenance...) without the need for external development. On a day-to-day basis, this translates into: – Fewer steps for the operator – More real control over who accesses what – Better traceability of actions – And fewer "shared passwords" circulating around the plant I have recorded a short video where you can see the real operation, without filters. So you can see how simple it is to implement and how well it can fit into a real application. If you work with HMIs or are thinking of improving access control in your equipment, I think it can give you some ideas.

Stepping into the world of HMI for the first time! 🛠️ This week, I took on a new challenge: integrating a Weintek HMI touch screen into my control system. Despite it being my first time working with this hardware, I managed to get it fully operational in just 2 days. Key Progress: • Seamless Communication: Established Modbus TCP connectivity through a network switch. • Data Visualization: Successfully mapped 22 sensor values and 8 actuator settings for real-time monitoring. • Mobile Integration: Topped it off this afternoon by implementing Bluetooth on the controller board, enabling full system access via smartphones and tablets. I'm excited about how quickly this interface came together. It’s amazing to see how modern HMI tools can streamline industrial workflows when you dive right in!

🔧 From Semi-Automatic to Fully Automated – Feed Production System Upgrade Proud to share a recent project delivered by our team in an animal feed production facility (poultry, cattle, and goat nutrition lines). The objective was clear: Replace an unstable and faulty control system with a reliable, precise, and fully automated solution. The existing process was running in semi-automatic mode with recurring dosing inaccuracies from multiple silos and limited diagnostic visibility. This was directly impacting efficiency and maintenance response time. Our approach focused on: ▪ Rebuilding the entire control logic on a Siemens S7-1200 PLC ▪ Developing a structured and intuitive interface using a Weintek HMI ▪ Converting the system from semi-automatic to fully automatic operation ▪ Improving dosing precision to near-optimal accuracy ▪ Implementing clear alarm handling and diagnostic feedback for faster troubleshooting The result: ✔ Smoother production cycles ✔ Significantly improved dosing precision ✔ Better operator visibility ✔ Faster maintenance intervention ✔ A more reliable and scalable system Projects like this highlight how structured automation and well-designed control philosophy can transform performance Proud to be part of a team that focuses on reliability, precision, and continuous improvement.

The Weintek HMI/Scada units are awesome. The Weintek units out of the box out perform and out "Feature" all others. The EBPro software is free. SQL, OPC-UA, MQTT are built in with Internal scripting, and JavaScript. The HMIs can be linked to each other to allow updates as well as programmatic recipe/SQL/DB updates across all units on the network. Plus Weintek has moved on from the 1980's graphic images everyone else is using. There is much, much, more. Give them a try you will be happy you did.

I am impressed with the headless HMI with HDMI output. Two hours out of box and connected to 7 PLCs! I mean it’s been awhile since I used Maple Systems. I liked their stuff in my previous life but the headless HMI with HDMI is something to talk about. You can connect up to 64 PLCs to a single unit with an impressive list of over 300+ drivers as usual. I like to give kudos to people and companies who make Controls Engineer’s lives easy. Unboxing to 2 hours talking to 7 PLCs and displaying data on a TV? Impressively easy! Downside? Rumor mill from other plants and customers I have talked to about this setup is a TV is designed to be installed in our living room so the industrial environment gives a TV about a 1 year life span is the feedback I received from others…not really designed to be hung in a hot warehouse showing off your OEE scores…but the TV cost $300 and the cMT-FHDX-820 is $765…. Not bad. Did I mention that from power “ON” to updating tags is a mind blowing 9 seconds?

I really like Weintek's products, cost benefit, high technology and secrets that I have unraveled that not even the tutorials explain that it is possible. CMT Line: Remote Access, Web Page, with native MQTT talking directly to AWS, AZURE, serves as supervisory. G01 this gateway is fantastic: it serves for any integrated modbus server PLC, native MQTT and OPC UA with 15 thousand tags without licensing, very easy integration with SCADA, talks with SQL server database, and My SQL, and the best thing is that it creates the tables without you having to configure anything, just the communication, it can simulate OFF LINE that EBPRO simulates as a physical hmi interface. FHDX 820: serves as mini SCADA without the use of an industrial PC, perhaps the only difference is that it does not have a Java script, but it has a macro that solves a lot, animations, alarms, events, recipes, it even triggers the PLC of different machines and without paying a license. EASYACCESS 2.0: remote access works miracles, it is possible to access the entire network and not just the HMI in question, firewall does not exist for it. WEINCLOUD.NET: Low-cost web SCADA creation per tag And the possibility of the entire CMT line becoming PLC codesys by activating license, very low cost.

I have already used several Weintek product lines, including EMT, MT, and cMT, specifically MT8072iP, cMT-2078X, FHDX-820 with CODESYS, and the cMT-G01. Weintek provides a large amount of well-structured online tutorials, a fast learning curve, excellent cost-benefit, free software, and high technology. What stands out the most, overall, is the huge number of available drivers and the architectural flexibility of the platform. The cMT line can act as a server for the MT line, remote access through EasyAccess 2.0 works very well, and the cMT-G01 operating as an OPC UA server (15,000 free certified nodes) is impressive. In addition, having native MQTT, direct integration with AWS IoT Core and Microsoft Azure, Modbus server functionality, and features like cMT Viewer puts many external tools aside — it even replaces solutions where Node-RED is often used. Because of the wide range of drivers and features, Weintek solutions are suitable for almost any application scenario. As a suggestion for improvement: It would be very useful if the MAC address of the Ethernet port on the MT series were explicitly visible on the HMI system. Currently, when the navigation button is hidden, retrieving this information can become unnecessarily difficult.

Playing around with some of the other features in Weintek USA Easy Builder Pro software. They have an MQTT broker, this is pretty neat. What you're seeing below is data from several IO Link sensors, all ifm sensors connected to a 4 port master. All of this is programmed in CODESYS North America Codesys 3.5 running on the HMI. I set up an MQTT topic within Easy Builder Pro to publish the temperature sensor value to and the status of it being connected. This is set to publish every second. Using MQTT.FX (you can get a free 90 day trial) on my laptop, I'm able to subscribe to that topic and see the data published.

A PROJECT I’M PROUD OF A couple of years ago, I implemented an automation system for a sugar production facility — the chamber press filter station used for suspension filtration. During this project, I created a 3D model of the collector piping and actuator layout, developed the control algorithm from scratch on a VIPA 300s PLC, and fully built the interfaces for a Weintek HMI panel and a WinCC Professional SCADA system. This was my first PLC, SCADA, and HMI project that I completed entirely on my own. The most rewarding part was seeing the 3D model come to life and watching the mechanisms operate exactly as I had defined in the logic.

For these projects, I've selected Weintek HMIs - I'm working in EasyBuilder Pro, and it seems like it'll be more than capable for my needs. Someone in this sub suggested them, and I'm liking the software more than the one for the CMore HMIs (and some other brand I've forgotten at the moment). So that part is set. 2 projects - OEM machine that controls some smaller pumps via relays and digital inputs, and monitors tank volume via a 4-20mA pressure sensor. In-house manufacturing line that will pump chemicals and use IO-Link flowmeters from IFM and likely some 4-20mA level sensors, and trigger some output relays.

Our production line wants to create an awareness dashboard with modern web technology. We want to extract data logs via Weintek, as our current system uses Siemens PLCs and HMI. The old vendor used Siemens environment tools like WinCC and TIA Portal to create a dashboard, but we can't afford to purchase a license. So we've decided to extend our topology using Weintek instead.

New panel for a chilled water system using the Weintek CMT3218XP 21.5" HMI - Great looking piece of kit. Looking forward to getting this one installed on site 😀 Graphics to follow when commissioning is underway! We'll be using this as part of an IO link system to display temperature, pressure and flow rate for 14 machines. For systems like this I always opt for IO link as it provides us quick and easy expansion to the system. The systems we design are very versatile and can be used in a range of applications, using only the best equipment we can provide solutions for any industry.

Ignition doesn't support CANbus. Probably not a deal killer for most situations. At my company my colleague wants to start using Ignition Edge for ALL of our HMI projects. Which makes sense. But I am making an HMI for diesel engines. The lack of CANbus support means I have to jump through a 3rd party OPC-UA to convert it before sending it to HMI. I think I am just going to use the a Weintek/Maple HMI for this project because it has CANbus support built in. Other than that, the only downside I can think of is that an Ignition Edge license is $1300. If that is per panel, it's going to get really expensive in a hurry. Our application needs 7 HMIs per machine.

I've used them quite a bit as Maple systems screens. I like that they can talk to a ton of different PLC types. I mainly use it for Allen-bradley cause the weintek is a lot cheaper than the panelviews. Heck, there was one project on a dredge in Savannah that used a 4" weintek just to switch screens on a factorytalk SE Application.

Weintek are really powerful and very cheap. Software is free and you can do online simulation before you have to purchase anything. I have written a HMI program and connected to a PLC with online simulation where my laptop acts like a HMI and then controlled all functions as normal. Then I purchased the HMI and installed. They offer screen less HMIs as well, I recommend you take a look at their products. Well worth the money and they have hundreds of drivers.

The system is designed to detect increased temperature and smoke presence in stages with different automatic responses at each level: Level 1: The system provides early warning in the form of a tower lamp on top of the LVMDB panel as well as a yellow warning light in the security area and panel room. Level 2: The system lights up a red light and buzzer in the panel room as a sign of critical conditions. Level 3: The system automatically activates the extinguishing valve to deal with potential fires. In addition, if the smoke sensor detects smoke, the system will also immediately open the extinguishing valve and turn on all warnings at the same time. This test is part of the integration of Schneider PLC-based systems and Schneider and Weintek's HMIs, which aims to improve the safety and reliability of electrical installations through responsive monitoring and automated actions.

⚙️ Powering Precision Lifting – Mitsubishi FR-A800 Inverter in Hoist Automation In automation, motion control isn’t just about speed — it’s about stability, safety, and precision. Recently, I’ve been working hands-on with the Mitsubishi Electric FR-A800 Series Inverter (VFD), used to control hoist motors in the Cargo Terminal Conveyor Management System HSIA - ICT Site. This inverter delivers exceptional torque performance, smooth speed variation, and advanced safety features — essential for hoist operations where every lift and drop must be accurate and controlled. By integrating it with Mitsubishi R16 PLC and Weintek HMI, I explored: 🔹 Advanced speed and torque control for hoist mechanisms 🔹 Smooth start-stop profiles for load safety 🔹 Auto/manual mode switching via PLC logic 🔹 Real-time monitoring through HMI and SCADA Working on this setup reminded me how precision and reliability define automation. Every well-tuned inverter parameter transforms a heavy mechanical system into a smart, efficient, and safe operation.

💧 COD Water Monitoring — Integrating Weintek HMI & Schneider PLC In wastewater treatment systems, the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) value is a crucial parameter that must be reported to the Ministry of Environment (KLHK) to ensure that wastewater is properly managed and does not harm the environment. Recently, I completed a COD Water Monitoring project where the COD values are displayed in real-time on a Weintek HMI and automatically control valves through a Schneider PLC. I developed both the PLC program and the HMI interface myself, using Modbus TCP for seamless two-way communication between the devices. To prevent corrosion in humid environments, I used a polycarbonate panel enclosure. This material provides better resistance to moisture and mild chemicals, making it an ideal choice for automation systems in water treatment areas. 💡 Lesson learned: Through this project, I realized that simplicity in HMI design plays a vital role — a clear and informative interface allows operators to quickly understand the system condition and operate it efficiently without confusion. Industrial automation is not only about efficiency but also a commitment to protecting our environment 🌍.

I used my first brand new Weintek (Maple) cMT3072XH2v2 HMI earlier this year on a job that had a tight budget for a customer's in house/internal R & D project. I had been really wanting to try one anyway and this was the perfect opportunity. The application was very basic, so I did not get a chance to use any of it's more advanced features..... Next Time..... I believe that if you are an OEM and you use different platforms, (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron....) but basically you produce the same/similar equipment, then this HMI is going to save you engineering hours and $$$$..... My 2 cents.

Automation doesn't always need to be so expensive. I use and know the expensive brands often, and always will, but there is a need for what I've been developing. Here's my first demo video of the control library in action. Conveyor demo will be next. Follow JD Controls LLC, it'll be done hopefully next week. This is a mock up of a very simple batch control system. Adds 2 ingredients per recipe to a batch tank. Ingredients are totalized from flow. Transfers out to a filler. The intent is to demo the controls library, not to design an elaborate process. I'm a controls engineer, not a process engineer. Using a Weintek HMI and CODESYS North America, both with free software downloads, I created a library of PLC code and HMI templates/popups that includes many features I like from PlantPAx as well as other projects I've worked on over the years. Features include: •State Machine control using S88 standard •ISA101 - High Performance HMI color scale and design theory •Equipment Module sequencer control •Creation of "parameterized popups" as seen in higher priced HMI software - This took a lot of Codesys programming creativity •Permissive and Interlock objects for each controlled device - Forgot to show those popups in this demo video, oops! •Easily scalable for adding features/controls per customer request I'm taking the more affordable solutions and putting in the effort to make them look and feel like the higher priced solutions.

One of my favorite HMI design projects was the graphical interface for a palletizer machine. Although I didn’t have enough time to refine every detail as I wanted, it still remains one of my favorite designs — a balance between simplicity, usability, and visual appeal. It was also a great experience working with Weintek HMIs, and despite the tight schedule, I truly enjoyed the design and testing process. I’m also really glad to have collaborated with Tayebe khani , the project supervisor — her guidance and support played a big role in moving the project forward. For me, HMI design isn’t just about arranging buttons; it’s about creating an experience that feels right for the operator.

I have significant experience in configuring and programming Weintek panels. The last my valuable result is ready-to-use Javascript code that enables to save all tags (external like PLC or HMI itself) as JSON-file. This is a good approach to save all data as by human readable text. The structure of JSON-file can be flexible configured, divided to sections (aggregate objects), sub-sections, sub-sub-sections... The depth of hierarchy is not limited. Sure, this JSON-file can be used as for SAVE/RESTORE all config-environment of your system.

Having a little fun giving this controls library a makeover. At first I typically just focus on functionality, without making things too ugly, but understanding they will need some love in the future. The popups are due for some love. This is continuation of my "PlantPAx Lite" (I do need a better name for it) controls library using CODESYS North America and Weintek Easy Builder Pro HMI software. I'm developing a library very similar in look, feel, and functionality to PlantPAx, but much lighter - just covering the basics and easily scalable if the customer needs. OEMs, skid/machine builders, manufacturers - this is a very cost effective solution to your automation needs. No software contracts, more affordable hardware, and this solution is built to be programmed and deployed quickly.

I've been using them for quite some time. The graphics are pretty good. The drivers are the big plus. Modbus is straight forward for CoDeSys (Wago & stuff). They also offer their own CoDeSys I/O and such (you need to pick the right unit for it though). I even used them for some old SLC replacements serial & Ethernet, beats PV!! And yes, Maple has a great support team if you need it. Weintek as well as Maple have their own YouTube channels. You'll find pretty much everything on there as far as setting up a unit.

I require remote access to my projects that are away from home. I did some homework and decided that Weintek looked to have a good solution. Set up my first Weintek touch screen yesterday. I set up a domain on Weincloud - free. A secure VPN connection. I had purchased a remote access card when I purchased the screen - about $90 AUD. I set up the screen with appropriate IP addresses - modem was connected complete with an inexpensive data only SIM card - entered modem IP address as appropriate - rebooted the touch screen and clicked add screen on the cloud interface. I added the hardware number of the screen and the serial number on the access card and viola - I was connected to the screen via EasyAccess software and Weintek CMT viewer. Operating switches and the like. The hardware number and access card number are locked together. My PLC was connected to the second Ethernet port on the touch screen and my laptop was connected to the PLC as well through a switch and I was online to the PLC. I clicked on 'pass through' on the cloud connection - added the IP address of the PLC - the software noted that there already was a connection to the PLC (my laptop) - said it would be disconnected - clicked OK - my laptop Ethernet connectiion was disconnected and was then connected through the modem/cloud connection - absolutely seamless. I think back to how I used to have to connect with expensive Extranet cards - having to use a DNS server to find out the public IP address or have an expensive VPN account and program the modem mystery bag - do routing tables in the PLC software - painfull. Very impressed and the screens are not expensive - graphics pretty good as well - a heap of drivers for just about any PLC brand. I did not have to do any programming in the modem either - its default IP address was out of the way of everything so no need. In this case I used a Teleorigin modem but guess that probably any brand would do. Many have a default IP address of 192.168.1.1 which is inconvenient as that is the default address of most routers as well so the IP address would need to be changed before connecting to anything. Now on to discovering about the email feature from the screen through Weincloud using a SMTP mail server. Then on to push messages to mobiles with EasyAccess running on them. My customer will also have access to the screen from mobile phones and computers using the EasyAccess app - everyone is happy. Next one will be setup next week - will have to put together a detailed instruction sheet for my colleagues. Red Lion have a solution of course but it is so expensive and does not appear to have all the features Weintek does have. Recommended. Apparently they have a special solution for CODESYS and Seimens PLCs as well - no experience there as I do not use either of them - currently doing this with Omron PLCs. It is necessary to add a DNS server apparently - just used the Google default DNS 8.8.8.8 - easy.

🚀 Is CODESYS the Quiet Revolution in Industrial Automation? If you’ve been in the automation space for a while, you’ve probably noticed something: more and more engineers, integrators, and OEMs are quietly shifting away from the big-name PLC platforms like Siemens and Allen Bradley and leaning into CODESYS. And it’s not just a fringe movement anymore. So what’s driving the shift? 🔓 Freedom from vendor lock-in CODESYS runs on dozens of hardware platforms from Beckhoff to Weintek to Raspberry Pi. That means you’re not stuck in one ecosystem, paying premium prices for every module and license. 🧠 Multi-language support Structured Text, Ladder, Function Block it’s all there. Engineers can use the language that fits the task, not the one dictated by the vendor. 🛠️ Built-in visualization and simulation No need to bounce between five different tools. CODESYS lets you simulate, visualize, and debug in one environment. It’s lean, fast, and surprisingly intuitive. 💸 Cost efficiency Licensing is often free or low-cost. For startups, small integrators, or even large teams looking to scale, that’s a game-changer. But here’s the real question: Is CODESYS just a cheaper alternative or is it becoming the new standard? We’re seeing more clients ask for it. More engineers recommend it. More projects spec it in from day one. It’s not about being anti-Siemens or anti-Rockwell it’s about flexibility, speed, and control. 👀 This isn't just a Trend—It's a Transition: More engineers are spec’ing CODESYS from day one. More teams are asking for flexibility. More conversations are happening around breaking free from vendor lock-in. The shift isn’t hypothetical—it’s real.
