A few months ago, I rarely posted on LinkedIn, if I did, it was to promote a project, event or charity. Like many people, I’d convinced myself my own thoughts weren’t ready yet. That they needed to be more polished, more complete, more certain. Then along came Oliver Dauert and Michelle Egly at Wildya. Through their work supporting ecopreneurs, they kept coming back to one simple message: Be authentic. Share your thinking. Your voice matters. It sounds simple. But sometimes that’s exactly what we need to hear. So I took the leap. A week ago I shared a post about moving beyond silos and learning from ecosystems. Something I have been mulling over.. for years, decades even, but never said out loud. It reached over 30,000 people, received nearly 300 reactions, sparked thoughtful conversations with people across conservation, regeneration, architecture, finance and systems thinking, and led to some incredible new connections that I know will influence what I’m building next. The biggest lesson wasn’t the numbers. It was realising that authenticity creates connection. People don’t engage because we have all the answers. They engage because we’re willing to ask better questions. One of those questions has now grown into the first article in what I’m calling the Learning from Nature series, exploring what ecological principles can teach us about collaboration, leadership and the systems we build. So I guess this is really a thank you to Oliver and Michelle for creating a space where people feel encouraged to show up as themselves, along with all the other wonderful things WildYa can do to help eco-preneurs get in their feet. I urge you to check them out! And to anyone reading this who’s still hesitating to share their ideas… The world doesn’t need another perfect post. It needs more authentic voices. You never know who needs to hear yours and where it will lead..

Wildya offered eight focused weeks to pressure-test my pitch alongside a group of committed founders working across nature and impact. The structure, the content, the deadlines and the honest feedback from Oliver, Michelle and the cohort sharpened how I describe what I'm working on, and led to my first live pitch to an external audience. I particularly valued the openness, passion and authenticity that Oliver and Michelle brought to the whole experience. Inspired by it, I initiated a fundraising campaign within my own network, securing two scholarships so aspiring entrepreneurs who otherwise couldn't afford to take part could join. The sad thing about our algorithm-driven attention economy is that content like this can be forgotten by tomorrow, while the feed patiently rewards whatever keeps us twitching. Oliver’s words deserve to be heard. He is one of those people who does not use purpose as a LinkedIn buzzword for professional vitality, but as an operating brief. Not: how do I look meaningful? But: what do I need to build so impact can actually scale? I am still not sure whether I love the term “Impact Millionaire.” But I do love the meaning and ambition behind it. It flips the logic without throwing business away as a tool. Less startup unicorn fetish. More bison, peatlands and corals. Someone from the Valley once said: “The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads. That sucks.” Maybe this is exactly the reversal we need: the smartest people on this planet should not be spending their best years making humans stare at ads for longer, optimizing social media loops, or teaching machines how to squeeze another micro-dose of attention out of a tired nervous system. They should be working on making life larger again. On building things that return people to the real world: soil, water, wood, species, landscapes, communities, actual work, actual places. Engagement with the living world, not another AI-driven circus of synthetic urgency. Give Oliver’s post a read before the algorithm decides we all needed another leadership carousel about courage, clarity and the transformative power of getting up at 5 am and drinking water.

Loved the talk, Oliver Dauert! Very inspiring and great delivery 💯 💚 I would argue that the greatest obstacle to unlocking more impact millionaires is translating nature benefits into financial benefits. That way we can go beyond donations to investments at scale. An interesting example is the soil-to-value modelling of Klim, where they translate improved soil conditions to corporate value to make regenerative agriculture a business investment with a clear financial ROI. I am not sure how solid their modelling is but the narrative seems promising. Thanks so much for continuing to inspire us, Oli. Keep up the good work!
